    George Mason also hired Scott Sumner who is about as anti-gold standard as it gets but a libertarian in every other respect. Basically the heir in monetary thinking to Milton Friedman IMHO. Would encourage all libertarians to read what he says. Argues persuasively IMHO that tight money leads people into voting for socialists or authoritarians.

    How much do you want to bet drudge no longer has a link to the number of people not in the labor force in an article claiming catastrophe at cnsnews.com?

    How much do you want to bet that CCRunner now thinks the reported unemployment rate is legit although the methodology and civil servants are the same?

    Explain concretely how all of this makes my daughter poorer when the GOP and Trump are planning to cut taxes - which if they are popular, will remain in place when she is older.

    Moreover, if anything she has a future interest in treasuries as an asset as an heir.

    Since WWII people have been saying we are stealing from future generations but taxes keep getting and our people keep getting richer importing the goods from poorer nations in exchange for treasuries.

    You mean rolls them over? Outside of QE, the Fed has NOT monetized debt (QE did to the tune of about $3T) - otherwise the Fed is not just printing money and issuing a Treasury.

    I think US treasuries are a horrible investment at these rates. It's mainly for institutions/countries that are highly risk averse and/or can only hold very liquid assets. For 99.9% of individual investors, they can get a superior risk-adjusted return with a diversified portfolio. The only individuals for whom treasuries make sense are very wealthy people who want to keep probably 3-5% of their portfolio very liquid.

    All other individuals would do better to shop around for better yields on CD's, or an investment grade corporate bond fund. I have no idea why an individual would have bought a long-dated US treasury in the last 15-20 years.

    His responses to Feinstein are gold. She's an idiot. He seems to be a straight up, letter of the law, constitutionalist. It's a shame they all aren't.

    (Technically he is a constitutional originalist, which the interwebz says is "interpreting the Constitution as it was originally written, as well as a textualist, considering the exact wording of the law over its intent or consequences.")

    Senator Klobuchar keeps trying to play "gotchya!" asking loaded questions, and then cutting off Gorsuch when he tries to provide context for his answer. She keeps getting this disgusted grin on her face like "how dare you deftly avoid my trap questons and keep me from falsely attributing your positions".

    No doubt at all that he would be a suitable replacement for anyone on SCOTUS. He looks solid and fair. He appears to be one who would rule according to the law even if it conflicted with his personal beliefs. I doubt all his rulings will please every conservative. I believe him when he says he will heavily weigh judicial precedent that he likely disagrees with. Not that he would never rule against precedence given arguments put before him. But fairly weigh it. These Senators humping judicial precedent would love to install judges ready and willing to manufacture ways to overturn it if it would fit their ideological beliefs.

    He is a fine replacement for Scalia because he does not move the court to the right. A Judicial nominee of his intellectual caliber, common sense, and character replacing say Ginsburg, would bring a completely different narrative.
