QuakerOatsMeanwhile, while the libs freak out over Trump following up on obama immigration order, Trump follows up again with campaign promise to roll back out-of-control regulations.
Big.

He will not be selling in the next 4 years, so it has nothing to do with growth. He just recognized the market would drop when Trump won.QuakerOats;1835071 wrote: Even this guy recognizes pro-growth policy... -

the market didn't drop when trump won. THe article didn't say when he bought and what he bought. He knows that trump is going to kill it for the next few years and is cashing inGOONx19;1835124 wrote:He will not be selling in the next 4 years, so it has nothing to do with growth. Futures on a market dropping, briefly overnight, and the actual underlying market dropping are not the same thing. -

This. The exact opposite of what goon said actually happened.gut;1835132 wrote:He's not incorrect.

SpockThe left wing media is fawning over trumps pick for the supreme court. When CNN and MSNBC is reporting he is a great pick Trump must of cashed in some leverage to get Sessions through this week.
-
iclfan2The pick is being lauded by all conservatives as a true letter of the law pick. He is known for his clear and concise explanations of his rulings. Everyone who voted for Trump specifically for a SCOTUS pick should be happy with this pick.

queencitybuckeyeHe'll be confirmed. The only question is if the left will be dumb enough to force the right to kick down the door Harry Reid cracked open.
-
iclfan2They're walking a thin line. A lot of the 2018 elections are Dems in states Trump won. They better be careful before they lose even more seats. I kind of do hope it goes nuclear and they call it the Harry Reid rule just to stick it to him.

ptown_trojans_1Meh. Trump did not fuck this one up. Probably is best move so far.
From what I read he is a copy of Scalia, which is fine and changes nothing with the court. I'm fine with that. I don't mind a slightly right leaning court, just to keep us all in check every so often.
The guy should get a fair hearing, and the D's should not do what the R's did last year. If they guy passes the muster, confirm him. There is so many more important fights for the D's to fight than this one. -
majorsparkI tend to believe that they will not be that dumb given the chances that Trump gets another pick. This pick does not move the court radically in any direction. A second appointment could. I expect a show hearing to play to their base. Possible delay tactics to drag the confirmation process out. Not sure what upcoming cases the SCOTUS will be hearing and if and how a delay would impact them.

iclfan2Is Gingburg the only person that would/could leave that would swing the court? I know Thomas has been there forever but him leaving wouldn't do anything either.

Breyer. To a lesser extent Kennedy who tends to swing. Ginsburg, Breyer, and Kennedy all in their 80's.iclfan2;1835163 wrote:Is Gingburg the only person that would/could leave that would swing the court? I know Thomas has been there forever but him leaving wouldn't do anything either.
Edit: Breyer is 78 -

If by that one means his view is that the Constitution means what the words mean, and need not be painfully twisted to fit the facts, it's a great nomination.ptown_trojans_1;1835159 wrote: From what I read he is a copy of Scalia, which is fine and changes nothing with the court. -
like_thatI really wish they had an age limit on the SCOTUS. 80 year olds shouldn't be making the most important decisions for people who are more than half their age.
Ohio has implemented a 75 year old age cap on their courts. I think it should be 70, but at least it's a start. -

He's technically an originalist, you can look up what that means I don't want to screw it up. But basically it is taking the view and language of the people who originally wrote the laws or precedence or whatever.queencitybuckeye;1835170 wrote:If by that one means his view is that the Constitution means what the words mean, and need not be painfully twisted to fit the facts, it's a great nomination.

AppleGorsuch was a good pick. I would guess the D's won't put up too much of a fight on this one. I saw earlier today that something like 7 D's have already come out against filibuster. He will be confirmed even if it means using the nuclear option.
D's might just get smart and leave the fight for the next nomination which could come as early as this summer if/when a retirement is announced at the end of this session. D's who are up for re-election in states won by Trump could also save face back home.
But then the nuclear option could be used on the second nomination as well so the D's are basically left looking like whiny little snots no matter what. -

Sounds like the federal workers are afraid their gravy train is about to derail. -
