    Yeah that zinger would have really slammed the door on Rubio. No way for him to recover from that.

    Problem is there isn't a thought (except building a wall) in Trump's head that Rubio hasn't put there.

    First we have a post by Gut talking about how Trump can win just by getting all the stupid people to vote for him and then CC jumps in with commentary on what Trump "should" say.

    These two things fit together perfectly.

    Trump is smart. He seems to be the one candidate who truly understands that a large segment of the voter base is unintelligent enough to be swayed by loud bluster and a slogan ("Make America Great Again" or whatever), while only having vague ideas that likely have no chance in hell of actually getting put into play (building a wall on national borders, lol). Essentially a Repub version of Obama or Sanders, but with more loud bluster. He fires up a sizable amount of the fanbase and has essentially made himself a "made man" who can say virtually anything, no matter how repugnant, and not lose support. On some levels, his campaign has been about as fascinating of one as I've seen.

    You on the other hand...if you were smart, you'd be able to get through a whole sentence without fucking up at least one thing. Since you can't, you're definitely in the "Trump demographic".

    What will be interesting is if it's actually a winning strategy, where despite Repubs staying homing or voting Dem, he captures more idiots from the other side of the aisle.

    Because what's really fascinating is not just the idiots flocking to the bluster and bravado, but that Trump stands for almost nothing that has Repubs banking these votes and taking them for granted. I think it's almost easier for Trump to pick-up idiots on the Dem side because he actually stands for more of what they want/believe.

    What he's really doing is cherry-picking the one or two key issues to appeal to all the people who vote on 1 or 2 issues. So you have the war-hawkish and immigration for the neocons, you have protectionism for the union folks, and you have single payer for many Dems. Trump is all things to all [dumb] people.

    He doesn't know enough about the KKK to denounce them? Now he is claiming a bad earpiece?

    This should honestly have been a slam dunk election for Republicans and they will blow it because they are going to nominate Donald Trump.

    This is the kind of thing I detest about modern day politics. Trump isn't stupid. He said something to repudiate David Duke way back in 200 or something (I looked that up). He is obviously not a fan of the guy. So for whatever reason he couldn't snap to a quick response during an interview, we're lead to believe he's the next Adolf Hitler. Come on. That is not a reflection of the guy nor should it be discussed for one half a second.

    Trump says something outrageous and his minions eat it up and his numbers go up. I swear he is just testing his limits. He's already said enough that any Republican with any sense of party should have disqualified him a long time ago. I want to be optimistic that the next POTUS can lead this country out of gridlock, and out of this drift into a nanny state.

    Did you watch the interview? Its the kind of Gotcha journalism that Trump knows his supporters loathe. Trump is not going to answer the question in the typical grovelling manner of the average politician practically begging for forgiveness for something totally outside of their control. Trump frames the context into that of political endorsements and says he knows nothing of them. Tapper recognizes this and tries to refocus him and drive him into the typical grovelling condemnation of your average politician. Trump says he will disavow any group if specifically named. Tapper quickly tosses in the KKK while Trump is talking and he does not hesitate as if he does not hear it. Tapper does not press very hard after that because he has his sound bite. Trump stated late last year that he does not want want Duke's endorsement. Trust me Tapper was fully aware of it prior to the interview.

    I am no Trump fan. I have made that quite clear. Cruz and Rubio foolishly think that attacking the perceived anti-establishment anti-press candidate in kind (as he has them) will win them significant numbers of his supporters. Just the opposite. Instead of reading the political tea leaves the last two remaining viable challengers fail to create their own anti-establishment brand they just end up looking like feckless imitators. As Washington politicians they had a large hill to climb to begin with.

    I think we all need to get off our political high horse (including me) and stop denigrating the voters as a whole as stupid or minions (no doubt as small percentage are) and find a way to win them over. Trump is solidifying a majority. Trump is not testing his limits he has tapped into a frustration. An opportunity for a strong, reasonable, and principled leader missed this round. Thankfully our founders created a republic where there are checks and balances against the whims of the populous.

    Who said he was Hitler? I just can't believe that the Republican Nominee for President is going to be Donald Trump.

    I get it. Like I said an opportunity for a strong principled leader has been missed. The void has been filled by the boisterous charlatan and so many are falling for him.

    gosh a ruddies, he acts more like Mussolini than Hitler which that out thrust jaw and that strutting pseudo-macho pose. IIt was not a half second slip. He was given several chances to disavow Duke in two separate interviews Sunday and did not. Hillary 2016

    I can not believe you think Hillary is someone you would want as president! How on earth can you say that with a strait face?
