  Some of the hardest hit by this STUPID and/ or DECEITFUL legislative attempt will be high school and college students who will see their jobs disappear as business's no longer have the option of hiring a kid to get a little extra help.

  gosh a ruddies in most of these cases $15.00 is a long range goal, not what people are receiving now. There is a long history of the minimum wage. And folks like you were making the same arguments back in 1938 when the Fair Labor Standards Act established a minimum wage of 25 cents an hour. And you folks were raving that it would deprive teenagers and college students of jobs and wreck business. It was BS then and it is today.
  Minimum wage aids the working poor who have no real negotiating power with corporations and businesses because unions are not there to act as their representatives.

  Just the words I would expect from a voter who claims to want our society to be united and not divided...completely deriding the opinion that disagrees with yours instead of understanding where minimum wage advocates are coming from.
  
  Here's an idea, support an Employer of Last Resort program administered through local non-profits like churches, social welfare organizations, charities, unions and trade associations for the low cost of 3% of GDP at a wage below the prevailing private sector wage (much cheaper than the welfare state + private charity for the poor which together costs 12% - 15% of GDP) and you won't have to worry about people becoming unemployed by higher wages. Oh, and you can get rid of the welfare state to boot. Oh and no new gubmint employees.
  
  No more welfare. Smaller gubmint. Less GDP devoted to the poor. People learn self-reliance and rising shares of gdp going to labor don't mean involuntary unemployment.

  Someone being underemployed/unemployed for a short period of time is a lot different than a 52 year old working the same entry level position for 30 years. Anyway can go through a rough period for a short period of time, but if it goes on for 30 years, that person may need to take a look in the mirror. Even if he wants to stay at Subway, why not show the initiative to work up into management to get the higher wage?

  Why are those people in the situation of taking minimum wage jobs?
  Did they have the same public education you and I had?
  Did they by law have to go to school?
  Did they have government free lunch programs to help?
  Did they get take advantage of a free education?
  
  They are where, by their own ambition. No one to blame but self, so stop expecting everyone else to pay for your lack of fortitude.

  Gosh it is not bad enough that you hate people on government aid programs, now you hate the working poor. One of the many "I got mine, screw you" types to be found on this site.
