$15.00 minimum wage just back fired and will continue to hurt the poor, devastate the job market, destroy business, cost both the owner and the employee more and raise prices, cost of living…. Great Fucking Plan

Next time Liberal, Democrats and Half Ass Republics want to help the poor .. fuck off.
Next time Liberal, Democrats and Half Ass Republics want to business how to run .. fuck off.

Until Politicians stop spending other peoples money, killing others futures and pumping their egos with feel good, short term fuck up ideas… here is what happens and another screw up with no solution…

What to help the poor stop helping…. with what you have no clue about.

“If they cut down their hours to stay on those subsidies because the $15 per hour minimum wage didn’t actually help get them out of poverty, all you’ve done is put a burden on the business and given false hope to a lot of people,”

The sad part about this is this show just how enslaved the poor are to a failing system of entitlements and that the dependences on welfare is what holding the poor down. There is no incentive not to be a career entitlement recipient.

Reward system of improvement not a reward system for failure..

I am sure somebody like rmolin is going to take the usual shots at belly, but this news brings the lulz.

That's what you couldn't convince liberals about. The less hours to stay under the welfare threshold. Saw that shit coming. They don't want to buy their own groceries. Who does? If anything I should get a stipend for being such a solid tax payer.

Just another example of liberal ideology getting in the way of logic thought.

What really sad is cities like LA, SF, NY and Chicago will not heed the warning of what is happening in Seattle and just add to the pligth of the poor. But the Politican will get goose bumps up their leg with excitment, press with jerk off the politicians ego and the poor will have less before they figure out what the hell just happen ..... and miss two more car payments.

Good points . We need to lower inflation if anything. We also need to purge every stinking politician no matter what affiliation from office . We will be Greece on steroids in a matter of years . The second great depression is just ahead.

It won't work. Poor people will remain poor because they are stupid.

Poor people will be poor because they want to be poor...

I lived in the Projects growing up. The problem was that after a few pay checks the problem of having money began what I called (..the fear of achievement). More tattoos, more drinking, more wasteful spending, more over spending and then came the comfort level and them the missing of work, calling off, not showing up .... and fired…back to unemployment, family poverty and welfare...blaming everyone but the real problem ( them)
They choose to be poor... bad decision make for fewer opportunities.

That correlates highly with my statement. Poor people remain poor because in the long run they continuously make poor choices.

I don't always disagree with Belly. He's spot on with this post. I see it daily in many of our facilities

The poster child for this article is a 52 yr old man that has worked at the same Subway for a decade, continues to work on the line making subs, and still lives with his mother. This does not even register on my give a shit meter.

So when robots and computers do all the work for us, who will be the customers?

Gosh a ruddies, you guys are hilarious. Fox feeds you an article that feeds to your prejudices with so little to back it up.
“Evidence is surfacing that some workers are asking their bosses for fewer hours as their wages rise.”
    How many is “some?”
“Full Life Care, a home nursing nonprofit, told KIRO-TV in Seattle that several workers want to work less.”
    How many is “several?”
“The twist (cut hours) is just one apparent side effect of the controversy.”
Well of the definitions of apparent, in this context the nearest according to appearances, initial evidence, incomplete results, etc.; ostensible rather than actual. What evidence they have is anecdotal at best.
“While the claims are difficult to track, state stats indeed suggest few are moving off welfare programs under the new wage.”
How do you define “few?” but more importantly the key phrase “while the claims are difficult to track.”
“Some long-time Seattle restaurants have closed altogether, though none of the owners publicly blamed the minimum wage law.”
Gosh a ruddies restaurants close down frequently, they did even when the minimum wages was frozen for decades. Notice “none of the owners publicly blamed the minimum wage law.”

I wish I could find the article I was reading about it last night. Some 60yo woman on the east coast who worked at Wendy's or somewhere was complaining that she couldn't pay her rent, put food on the table, pay bills. The salary of a fast food worker was never intended for all that. I try not to criticize people on where they end up in life because I'm sure no one wants to be working at Burger King making $9/hour but that's how it works and always has. People doing the grunt work helping save lives in hospitals don't make $15/hour. Hell I'm not sure which paramedics do. Why should fast food cashiers?
It's funny they don't seem to care that this wage hike will raise fast food prices (driving customers away) and resulting in a lot of layoffs. But that doesn't seem to be an issue to them.

How many more restaurants do you assume will close down with double the payroll? The prices in the industry will sky rocket for business owners to stay afloat in the meantime consumers will decide to eat in instead of out. The raise of the pay in this magnitude in one industry will only breed the same in another industry. This radical approach will create an unreachable market for the consumers . If the workers in the residential construction industry followed suit a $200,000 home will almost double and those minimum wage people will still be in the same place they were from the start.

    This, or:

    1. They realize raising the prices drives customers away so they lower their prices again. The end result is laying off a couple of their workers, because they realize even with less people they can provide the same effort.

    2. Replace workers with kiosks.

I always smh when people think raising the min wage is a simple fix to raise the quality of life for all.

gosh a ruddies, that sure doesn't seem to be happening. Does not seem to be a collapse, gosh

    Why should fast food cashiers?
There won't be any fast food cashiers....they will go the way of gasoline service station attendants.

Just the threat of a $15 minimum wage is costing jobs. Our local Applebee's already has video boards where you can place your order without ever seeing a waitress.

Politicians that propose or support this should be called out and exposed for the economic illiterates that they are (at best) or for the irresponsible and deceitful vote buying scumbags that they are...foisting this on the most vulnerable of our society.

There are so many microeconomic and macroeconomic ramifications of this, that if implemented on a national scale, most likely would trigger a recession greater than 2007 or depression....and because of the cost push inflation and accompanying stagflation,....would be impossible to spend our way out of.

Only a dumbshit would be in favor of this.
  • isadore
oh, oh, oh the sky is falling, the local applebee's has a video monitor, the recession is coming, I was looking at the Seattle example, especially the entertainment and hospitality sector,.

gosh a ruddies, tsk, tsk, tsk. You guys just park yourself in this little reactionary echo chamber. The raise is needed and its coming.

It's not a raise if hours are reduced.
  • HitsRus
...And it's not a raise if you are no longer employed or other benefits are cut.
