Can we just shut the government down already?

    Calm down, move along.

    Figures.
and minus the military, everyone else who makes up that 80% isn't getting paid.....how long should they continue to work without getting paid?

LMFAO...most of those employees will have made-up their "lost day" before lunch.
Not back pedaling, your comparison is apples and oranges. last I checked, if people stopped making cars for a few weeks, absolutely nothing changes.

LOL, you said "who has 40% of their workforce go on vacation?". I answered you very clearly and succinctly, and then you began a clear backpedal attempting to add qualifications and distinctions.

I gave you an example. The auto industry is able to do it, and come back to work without a boatload of OT. The auto industry manufacturing as a whole, by the way, is some 800,000 workers. Not really apples to oranges, especially in comparison to the number of govt workers actually on vacation.

Harry Reid says something real stupid. You have to read this to believe it.

And the Ds have the best intentions right Boat?

Saw a clip of a Republican Congressman calling Obamacare one of the most insidious laws ever crafted by man. Are you shitting me?

I dislike it, but that's certainly a Chicken Little response.

Are you sure about that, O-Trap? Our government is now authorized to invade your property (in this instance your bank account) and take what they deem "fair". Insidious is just one word I can think of using.

Oh wait...it's all according to the Constitution now.

The "MOST" part was the part I was referring to.

try a lot less than 800,000. and again, its apples and oranges. the auto industry is not a service industry. hell, prostitutes can do it too. but again, that is a dumb comparison.

You are, again, wrong. You are forgetting about all the component manufacturers (the "auto industry manufacturing" does not comprise solely the OEM's). Do you guys know how to find answers to anything?

Also, there are tens of thousands of "service" related jobs running those corporations. I'll go back to my original statement - there are very, very few white collar/service jobs where someone can go on vacation for a week and not quickly catch-up without OT.

The entire govt isn't even shutdown, and it's not like it's one giant entity but more a conglomerate of many entities/functions. It's simply not an apples to oranges comparison. Just be man enough to admit you put your foot in your mouth and move on.

    From the article:

"Officials are saying that they are shutting down the privately run, revenue-generating parks 'to be consistent with the National Park Service'."

I'm not sure which is worse: the fact that there is no precedent or justification for closing others' shit just because you can't get your own together, or the fact that their verbiage about doing so is so unabashed.

If I were running these parks I would tell the president to go fuck himself. This is absolutely ridiculous.

    Also. Because this is important.

There is a parallel here. If the USPS either went on strike or was defunded or something of the like, would federal government shut down FedEx or UPS? It would be "more consistent with the US Postal Service," wouldn't it?

I'm buying into what all the dooms-dayers have been saying, now. I'm seeing complete government take over in our very near future, and I have a feeling it will be hostile, costing many innocent lives.

It seems as if they are using this shut down as a catalyst. I'm draining my savings account this weekend to stock up on guns and ammo (kidding). But seriously...

Why does the government even have the right to shut down these privately run organizations?

They likely don't, but who's going to stop them?

Because the people have essentially given them the authority to do whatever they want. People are afraid to push back or disobey.

    Another one...

Government now barricading Colonial theme farm in Virginia it hasn't funded or staffed since 1980.
