obamaKare: the destruction begins

Wow, you really dug down deep for that spin. Congrats.BoatShoes;1527500 wrote:Because it's not a "fact". It all depends on the questions.
If you ask people, "Do you support Obamacare" most of them say no. If you say "Do you support the Affordable Care Act" It's 50/50.
If you say, "Do you support preventing insurance companies from denying coverage to people who are old, women, people who are sick, etc." a majority say yes.
If you say, "Do you support subsidies for purchasing individual health insurance" people say yes.
If you say, "Do you support preventing insurance companies from dropping coverage when people get sick" people say yes.
If you say, "Do you support preventing insurance companies from capping how much they will pay for you in your lifetime if you get sick" People say yes.
If you say, "Do you think people should have to pay a fine or a tax if they don't buy health insurance" People Say No.
If you say, "Do you think employers should be required to provide health insurance to their employees" people say yes.
When you ask people about Obamacare's component parts they support it overwhelmingly except for the so-called "mandate". People support 2/3 of the 3 essential components of the ACA regime, subsidies and guaranteed issue. When you include the dreaded word Obamacare, it is not supported. -

1. You are wrong, you are either lying to try to prove your point or you just don't know. Here's a link: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/charlene-obernauer/obamacare-vs-affordable-care-act_b_4044579.html. The "gap" or difference between oppose and support is nearly identical at 17% and 15% more opposing in both "Obamacare" and "Affordable Care Act" polls. So, no matter what you call it Americans oppose it. Now, do the actual numbers of support and oppose change based on the name? Sure they do, but the fact still remains that nearly the same difference in percentage exists and more oppose.BoatShoes;1527500 wrote:Because it's not a "fact". It all depends on the questions.

2. Of course if you cherry pick a few of the tenants of the law that people like and ask them if they like it, they will say "yes". However, when to insinuate that those few questions embodies the whole law is an outright lie. You notice there were no direct questions about the fact that costs are going up due to the ACA? If you tied each of those "yes" questions with an actual cost per family that said provision would raise the cost, I bet the answers would vary MUCH more.
3. Just admit it, just as Americans were against and still are against the Patriot Act, they are even more against Obamacare. Matter of fact, the Patriot act still held a 46/34 FAVORABLE rating while the ACA has an unfavorable rating. There is NO way around it, the country does NOT want this law no matter what you call it and no matter how you try to spin it. -

Nor do I, I think it was enacted for the same purpose as every other policy of this administration, to seize more and more personal and political power without the least regard for whether it was good or bad for the citizenry.BoatShoes;1527496 wrote:I disagree. Maybe the ACA will turn out to be wrong and make society worse off but I don't think it was enacted in bad faith with the intent to make society worse off. -

queencitybuckeyeHas far less to do with Obamacare than the unintended consequences of making undesired activities illegal. Friedman would have seen this coming a mile away.

Well when Medicare & Medicaid are rolled in with Obamacare to form single-payer gubmint run health care, all doctors and hospitals will be required by law to accept it.QuakerOats;1528732 wrote:http://masonconservative.typepad.com/the_mason_conservative/2013/11/virginia-democrat-calls-for-forcing-doctors-to-accept-medicare-and-medicaid-patients.html

not that this is new. Again, compare this to auto insurance. You can't moderate rates for high risk people that drive Ferraris with low risk people that drive toyota minivans without raising the latter's rates. -

This kind of shit is scarier than the fact ObummerKare blows. Why do Twitter and Facebook feel the need to shut down sites that conform to their rules...just not their politics. And the state-controlled media is silent about it as usual. I remember the days when the Left would go apeshit when book-burners took to the libraries...but no longer is free speech adored when it confronts their idealism. Scary indeed.ernest_t_bass;1529031 wrote:http://dailycaller.com/2013/11/04/twitter-keeps-suspending-account-critical-of-obamacare/ -

Hey Barry and Gilligan's daughter - After a month of failure, how many people have signed up at your worthless website now? Why won't you tell U.S.? Who works for who again? -

i've posted this before but I'll repeat it. I'm FB friends with 50-75 of folks that are dyed in the wool Dems and liberals. They haven't made a peep in months aside from my father in law (who is hugely liberal) who crowed about his new insurance coverage until my wife called him out on it....he made it up. -

Manhattan BuckeyeAs far as being covered, yes. He might, might have had a response from the Department of HHS but he hasn't been confirmed....there is no way he is one of the handful or so of people that have actually received coverage. Plus his partner (husband) is a retiree from American Airlines where the union policy is likely better than what he can get from the exchange.

QuakerOatsObama: 'What We Said Was You Can Keep It If It Hasn't Changed Since The Law Passed'...
It gets more unbelievable every day.
Time to rise up. -
gutThe whole thing is just laughable. There was no way insurance companies were going to honor policies - forced or otherwise - that charged a lower premium than the overall pool.
The funniest thing is somehow the biggest whopper to "save $2500" has gotten little attention.
All the enabling and excuses going on is exactly why politicians continue to lie, spin and deceive. I've said this before - people's "outrage" over such tactics is purely partisan and then when it's a policy they don't like they can't understand how the POTUS gets away with it.
People are stupid. It's hard to argue with the idea that we have the govt we deserve. -

Manhattan BuckeyeObama's recent comments are beyond the pale...this is Nixonian level of dishonesty. I don't get it...and many people on the Left don't get it. If socialized healthcare is such a good idea then why try to hide it? My wife had stronger words about it this morning from Munich, or Frankfurt, or some place weird in
Germany but her general sentiment is that the Obama administration thinks everyone is an idiot....but them.
