What would you do Teddy? Tell the Iraqi's fuck off I'm staying? How well could our troops defend themselves fighting against the legitimate Iraqi government ( one that we installed ) and the armed Sunni extremists?
At least by cutting and running, we got the hell out of a cesspool that will take thousands of years to sort itself out, If at all.

There are numerous countries around the globe where we had to stay for decades in order to maintain stability. These countries are successes today. -

At what cost to the American people? Would you have our young men stay in Iraq just to double down on a failed war over failed intelligence just to save face?QuakerOats;1627493 wrote:There are numerous countries around the globe where we had to stay for decades in order to maintain stability. So BHO has to Keep Bush's promise? See above post where BHO did that and you said it was wrong.TedSheckler;1627501 wrote:Because after 9/11, George Bush swore the United States would never again allow terrorists to have a safe haven anywhere in the world.
And ISIS is a threat to us how? -
TedShecklerI can't answer what we should do. But BHO's do-nothing policy got us here:
And ISIS is al-Qaeda. -

So you don't know what to do, but whatever Obama did or didn't do is bad? So, you would have been OK with ground forces and air support to retake Falluja? How long would you be willing to stay there.TedSheckler;1627517 wrote:I can't answer what we should do. But BHO's do-nothing policy got us here:

Funny considering 15 were from Saudi Arabia and some of them lived and worked in the United States. Both safe havens for terrorists.TedSheckler;1627501 wrote:Because after 9/11, George Bush swore the United States would never again allow terrorists to have a safe haven anywhere in the world.
It doesn't matter if we stayed in Iraq another 5 years or 50 years. As soon as we leave, this will happen. We will never defeat terrorism. This was the original plan of Osama Bin Laden. Drag is into a long, expensive war and we will eventually crumble from the inside. Military adventurism has never been a long term success for any power in world history. -

Maybe it has something to do with a country that is not ours that chose to kick us out, but now wants daddy to come back and protect them from themselves.TedSheckler;1627527 wrote: What is so hard to understand?
We will always have the option to go over there and kick the shit out of them. Why not let Allah sort it out, then clean up the mess later.

In actuality it was last OCTOBER that Iraq had contacted us in regards to this.Yet we are sending in help NOW. Iraq wants our help NOW. This just didn't happen in the past week. Fallujah fell to ISIS back in January

It is a different world, ever since terrorism became an export product. Hence, you may need to defend the USA from points afar. Most people can grasp that concept. And the war was not a failure; the regime was toppled in very short order ....... it has been the unilateral wholesale retreat that has now led to the scenes you see today. And most people know who has been (portraying) Commander-in-Chief for the last 6 years which has led to this carnage.Devils Advocate;1627513 wrote:At what cost to the American people? When will anyone ever get the notion that when you kill a terrorist, He respawns for several generations. When you occupy a country, you actually draw people into the conflict that would not be there otherwise.
To them, WE are the terrorists. -
QuakerOatsI thought it was they who bombed the World Trade Center, twice. I guess we should have sat back and enjoyed it; is that the advice you would offer?

Well for a couple thoughts, throwing away 4500 servicemen's lives and over 60,000 wounded, and a trillion dollars is hardly worth a trade for 3200 lives at the WTT's.QuakerOats;1627545 wrote:I thought it was they who bombed the World Trade Center, twice. Going to war with Iraq had NOTHING to do with the World trade towers. There were no WMD's and there was no al Qaeda. Nothing that we were told was correct, The entire shabang was a ruse to start with. . In fact, invading Iraq destabilized the region when we took Sadam out of power. He didn't tolerate fringe groups, he killed them. -

I am not sold on us still being in Iraq, but you have to see/know that ISIS is al Qaeda right? So the last question has to be just thought provoking and not serious?Devils Advocate;1627513 wrote: And ISIS is a threat to us how?
not literally al Qaeda but the same jihadist/terrorist mindset hell bent on killing Americans.
I I agree to let Iraq "go" and deal with the mess that is left, but to downplay ISIS like it isn't a threat to the US is about as smart as those in the 1990s that said the same about al Qaeda.
