Hyperbole is certainly regrettable, but it seems almost necessary in the face of the blind acceptance of what's going on as business as usual. People should be concerned about the IRS scandals, the nSA, AP, the multiple leadership failures at Benghazi, and the complicity of the media in downplaying this. People should be concerned when our MSM sounds more like TASS in the 70's, and the Press secretary does his best impression of Tariq Aziz on a daily basis.

I do not think that I am blindly accepting that the great Barrack Obama can do no wrong. He fucks up regularly. This is a human characteristic that happens to us all that are not Messiahs.

But I am just as critical of the people in this country that would refuse to say that he has even done one thing at least half right in the last 5 years. By that I mean everything that is wrong with the country is not the Presidents fault. It was fucked up long before him, and will be long after he's gone.

Canada getting impatient with delays over Keystone (and rightfuly so). This is a case of stalling...the administration knows it should be done, but they don't want to piss off their supporters.

I think spying on Americans without warrant is treasonous. I think intimidating Americans through the force of the IRS is treasonous. I do not know how it could be described otherwise.

Many of us knew we were headed for trouble when the nation elected a person who said he would "fundamentally transform America". Why would our country, whose fundamentals and foundation, built upon free economic and political systems that have resulted in our nation being the greatest solution to the human condition in the planets history, and the envy of the world, need to be "fundamentally transformed"? That makes no sense, unless you are a marxist or communist. Does our country have issues that need to be tweaked, and problems that need to be solved - certainly. But the country that has the greatest "fundamentals" and foundations to foster liberty and economic opportunity DOES NOT need to be fundamentally transformed, and efforts to do so are certain to undermine everything that is good about our country and ourselves.

That is patently false. There are 12 companies that operate 18 refineries in Canada. There is nothing illegal about refining oil in Canada. Building refineries is an expensive business, and the economics of the situation makes it more profitable to export to existing refineries as there is not enough demand for new refining capacity.

I think that is true, but when it comes to politics and voting habits, the great majority is moronic. People are often one issue voters (and often that issue is not that important in the scheme of things), or they make their minds up listening /watching 30 second sound bites, or TV commercials that spin and skirt the truth or contain information or quotations taken out of context. They are easily vulnerable to slanted media stories/reporting.

The result is that honest, thoughtful, discerning politicians that are willing to consider both sides of an issue and act for the good of the country, get hammered by the those that push the hot buttons and spin the truth.

Unfortunately this is and has been the state of Mericun politics for 2 or 3 decades.

The mainstream media is the mouthpiece for this bizarre form of political dysfunctionality. The art of honest, meaningful investigative journalism designed to hold our political leaders on both sides of the aisle accountable to the American public has been replaced by partisan hacks who now push the political agenda of one side or the other.

I can make a case that the partisan agenda slants decidedly left but that's not the point I'm trying to make.

All I'm saying is that if the mainstream media would get back to reporting and investigating political stories in a fair and objective manner rather than pushing political agendas and sensationalizing stories to garner market share, perhaps our political process would regain some equilibrium and become far less dysfunctional.

Politicians who want to do what's good and right for the country are ham-stringed for fear of being viewed as "extreme" by overzealous partisan media hacks.
