the situation in America can not be excused by passing it off as its supposedly happening to everyone. Americans stratification was produced by specific policies and laws pushed by the Republican Party.gut;1320568 wrote:Same thing is happening all over the world - I didn't know Reagan was supreme ruler of Earth. It's global, and faster and more severe under those Dems you worship - just pretend like the last 4 years didn't happen and double down for 4 more years of the same. You deserve what you voted for - not what you think you voted for but what you actually voted for. 100% The irony of it all is there's no more shielding you from accountability for your decisions.isadore;1320606 wrote:the situation in America can not be excused by passing it off as its supposedly happening to everyone. C'mon, Gut. We all know that we can still squeeze out 4 more years of Reagan and Bush blaming.gut;1320634 wrote:The irony of it all is there's no more shielding you from accountability for your decisions. -

People who voted against bad leadership in our two wars, for protecting women, for policies that favor the bottom 98%, and for workers and consumers not corporations are getting the leadership we deserve, an advocate against the destructive forces of stratification. That was a pure guess, never was confident, and always said the election will be close. -

I'm sorry, I am just sick and tired of the off the wall lack of any evidence accusations and conspiracies thrown around.majorspark;1320052 wrote:Shame on you for even asking such a question. Never question the benevolence of government. It only seeks to deliver truth to the people. The corrupt, self centered, and greedy only reside in big corporations. Big government is your friend.
There is simply no evidence that this was a massive cover-up by the White House. All the stories are from crazy people that have huge axes to grinds and trying to make a buck.
It was a bureaucratic failure that happens from time to time. That is the nature of the American foreign policy. It was not a lie, or a cover-up.
Again, back to my original point, unless you know how the process works, then stop with the accusations.
This stuff is really approaching Bush level WMD Iraq failure stuff.
Come on. -

Forgive us for doubting the honesty of an administration that gets a pass at every turn by the media. If they pursued this half as fast as they pursued George W's National Guard service in Texas before the '04 election, we might have a little more faith in them.ptown_trojans_1;1320858 wrote:I'm sorry, I am just sick and tired of the off the wall lack of any evidence accusations and conspiracies thrown around.

Sure, you can question, but to throw just crazy talk of, well the only reason Petraeus is resigning is because the administration is blackmailing him is insane.jhay78;1320865 wrote:Forgive us for doubting the honesty of an administration that gets a pass at every turn by the media. There are more thoughtful ways to approach the issue.
David Ignatius had a piece asking the right questions in the right fashion.
Yes, the whole issue was a screw-up, and as such, the national security structure needs to adapt and learn as it usually does. But, the crap that is being thrown out there is just insane and makes no sense.
And if you want the media to attack the President the way they did Bush during his years, is that really want the media to stoop to? COme on, you guys killed the media during the Bush years. Please.
I'm hoenstly sick of it from the right wing media. It is just sad. -
HereticI'm not sure what makes this thread most entertaining.
1. The "IT'Z A CONSPIRACY!!!!!" crowd. Notably, since they're the same people who bring out the "drinking the kool-aid" line every time they can even though anyone can tell they drink as much or more than anyone. Such as now.
2. Isadore for his ham-handed efforts to defend the administration, auto-bringing up the race card (how DARE anyone criticize our AFRICAN-AMERICAN president...as if the color of a person's skin has any bearing on anything relevant to this subject).
OR...
3. A person who claims to be as intelligent as Gut does engaging in discussion/argument with Izzy and his mindless babbling.
Carry on, guys. It's a slow afternoon, so dance for me, bitches! -
gutA simple bureaucratic failure?!? Then why all the hush-hush and duck-and-dodge? There's some serious bullshit going on here and it's why Obama hasn't given a direct answer on the subject in months.
From his PC yesterday:
"Did you give an order to go aid the embassy?" Obama then launched an embarassing diatribe, including attacking Repubs for attacking Rice, that went on for minutes and DID NOT include the words "yes" or "no". -

Blaming the previous administration for struggles during your Presidency is hardly unprecedented. Here are some quotes from various [Lord] Reagan State of the Union addresses.believer;1320646 wrote:C'mon, Gut. We all know that we can still squeeze out 4 more years of Reagan and Bush blaming.
The problems we inherited were far worse than most inside and out of government had expected; the recession was deeper than most inside and out of government had predicted. Curing those problems has taken more time and a higher toll than any of us wanted.
First, we must understand what's happening at the moment to the economy. Our current problems are not the product of the recovery program that's only just now getting under way, as some would have you believe; they are the inheritance of decades of tax and tax, and spend
Now the budget deficit this year will exceed our earlier expectations. The recession did that. It lowered revenues and increased costs.
In the last six months of 1980, as an example, the money supply increased at the fastest rate in postwar history 13 percent. Inflation remained in double digits and Government spending increased at an annual rate of 17 percent. Interest rates reached a s taggering 21 1/2 percent. There were eight million unemployed.

gosh a ruddies it is what is expected for trying to bring enlightenment to the large majority on this thread committed to the selfishness, avarice and intolerance represented by the republican party and its candidates.gut;1320880 wrote:Which is the reason most people ridicule Izzy.

"Sen. Paul didn't need to attend yet another Administration press conference disguised as a classified briefing to know there should have been Marines defending our personnel in Libya, to hear the Administration make the same excuses in private they will make in public. Sen. Paul is focused on demanding answers, demanding those who made these fatal mistake be fired, and fixing the mess this Administration has made. All of that needs to be done in public, for Americans to see and hear." -

Sure, but if this is such a huge issue, use the time to ask questions, direct ones in a classified setting, to the people.gut;1321035 wrote:And to add to the below, are there not meeting minutes for absent committee members to review?

Sounds pretty lame to me.
On the one hand, you cry oh my God this is awful, the administration is covering things up. But, when given the chance to ask the people questions in a classified session, some skip. All talk and no substance. -

I admit, the comparisons between the 2012 Democrat candidate and the 1980 Democrat candidate were a little too intoxicating for me. That and a little good-natured back and forth with Gibby. -

Or it's exactly as he said, which is just a private campaign speech. And Paul is 100% correct in that these answers need to be public.
