Why do you hate corporations?

I don't think they should be condemned. I think they should be educated.isadore;1227323 wrote:don't you realize that all these poor immigrants from the farm and foreign nations are aware of all alternatives the world offers them. And if they do not they should be condemned for it. -

Not particularly. Volitional help is a wonderful thing. I would hope most people would feel the same way.isadore;1227465 wrote:well that is big of you. -

are soulless
conscienceless
artificial entities
that only exist at the permission of government. -

They made decisions. They chose poorly. -

If all people felt this there would be no reason to seek them out for security of income for their families. There are alternatives.isadore;1227585 wrote:back on topic

they had no real choice and you denigrate them for it.Con_Alma;1227593 wrote:Who is condemning them?

yes to organize politically and transpose a conscience on these artificial entities.Con_Alma;1227594 wrote:If all people felt this there would be no reason to seek them out for security of income for their families. There are alternatives. -

DId you even read the post of mine you responded to?isadore;1227659 wrote:yes to organize politically and transpose a conscience on these artificial entities.
That's not a reason to seek them out for security of income it's a reason to "organize politically". Lol
Putting your family's security and safety at risk so you can organize political and "transpose a conscience" on corporations is a bit selfish.
So we are down to it either being a poor choice or being selfish. It's just sad. -

I have shown you the choices they had. They are very real. I have not attacked their reputation nor character. There's no reason to "attack" what is obvious based on the activities which took place. I have simply pointed out the obvious in that they chose poorly based on the risk they put their family in.isadore;1227656 wrote:they had no real choice and you denigrate them for it. -

gosh a ruddies it is selfish when you and others are being worked 16 hours a day, 6 days a week for low wages in dangerous condition with no compensation for injury. And you see young children being worked under the same conditions. Really it is selfish to organize politically to try to change the situation, wow. i would think that was a positive act for you and others, but you don't.Con_Alma;1227790 wrote:DId you even read the post of mine you responded to?

they chose the only option open to them, then they took action to improve that option.Con_Alma;1227791 wrote:I have shown you the choices they had. They are very real. I didn't say it was selfish to organize. It's selfish to risk your families security by putting it in the hands of an employer....or anyone other than yourself.isadore;1227909 wrote:gosh a ruddies it is selfish when you and others are being worked 16 hours a day, 6 days a week for low wages in dangerous condition with no compensation for injury. You didn't have to take a job and work 16 hours a day.

It is not true that it was the only option open to them. Of that, I am certain.isadore;1227914 wrote:they chose the only option open to them, then they took action to improve that option. -

gutClearly "corporations" shouldn't have rights. Because they aren't people, we shouldn't feel obligated to pay them for the goods or services they provide. I am certain no people would be harmed by this.
-
O-Trap
I always wondered about that attitude (I know you're being sarcastic). "Corporations" are people in the same way that any collective body of people. It isn't a person itself, but it is comprised of them. A "church" would be constituted the same way.gut;1228005 wrote:Clearly "corporations" shouldn't have rights. isadoreCorporations are artificial entities created by government granted charters. The government grants them certain economic and political advantages. They become economic persons and to a large extent political persons. All granted to them by government. Gosh they let their shareholders have limited liability and corporate officialdom which allows them to be detached from the conscienceless actions that corporations that so often destroy the lives of others, while collecting dividends

gutSo Apple - unbeknownst to Steve Jobs and out of his control - actively destroys the lives of others? For serial?
This is reality, not the movie Terminator. -

“
workers assembling iPhones, iPads and other devices often labor in harsh conditions, according to employees inside those plants, worker advocates and documents published by companies themselves. Problems are as varied as onerous work environments and serious — sometimes deadly — safety problems. “
“
Employees work excessive overtime, in some cases seven days a week, and live in crowded dorms. Some say they stand so long that their legs swell until they can hardly walk. Under-age workers have helped build Apple’s products, and the company’s suppliers have improperly disposed of hazardous waste and falsified records, according to company reports and advocacy groups that, within China, are often considered reliable, independent monitors.
More troubling, the groups say, is some suppliers’ disregard for workers’ health. Two years ago, 137 workers at an Apple supplier in eastern China were injured after they were ordered to use a poisonous chemical to clean iPhone screens. Within seven months last year, two explosions at iPad factories, including in Chengdu, killed four people and injured 77. Before those blasts, Apple had been alerted to hazardous conditions inside the Chengdu plant, according to a Chinese group that published that warning.”

adogNo way in hell will I sit here and say I hate corporations because that would group all corporations in one lump. Now do I hate some corps..damn right I do. For instance, I have a brother who 40 years ago made a decision to work for a company that offered a good wage, good health insurance and a very good retirement package consisting of health benifits and monetary compensation. He made a great decision to join this corporation for his and his families future...now 40 years later, 6 months before he retires, the "corporation" announces that effective immediatley no helath benifits will be awarded to any retirees...oh and by the way..the top executives just recieved a triple digit % "bonus" for being fiscal responsible...Bullshit
