  children are not responsible for their parents procreation decisions. Corporations advertised encouraging immigration and promising much. millions lacked the skill or resources to leave the metropolitan area or to farm and land was rising in price and diminishing in availability.

  Responsibility wasn't never mentioned in my post with regards to procreation. That doesn't mean the through choice, ramifications unfolded. Procreation was one of them. They chose poorly.

  You don't need money. For example, my grandparents didn't know how they were going to eat each day the woke up. They had nothing and yet they traveld from the East Coast to Ohio...sometimes by simply walking. While bringing a child who was old 1 year old....my father.

  again your family's history is both interesting and admireable but it is not definitive for the life choices of million of others. Support system, family situation, skill level for millions of others was not the same. they had no real choices but the factory.

  It's not definitive...it's an example. Everyone had a choice ...either leave or stay. It doesn't' take skill or money. All it takes is a decision. They chose poorly.

  Many people did, without money, education or even the language of English on their side.

  you are right that working for a soulless exploitive entity is not a good choice, but they were in a hobsonian situation with no other real choice. they lacked the skills or the support necessary for other suggested but for them impossible alternatives. so they used the political process to better their and others situation v these exploitive entities.

  gosh a ruddies I am glad we agree on the soulless exploitation of the soulless, conscienceless entities known as corporations. When you add all those lacks together millions had no real alternative to work for corporations in the post bellum era.

  Everyone has an alternative. They choose not to act on them. No one has to ever work for a corporation. People choose to. Often times it's a poor choice.

  no they can not. they had no choice. Gosh without support and advise I sure could get land to produce the food to support myself. most people in our society right now could not get land to produce the food to support themselves. I lack the skills as many do. Many others lack the resources to acquire land.

  When you are hungry you learn quickley. I have exampels whereby people who didn't speak english, and had no money travled significant distances to find land and produce food to support their families. It was an option to anyone and everyone. no one was ketp from doing so. Staying in cities and working for a corporatin qas alos an option. Some people chose to do that.

  I know you like to bring up the example of your admireable ancestor but it is not applicable to the experience of millions of others who had no real choice but starvation. Oh you don't learn those skills quickly without support.

  When people need the basics of life for survival, they are capable of miraculous things. The seek out others. they band together and travel and move about to find what they need. No one was made to move to the city. No one was forced to stayi n the city. People had choices.

  so you have a few that band together and share knowledge and resources because they lack the knowledge and resources on their own. For millions of others they also lacked the skills and resources. And they did not have the situation that allowed them to band together in a way to support themselves.
