    Isn't that illegal?

You'd think the smartest President of all time would know better....or maybe the narcissist-in-chief believes he's above any laws???

Happy birthday to this thread. One year ago today . . .

    1. The evil rotten rich are getting richer by the second and they must be taxed into oblivion because the middle class deserves the fruits of the evil's labor/risk/entreprenuership much more than they do.
    2. Higher taxes = economic heaven.
    3. Unions are awesome and everyone needs higher wages. This will really entice the manufacturing base to return, eh?
    4. Class warfare (or is that class envy, Robert?) will never stop.

Try this on, Robby - The rich and corporations are hoarding their assets like never before because our leaders are devising ways to pry it from them any way possible. Until the gubmint ceases and decists with their irrational plans, i.e. ObamaKare, Cap-n-Tax, carbon dioxide is a deadly poison, greenhouse gases are the root of all that ails us, the combustion engine is the planet's deadliest invention, etc., then they will continue to hold onto what they have. Gubmint needs to foster a winning economic environment and then get the hell out of the way. But they won't, because they are here to fix things for us. That's why they are elected...right? Funny how we elect and re-elect those that got us into this debacle and assume they know the answers on how to get us out.

The people will get us out of this, not the federal government. Works every time it's tried. Until this is realized, understood, and implemented, the economic death spiral will continue.
Describe to me how "the people will get us out of this" please.

You don't have to be a class warfarist to think that there is a very disturbing collection of wealth at the top percentage of our country. And the wage stagnation. And the lack of investment in infrastructure and education.

Edit: Didn't mean to drag that post up from a million years ago, I thought I clicked the last page button. Herp Derp.

Rurh? This thread has been up for months...in my feed, which I presume all others have it is one of the top 10 discussions on this forum.

BTW this is one of my favorite pieces from the press conference: ""If we do not have revenues, that means there are a bunch of kids out there who do not have college scholarships,""

Why do they need scholarships in the first place? Why are schools charging upwards of $40,000+/year in tuition alone? Where is the money going?

No I meant the post I quoted was from quite a few pages back I think. I thought I hit the "go to last page" button on this thread to see the latest posts and was replying to one. After I posted I realized that was obviously not the case.

The media had its heart set on Obama and it did everything to convince those "independents" that McCain was McBush.
McCain mirrored virtually every political point that W did. The only one that differed....was McCain's denouncement of torture, something Bush whacked his pud to. Most importantly, he mirrored the same old crap on intervention, endless wars and world hegemony. Nary the teeniest thought regarding the trillions these needless wars have cost and will continue to cost. Educated Americans, in particular the independents, had had enough of W and his growing nose. That is why McCain lost. You can blame the media for every ail of the world all you want. The fact is....W was as shitty of a president that I can ever remember. Oh I know...it was liberal media that put W's approval rate in the low twenties.

Before he's done (God help us all) Obama will make the Bush presidency look like Nirvana.

Oh and congrats to the President for not knowing (again) what his own administration has done. He criticized tax breaks for jets that he signed into law.

Tell me again how this guy is the smartest one to ever occupy the White House...
  • I Wear Pants
    Oh please.

And who here (besides maybe Ty) has ever suggested he's the smartest to occupy the White House?
  • gut
I think Obama is a smart guy, he's just not educated in anything that's applicable to being POTUS.

His education background is a mystery, I wonder if he's taken an advanced math or economics class. People praise him for being editor-in-chief of Harvard law review but if he spent his 3 years taking classes such as "random victimization and the law" and "how awesome is Obama" it defeats the point, it appears his whole life has involved being told how awesome he his - yet his accomplishments pre-Presidency are non-descript, at best.

The one thing I get about Obama is I think he's got to be the most arrogant pompous President in a long time. Bush W, like him or hate him seemed like a nice down to earth guy, Obama just comes off as an arrogant liberal prick.
  • Thinthickbigred
The Bush administration got us into this mess ...The illegal war in Iraq didnt help the economy ... The GOP is a freaking joke and Im tired of them always playing the morality card....

right what a guy Bush was ... King Bush ..putting us into Iraq under false pretenses ...what a fucking joke yep hes a nice guy ... wake up ...Its the economy stupid ... We need to get rid of these right wing religious zelots ..they are truely nuts
  • tk421
Uh huh, I like how getting rid of 50% of the population will make the country better. I'm sure it would. Anyone who isn't a liberal is automatically a right wing nut, right?

Trump tried that approach and was shown to be the fool that he was. Perhaps you are a bigger fool than trump? Your argument holds no water at all, except that which runs down your leg.

Yeah, Bush was really down to earth. Tell that to the families of the 4,000+ he sent to their deaths FOR A LIE.

I mean I hated Bush's policies but he seems like a likeable enough guy.

But I don't give a shit if I think I could be buddies with the president I care about his policies and I hated a ton of Bush's. I hate a bunch of Obama's too but not every single one like a bundle of you guys.

Only a fool wouldn't question why our messiah hasn't released his transcript.

Politically aside, I'm curious what classes he took. I know he didn't work at Sidley after his summer clerkship. What the heck has he ever done? Why are people defending this guy?

The fucking Bush presidency is the main reason why the economy tanked in the first place. Why is it that you continue to deny this?

For the love of Christ, you're no better than these birthers who have nothing better to do than question his citizenship. What's next?

I think I'll refer to you as Manhattan Birther from now on.
  • Manhattan Buckeye
I'm only asking questions, why are you being so argumentative? What has he done? It is just a question. Instead of non sequitur comments about his citizenship, what is so awesome about him (other than his followers' worship)?
  • stlouiedipalma
Well, Manhattan Birther, I'm being argumentative because birthers like you have no basis for your claims. I can't recall any President of the United Staes who has had his citizenship and background brought into scrutiny like this one. Ultimately it makes those like you who question his heritage and background look small by comparison.
  • I Wear Pants
I think the problem here is no one has said Obama is awesome. Yet anytime someone says something in defense or tries to argue a counter point against a "Obama is bad because" reason we're met with a "oh yeah your messiah/god/whatever" crap.

    It's dumb.

So is pretending anyone with questions about Obama's past is crazy. The birther thing was insane, that's for sure. But even I am kind of curious as to why there isn't a lot of stuff on Obama's academic past. Not that I think I'm necessarily entitled to know but I am curious.

Of course we look small by comparison, Obama's black.

    /dick joke

IWP, I don't think they're crazy. Bigotted perhaps, residents of Jackson County perhaps, but not crazy.
  • Manhattan Buckeye
    What are you talking about?

    1) I think Obama is a natural born American citizen

    2) I think he's been a terrible POTUS

    3) I think our country deserves better

What is with the "birther" comment? Are you just making up arguments?
