OK thnx Dad. I thought I was losing it lol!Dad4Sports;1080862 wrote:Yes....that was the result in the championship match at the Watkins Tourney....
All the discussion here is strictly for league honors....only league matches count
Boswell certified at 132 last Thursday night....so even if he wrestles 2 matches tonight at 132, he will not be eligible for any honors in that weight class. For that matter.....not sure, but I don't think he will have 4 matches at 138 either. So far, I think he may have 2 matches at 138 and just the one at 132. -

LOL, really? the rules are followed to a T and the fine print is argued. Nothing is black and white. I hate going to the MSL meeting! Sectional seeding which I would consider more important is a breeze compared to the MSL meeting. No offense to any MSL coach, we are all there to represent our kids and make sure we get them their due credit. So if a kid does not have his 4 matches at a weight, he's not eligible. We pick from who is eligible.bigdawg;1080864 wrote:I would hope the coaches would use common sense when it comes to these placings, if Knul ends the year undefeated, he's an MSL champ at one of those wieghts...Just my opinion. I know it does get a little trickier if you have 2 bonefide champs that did not meet up though.
It all comes down to whats more important, adjusting your lineup to get a team win, or sticking to a weight with your kids to get an MSL medal... I don't know how other coaches feel, but we try to win team matches when we can... -

I agree with ya there, I was meaning if Knul gets his 4th win, then he would have to be a favorite in my mind.CoachTim;1080893 wrote:LOL, really? the rules are followed to a T and the fine print is argued. thevikingsorry i did not know knull had that many match at 132. we talked last year about doing what is right and what is good for the kids
but we have buy laws that we wrote and the AD voted on , if we want something changed then we need to tell them
if we want at league tournament then let do it . the kids will only get 3 matches not 7 like we have it now. plus we will have the state duals next year . but we need the 4 duals / tri by state rules. I would not want the MSL tournament to close to the sec tournament. same thing can happen to kids that week a kid could be hurt or skin and not aloud to wrestle he may be the best kid in the MSL. so to be so long alot to talk about and i dont have all the answers. -
CoachTim
Don't get me wrong. I LOVE THE DUALS AND WANT TO KEEP THEM. It gives us [the team, not the forum ] something to talk about, brings the team together. Kids get to challenge others by moving up or down to get the BIG win. I like being in the same gym as our MS team's. The rivalry's make the kids work much harder when they know they wrestle such and such team this week. And the best part is when a team match comes down to two wrestlers who have been 500 or under all year and to see how much their teammates supporting those kids for 6 min. That's a very unique situation in HS sports. The MSL award's are just something that the coaches have to deal with.theviking;1080913 wrote:sorry i did not know knull had that many match at 132. we talked last year about doing what is right and what is good for the kids

I think the bylaws are as fair as we can make then. -
CoachTimI do want to propose 1 new MSL rule for the dual that takes place each week.
No mater who the furthest team is when making an MSL-Buckeye dual into a Tri match, The 2 MSL-Buckeye teams wrestle in the first dual of the night.
I used to think that was a written rule, but found out this year that it is not. -

There are specific by-laws in place......they must be followed. Does that mean that they are perfect? Of course not....last year my son didn't end up where he would have if there was a league vote. However, the rules are there in black and white. These are league "duals" for a reason....duals where a team comes first. The league coaches approach these things to win as a "team". The problem comes when you try to award individual honors in what is a team format. The league championship that was experienced last year by the CW kids will always be worth more than any individual honors....there is plenty of opportunity for that in the post-season. -

That would (and should) be a change that is made....CoachTim;1080937 wrote:I do want to propose 1 new MSL rule for the dual that takes place each week.

thevikingthat should be the case and Buckeye should be 1st and the other team coming in should wait , did this happen to you and LV at HT
HT and CV should of wrestled 1st
should we just go to a coaches vote on the 1st team and look at the big picture for the kids not the coaches
i think we could look at if you wrestled 2 wt class you should declare before the meeting on what wt class you what the kid to be at and then we can vote. like knull i think he is the best 126 is that the wt he is going for state. and then 132 can duke it out .
he is a great wrestler and will get better in the next 2 year love the kid. -
CoachTim
I think almost every coach agree's with everything you just said...Dad4Sports;1080945 wrote:Agree with Coach here......

Sorry. I missed this post earlier. Yes he is going 26 for sectional. Not a bad idea for declaring a weight before the meeting and voting.theviking;1080956 wrote:that should be the case and Buckeye should be 1st and the other team coming in should wait , did this happen to you and LV at HT

bribacker51Some good matchs at Canal tonight good luck to both teams in the post season I think Teays and Canal have a few guys each that will be at the Schott in a few Weeks.

bigdawgCongrats to AC, halfway through the CV match, I was starting to wonder. a couple of CV's lighter weight matches 120 & 138 were much closer thanI would assume CV was expecting, if we would have pulled one of those out, it would have made it easier to stomach. I have to think AC wase expecting our 145 to win and Horn pinned the 152 earlier in the year, tonight he won in overtime, 2 matches that I'm sure they were expecting to get more than 3 points out of. All in all, and awesome accomplishment for the Aces taking the MSL Buckeye crown. CV & FU has some very very good wrestlers. Good luck to all at sectionals.
