  Assume you mean he's weighing in (to certify at 125) but not wrestling? I too thought that you could do that. However, there has been a discussion about this topic running on another forum. The OHSAA website says this:
  
  GROWTH ALLOWANCE
  "The OHSAA Weight Monitoring Program includes growth allowance. A two pound growth allowance will be given on December 25. Growth allowance may not be utilized to achieve a lower minimum weight for a wrestler. In order to utilize the growth allowance, a wrestler shall compete at “scratch” weight in the desired weight class at least once prior to using the two pound growth allowance."
  
  I guess you get into semantics at that point.....is solely weighing in "competing" or do you actually have to take the mat at that weight to get your 2 extra lbs the next time out??

  I'm still taking WD because of the luck factor followed by NWN & NOR but I must admit, you've got me thinking my predictions over.
  
  Sports Dad....if you walk onto the mat and forfeit, I would think you would qualify for the growth allowance. Thats my opinion, which doesn't count. Yet another gray area in wrestling that will probably result in something called "weightgate"

  Agree....If you step on the mat ready to go, it's not your fault if you receive a forfeit. In my book that would definitely count, even if you don't actually face an opponent...

  Owl..The crooks or "Job Killers" were the ones thrown out recently and Thats under"politics" on Ohio chatter. Again this is a wresting thread not the gossip column not a political attack thread. Lets talk about things we know about, We have the facts on, no personal attacks on any HS kids, keep it to wrestling, and use your real name if you do "call someone out". Better yet do it in person the old fashion way.
  Should be interesting tonight at Orrville with Waynedale and Indian Valley. Waynedale may be missing a few kids these matches may be closer than expected.

  We have been in that situation. As long as he makes scratch and goes out at that weight and takes the forfeit he will be fine. Zane is also dropping to 135 tonight and certifying. An opposing team could could stop a wrestler from certifying before sectionals under a manipulated forfeit that is why the forfiet counts as a win and certification. You can not make weight and then bump up a weight that match will not count.

  You bet you can put an "R" by my name!! And proudly but thats another forum on "Ohio Chatter" LOL! One good potential match up we are expecting is Warner IV/ Nelson WD at 119. Other State ranked match ups I'am not sure of...Anyone else know any??

  Truthteller....Your very 1st post on here ever is to tell someone they should not criticize someone else and that would be "calling them out" which is exactly what you just did on your very fist post? LOL!! What Ohio needs is a Facebook style wrestling forum where everyone has a face and a bio. No where to hide, totally accountable for what you say, no cowardly pot shots or criticisms you stand behind your shots with a name and a face. Sorta like the last 5000 years. The closest thing to these forums was thee KKK and the hooded mobs in the south... loud and bold at night with their hoods and torches ...quiet as a mouse man to man face to face. Gotta love the internet. Iam from the Show Me State..Missouri Show me your face or Shut it!! Half the posters wear hoods and would never ID themselves half of us have no shame in who we are! I think the first Facebook Style Wrestling Chat will explode and for good honest reasons.

  Bears win tonight against IV and Orrville. Two solid showings...had a few kids notch their first Varsity wins.....Had a little Sea of Gold Enthusiasm....and of course some drama....God Bless the young man that got thrown out tonight....he's lucky thats all he got running his chops at my Mother.
  
  High Octane matches bring out emotion and Mark Gingerich held his composure tonight and showed a HUGE heart. Was down early...Was illegally slammed..and i didnt think he was getting up. The crowd came alive and Gingerich out hustled his opponent ( who also recieved misconduct penalty AFTER the slam) and won the match.
  
  Bears are off for a little rest...but will be back in the room drilling.
  
  Another nice match was Nelson and Warner, Warner notches the 1st takedown (the 1st Zack has given up all year) and after that it was all Zack, superior conditioning paid off. Three takedowns in 30 secs against state ranked Warner, (them warner kids are tough).
  
  Freshman Wardell wrestled at 130 for the Bears and pulled off a nice win against Tschantz?. Congrats to Chris Richardson and Nick Snyder for notching "W"'s when they had a chance to crack the Varsity lineup.
