Tribe resign Dan Otero and Abe Almonte to one year contracts. Otero for 1.3 million and Almonte for 875 thousand.

Cueing Gardens35 to the new site.
Fine with both. Can never have too many arms in the bullpen and outfield depth doesn't hurt either.
Go Tribe.
They may make an offer to Austin Jackson. Must mean they think Columbus for Greg Allen to start the year.
I'd guess it's better than 50/50 they resign Santana, not good LAA and NYY seem interested.

Heard Boston may be interested in Santana too. Hanley Ramirez not cutting it for them at 1st. This was on Wednesday so maybe things have changed. Haven't been locked into the Hot Stove so far this year.

Had heard Boston was interested in Santana awhile ago. Surprised they haven't moved on him already, if there was still interest.

Apparently more interested Jose Abreau.
Texas and SD interested in 'Los, formal offer made by Tribe, will be allow to talk about matching any offer as he favors remaining in Cleveland.
Salazar being talked about with Cubs? Makes no sense to me.
Appreciate what the Dolans did last year, going all in for Encarnacion and picking up Bruce, but I have a feeling the Tribe is going to fall back into their find "lightning in a bottle" mode this season and look for bargain basement cheapies. Had heard if Santana falls through that they will look at Logan Morrison from the Rays to possibly replace him at 1st base.

For Ian Happ?? Makes perfect sense and I can't imagine a better scenario for either team. Don't know if that's who is being discussed though.

Baez I wouldn't hate it

Meh, our infield would be fucking insane. But don't really care for his bat. If he can learn to walk a bit more and K a bit less, I'd be very intrigued.
Shaw 3/27. Congratulations for him.
Tribe will miss his rubber arm.
He was very good, but those infrequent mistakes will travel further in Coors Field.

I just hate trading Starting caliber pitching, esp one with the potential of Salazar. If I were GM I would never trade away pitching, too valuable. It's like trading away QBs in the NFL.
Sounds like Joe Smith is gone to the Astros on a 2 year deal.

Salazar is the Tribe's Deshone Kizer. Plenty of "potential" but will likely never put it together. I'd move him in a heatbeat if they could get a solid return.
Wish Smith and Shaw nothing but the best. Hated to lose both, especially Shaw. However, I wouldn't have paid him that much. Relievers, especially ones with that many innings consistently, can fall off the cliff at any point.
The Yankees are getting better and aren't done. The Astros aren't losing much and taking steps to sure up their big weakness in the bullpen. The Red Sox seem involved in every rumor and they want JD Martinez.
This appears to be one of those offseasons where "our biggest additions will be our guys like Kipnis and Brantly getting healthy and some guys will need to play better."
Santana to Phillies.
3 years, $60M
Dam! That is alot, he was predicted at 3/45.
Don't blame Tribe for not matching.
No semi days off @DH.
Damn is right. Can't blame him for chasing the paper but do the Phillies even get to .500 the next 3 years?
I see a lot of good players leaving… And not too many staying or coming.
Maybe Twins get 84-83 wins, I don't see anyone else in the central divison finishing above .500.
I predict the usual deadline deal to pull in an asset once they know what they need for the playoffs.

Maybe because Marlins, Braves, Mets aren’t too great ...But Phillies a ways away
Santana could have a couple real nice years

Sorry to see him go but that is way to much. I hope the tribe has a surprise up their sleeve.
