This would have been a good trade if we would have gotten a PTBNL based on Kluber’s performance. As it stands, it’s just a salary dump with little upside.
This can still be salvaged if we take the money saved from Kluber’s salary and go out and get a positive addition to make the team better.
yeah, I know. Just dreaming.
posted by Laley23My problem with Kluber was that he was an uber Charles Nagy. Racked up a lot of wins, but when it came to a game we really needed, not there. What? He was unhittable in 2016 until we made him throw like 900 pitches in 1 postseason and he finally cracked in game 7 (and still wasn’t awful).
2017 would’ve been nice to have him healthy, and not trying to pitch through the oblique injury.
2018 was bad, but who knows how good he actually was with the cheating Astros.
No, I’m saying he had 1 bad game in his 7 postseason starts with us. Plus 2 where he had a pulled oblique and team kept it quite until season was over. He shouldn’t have even been on the postseason roster in 2017.
Kluber’s post season record is 4-3.
Here’s one I agree with you on: DeShields does nothing for this team. 2019: .249 4 homers 32 rbi

If they win game 7, he is WS MVP. I see 1.5 bad games in 2016/18, and then 2 games in 2017 when he was injured and shouldn’t have been on the roster.
People wanted Bauer and “trusted him”, but Kluber was the stalwart. He was a true Ace in 2016, and dominated 3 great offenses (3x I believe in short rest). Not sure what else we wanted?

This post. Exactly.
Dumped Kluber's salary, picked up a reliever with potential, sent another message to Zimmer..........all in one transaction.

Problem is it screams salary dump, so highly unlikely it is reinvested.
The Indians are getting smeared in the national media for this one.
As in “What the hell are they doing?”

They deserve it. The trade is awful, even if it pans out. They have 1 more year to go for it, and they are instead selling before the season. Its a complete joke.
Trading Kluber wasnt a bad option to improve the team. Trading him and not getting a bat, or even an above average OFer or 2B is a travesty. But they couldnt do that, because someone like that is going to have decent salary attached. Its why it is so obvious all they wanted to do was get rid of his salary. In that retrospect, its actually amazing they got Clase in the deal lol.

Yeah........what the hell ARE they doing?
Next will be Lindor and teams will be licking their chops because of this trade that the front office apparently was satisfied with.

agreed
Dodgers and Tribe talks about Lindor have stalled due to LA wants Clevinger too.
hahahaha.....(I hope)
I see what you did there. Reps!! Dolan's are cheap. I wonder what kind of 2nd baseman they will come up with.
Tony Bernazard or Jack Brohamer anyone?
Signed 2B Cesar Hernandez, one year 6 mil.
Seems like an okay signing. Appears they paid a fair price for the one year contract.
The crazy part is, with that signing and the Kluber trade they are a much better team right now than the one that won 93 last season. The Kluber trade was bad value, but we didn’t even have him last season, and 2B is an upgrade now. It’s shocking, but true.
This all goes out the window if Lindor is traded, obviously.

Yeah.. seems like a good signing. I wish they’d pay a little extra and try to get a team option for a second year.
To me, this signals the last “ window “ before they break up and rebuild. Next year, Santana is gone and Lindor for sure. I just hope this year is not a half hearted effort.

Absolutely we are better ... but it is also true that we can’t count on 16 or 17 Ws off the Tigers this year... and the ChiSox stuck it to us at the end of last year when we needed to win the most... they will be a factor. We need one more big bat in the OF to put behind Lindor, JRam and Reyes.
Anyone heard anything about where Kipnis is headed?

Chicago is scary. Think they are a year away, but they are gonna linger and make things hell on the contenders

They have spent over $140 million in contracts this off season—- so far. They will contend.

I don’t trust their pitching yet. Outside of Giolito.
White Sox in pursuit of Puig. SMH.
