Bye bye Lindor and Carrasco

You’d think it would get easier over time. But it sucks just the same. Seems like a decent package, but Ahmed only real return with MLB experience. I’ll miss Cookie because I liked him a lot, but I won’t miss his pitching any more. He is washed.

Lindor, man that sucks. Easily a top-5 Tribe player for me, maybe top-2.

I'd say "welcome to Pirates-ville"...except for how you guys are a lot better at player development, so you can count on getting potentially good hauls for your dump-offs. And you have a better track record with getting rid of guys when their value is high, to maximize those hauls; while we tend to trade guys after a sub-par year or so. So you guys at least have pretty regular windows of being playoff-competitive, while we're the one with 1 window every 20 years because of both bad luck and the inability to make their own luck.

Guh...I don't even know why I love this sport...

Our old friend Greg Allen traded from Padres to Yankees.

This is what we Tribe fans have come accustomed to. Ownership will not spend but at least they get something in return for them. The front office does a good job given the hand they are dealt with and most of these trade work in the Tribes favor. Here's to hoping this one works as well.
GO TRIBE!!

I agree that Cookie is finished. It was nice to see that he had some good moments last season.

The tribe offered Lindor more money than he could spend in a lifetime. They agreed to play a couple of games in a minor league stadium in Puerto Rico to accommodate him. People said that he was different than other athletes, but sadly he isn't.

The Tribe is supposedly going to be one of the teams in attendance for Corey Kluber's throwing session. It would be so much like this organization to re-sign a washed up reclamation project like this.

Kluber signed w/Yankees, 1 year, $11 mil

Tribe signs Eddie Rosario from the Twins for one year at 8 mil. Not a back pick up.

Another average outfielder. He'll fit in well with other 10 average outfielders.

He is better than average. Hell his HR total probably matches our outfield of the last 2 seasons combined.

He's 29 years old. He has 119 homeruns and is a .277 hitter. He's never made an all-star team and is a poor defender. I'll stick with calling that average. Also, his best stats have come against the tribe. I'll root for him because I'm a tribe fan, and he will probably do better than the crap that we put out there last year. I really wish that the Dolans would sell the team. It has gone downhill so much since they have bought it.

MVP 17 last year. MVP 18 the year before. OPS+ closer to “very good” than “average” the last 4 years. He has a career BABIP of over .300, last year being the lone outlier of .248, which likely means he hits the ball hard.

Anyway, I’m not trying to defend him because it’s a blah signing and he will help but not take them to a title. But he’s better than average and much, much better than the Tribe has trotted out recently.

Honestly, if we had signed him either of the last 2-3 off seasons, I’d have been way more pumped. But now we have a depleted roster and as pseudo in re-build mode pending some perfect seasons all coming together. So, not sure why they are deciding to go for the little upgrades this year.

I think that is fair. As the owners and players continue to negotiate, it looks like the compromise will be 154 game season with expanded playoffs again. I don't think that the tribe will be that good this season, but you don't have to be very good to qualify for an 8-team playoff. We had a huge schedule break last year in only playing the Central divisions. We have to hope to sneak into the playoffs and catch lightning in bottle with our pitching in the playoffs.
