The Haslams need to fire themselves.
The Haslams need to fire themselves.
posted by iclfan2It seems odd depending on the coach. McDaniels for instance wouldn't work without his own GM brought in. Not sure how many other coaches are in the same boat. But firing him just to fire him without knowing who you are bring in seems dumb.
Especially if we go after Beinimy. I assume they overlapped in KC a bit.

Correct
Dorsey is gone.
This franchise.......smh

Yeah, but when the schedule got easy -- geez, losing to the Broncos, Bengals, Cardinals and Steelers ???? If you can’t beat them, something is wrong.
True. The Broncos loss was inexcusable. As far as the Bengals and Cardinals, I will chalk those losses up as the team giving up once they lost to the steelers. You could easily see the quit in the team after that game. They had momentum going into that game (sans Myles getting suspended) and then it sucked the wind out of them. It pretty much ended their season.
Also, in the NFL early momentum in a season is huge (especially for a shitty franchise like the Browns). It's not baseball or basketball. When a team starts the season in a hole, it's extremely difficult to dig out of it. Their first 7 games were absolutely brutal.

We all would have been better off if he was just indicted for the Pilot scam and then forced to sell to a new owner.
posted by Laley23Dorsey getting fired seems like a bad move.
This actually wasn't a bad move. He drafted 2 Pro Bowlers (same as Sashi) and the shit that's leaking out is that he was an egomaniac control freak. DePodesta gave him a scouting report from the analytics department and Dorsey threw it in the trash in front of all of the scouts. Dorsey hired a weak HC (Kitchens) who could be his puppet/yes man and when Haslam wouldn't let him do it again, he got canned.
What will be interesting is what happens with Mayfield. This is a make or break year for him with a strong 2021 QB draft class. Either he puts in the work, performs, and keeps his job or they are back to square one. He doesn't have his enablers (Dorsey/Kitchens) to cover for him. He needs a strong leader who will hold him accountable & push him. Time for Baker to wake up.
As far as this search goes, my expectations (in order) would be:
1) Andrew Berry GM & Kevin Stefanski HC
2) Dave Ziegler GM & Josh McDaniels HC
3) Eliot Wolf GM & Mike McCarthy HC
Welcome back BR
Oh, and I forgot to mention, the perfect candidate for the Browns job would be Jason Garrett because he's accustomed to working in dysfunctional shit shows...
^^^^^^^^^^^ Welcome back!

Well said. I agree.
Like freaking Groundhog Day all over again...has this moron (Haslam) learned NOTHING from his previous mistakes? In his presser he said they'd hire the coach first who would help with the GM search. Not the most favorable approach but then the dumbass proceeds to say the HC & GM will both report to him, equally, so both are going to have his ear. That's worked SO well in the past. SMDH

He also assembled the most talented roster they have had in like 3 decades lol (and same can be said for his KC roster). Would’ve given him another year at least.

Plz ignore all posts of mine that will make me look dumb. Thanks in advance.
Agree with a lot of stuff in this article, especially #3. They should switch their O-Line philosophy to a zone blocking scheme to get the most out of Chubb & Hunt. Plus, most of these schools, running spread offenses, have more athletic OL than maulers...

Not a fan of hiring the HC then the GM. I like the whole chain of command thing from top to bottom of the GM hiring coach. HC hires assistants. Shit goes bad, HC can fire assistants, GM fire HC. etc.
I think it is a ploy though to get an experienced guy like McCarthy or a big name..... I would think coaches like that would LIKE to be able to have input and hire the GM. While you all are saying it is a bad move, and generally it is, I think Haslam is being a sly fox and doing it this way to entice a big name coach.......

The most disturbing thing is that both the HC & GM will both report to Haslam, so they will both have his ear. From past experience, Haslam can be easily swayed and this setup is ripe for backstabbing, etc.

True.
I think this method is a strong ploy to get a big name HC. That has to be attractive...

I hope that it works, but we have tried this method before, and it has been a disater.
Hmmmmm, fuck you Goodell....

#Raiders CB Nevin Lawson has been suspended without pay for one game for his actions in Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos. He used his helmet as a weapon.
Unless you're a Stefanski (or other coordinator) guy, Browns fans should be rooting for a Titans win tonight over NE. Would help things if McDaniels was free to make a decision and McCarthy is heading to Dallas and could be off the market soon. Do NOT want to be stuck with one of these "up & coming" coordinators like they've had in the past. Greg Roman & Robert Saleh intrigue me but no interest in Stefanski or Daboll. Prefer to have the HC who has had interest working with the HOF QB's, who has some cred, and can establish a culture.
Lol not browns related per se, but apparently Marvin Lewis told the Cowboys that if hired Hue would have to be his OC. How not to get hired for 1000.....

A lot of people are high on McCarthy but during that year off to "recreate" himself, one of his "trusted advisors" was Hue Jackson.
McCarthy to Dallas
REPORT: Sources telling us that Mike McCarthy was quick to jump on the Cowboys job because he was given strong indications that Josh McDaniels was inevitably going to be offered the Browns HC Job.
Expect McDaniels to be offered the job in the coming days.
