I should’ve better stated that it was only a prediction/feeling. Sorry if it startled anyone.

This is all a hoax by our government to get accurate census numbers.  They're going to send people door-to-door once they have people shut in their houses.  You heard it here first!!!1!!!!!

Not buying it....nationally.

I do believe NYC will be shelter in place in the next 48 hours, maybe less.

Just spoke with a client in Buffalo. He was pretty "doom & gloom." Felt that everything would be shut down (in their area) in the next few weeks with no gas, food, etc. Not a pleasant call. He did say that when/if this passes that there should be an even bigger business boom.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a lockdown happens but grocery stores and pharmacies absolutely have to stay open. People will freak the fuck out if they close. If the government wants to attempt this and keep some type of calm, there’s no other way but to keep those stores open.

I agree. You want to incite civil unrest? Because that's how you incite civil unrest.

That's what they've done in other countries.  There's really no other alternative.

It's a lot more complicated than that, though.  Because you have to consider the vital supply chains - food processing and packaging (same with drugs) needs to keep working, and transportation/logistics.....which also means oil productions & refineries....utilities goes without saying....

I'll say again, I'm kind of wishing I had a gun.  I can't imagine it will come to that, but actually a full blown, out-of-control outbreak could threaten critical infrastructure because over 15% of cases require hospitalization, and I'd guess another 10% might be incapacitated at home.  It wouldn't be ALL at once, but most businesses can't function if 10% of their workforce is a no show.

Speaking of guns, I had to run out and pick something up and it was near my gun shop of choice. Ran in for a second to pick up some more ammo and they were wiped out of pretty much everything. They had a few loose boxes of 45 and .40, and once 1000 round case of 45. I almost bought a 45 and the case of ammo but decided against it.

Yeah, my daughter is Type 1 diabetic.  Closing pharmacies would be really stupid.

I read an article describing what (in theory) the Bay Area was doing with their version of a lockdown and stuff like stores and pharmacies at least are kept open to some degree. Can't remember the specifics as to how/when they're open, but it did say that certain essential jobs such as those and a few others wouldn't be shut down in the same way that other stuff would be.

Any ideas why there would be 20 people in line waiting to get inside of our local BMV?  I'm wondering if people are worried that they will close before they get their licenses and registrations renewed.

All but 5 in the state are closing. But, no tickets should be written for expired tags/licenses.

Thanks.  That's the second time you've helped me out today!

So, my daughter's license expired a few days ago, but you have 6 months to renew before you have to take the test again.  Also, TSA will still accept expired licenses during the crisis.

And, we just got a new vehicle, with temp tags and waiting for the title.

So a coworker of mine is being sent home for 2 weeks because her newphew, who basically lives at her house, has the flu. So they are telling her to stay home until April 1. They are forcing her to use her vacation and sick time. Absolute fucking bullshit.

So my son, who is a gunsmith, and works for a small gun store......they have done more business in the last two days than the whole year to date. They were out of ammo and then remembered that there was a guy who wanted to palm off a shit load of ammunition on them and he had so much they couldn’t take it. They call him today and ask if he still has it. Yes is the answer and they take it all and made some customers very happy.

Also, my son was on hold for two hours with the backed up FBI, for background checks.

Yeah, there's a run all over.  And - get this - 90% are first time buyers.  The NRA commercials will write themselves.

If this gun actually works, I think it would be a hot seller:

Well, the predictable counter-argument is going to be "they need guns only because you have guns".  The misguided AR-15 debate aside, the evolution of that push is probably banning all semi-autos.

But IMO it sounds like this is a big enough development to swing the vote in some purple districts.  It's going to leave an impression on people, even ones who didn't get a gun but thought about it.

Vance's (an OLD gun store in Columbus for those not from there) has two lines to get in the Obetz location. One for those buying anything but guns and one for those who want to buy a gun. The former apparently has little or no wait, the latter quite the line.

Friend of mine’s wife is a nursing coordinator or something at Riverside. She is about 6 months pregnant and they have moved her off of the floor to a call center in preparation for the lockdown. They still consider her essential, so they had to move her to the call center.
