Restaurants,  movie theaters, bars, etc will be the next to go.

They probably should be already.

If they decide to shut that stuff down, they should consider allowing restaurants to keep some of a working staff and still serve doordash, Grubhub, etc orders. But have the restaurants closed to the public otherwise.

Illinois is about a day away from bars and restaurants being closed because of idiots partying yesterday for St Pats.

And the way ORD was last night, I wouldn’t be shocked if Pritzger shuts down the airports.

Spring sports are just on hold.  Nothing in regards to shutting them down.

Gov DeWine has ordered all bars and restaurants to close at 9PM tonight and does not say/know how long the order will stand.

Was at a local establishyment last night.

945 it was still open and some j/o called 911 so the cops had to show up. They didnt shut it down, and the officer on duty said his shift ended at midnight and he would stop it for a drink if it was still open!

We left shortly thereafter because, well, work today!

Had an email forwarded to me from the CBS President. Basically telling all CBS employees to prepare for a full 2 week nationwide shutdown starting this week. What that entails I don’t know, but likely no flights, state borders closed at all major crossings, all businesses shutdown except grocery and maybe gas (and restaurants delivery), etc.

Fearmongering at it's finest, probably because people would just ignore it otherwise.  Trying to get the effect of a quarantine without actually doing it (and all the problems associated with it).  I guess the hope is a panic caused from such irresponsibility will save more people than it kills.

- Italy has been having all kinds of problems with coronavirus for over a month.  With a population of 60M, it has 12,462 cases as of yesterday.  Ohio has a population of about 12M.

- The hospitalization rate for serious cases is @ 15-20%.  This would mean about 15k people in Ohio would be or would have been hospitalized for coronavirus.

- The mortality rate is @ 3-4%...so with 100k cases that would mean at least a few thousand deaths already in Ohio, versus.....4?

Now maybe he means there are a bunch of asymptomatic people that will never even be tested.  That could easily be several hundred people, but 100k?!?

Italy’s problem is more severe because A) – they have enormous tourism coming from China; B) – they did nothing about restricting that travel from China (until too late, at least); C) – their average age is nearly ten years older than the average age of the population in the US; D) – open borders with all of Europe.

All in person voting is stopped. Extending the date to June 2. But it’s not technically official.

Was Ohio one of the first states to start canceling school and closing down restaurants and everything else? Are there other states not treating this as aggressively?

Yes & yes. Nashville has said the Mayors request to close all bars is unconstitutional and are ignoring it until its state mandated by the Governor. The Governor has not stepped in.

Florida hasnt close beaches, which are still packed. I think bars and restaurants still open as well.

Ohio is one of the few that I've seen, so far.

The only other states I've heard about are:

California
Washington
Kentucky
Maryland
Illinois
Michigan
D.C.

But there could be more than this that I just haven't heard about.

Can add Minnesota to the list as well.

Meanwhile in WV, Gov Jordan is telling people to go to the grocery and go to Bob Evans.

PA was the first to close liquor stores. I beleive they have since closed restaurants and other rec areas as well.
