Odd, probably my favorite Scotch that I have tried.

I love Macallan as well, but there is no smoke/peat to it at all.
posted by justincredibleFor $17 I'll have to give it a try if I see it somewhere.
Anyone have a favorite whiskey based cocktail? I love a manhattan or an old fashioned. I've never tried a scotch cocktail, but this list looks pretty good:
I might pick up a bottle of Famous Grous and give a few a try. At the very least I'm sure I'll like a Rob Roy.
I really like old fashions and kentucky mules if I'm going the cocktail route. Will also order Manhattans if the mood strikes.
I think I'm going to run to Party Source tonight and pick up a bottle of blended scotch and bitters (already have vermouth and oranges) to make a Rob Roy. Anyone have a goto blended scotch that isn't too expensive? I'm leaning towards Famous Grouse ($18.99) right now, I've heard it's pretty good from numerous sources.
Bought a bottle of this. It has just enough peat influence but the best part was how evenly it was balanced with sweetness. I generally don't like sweet scotches but the balance of Peat and sweet made this very nice.
How much does that run? I'm in the market for a new scotch and would like to try something new.
It was just over $60 but worth it. I think the HIghland Park 12 is supposed to be similar and it's about $15 cheaper. That's going to be my next try.
Wedding last night had a Bourbon Bar, with a bunch of different types. The 1792 Small Batch was my favorite. Might have to go buy a bottle soon.

Thanks, I might give it a try.
I finished my bottle of Basil Hayden's last night, it had been down to the last drink for a while.
Splurged on a glass of Lagavulin 16 year with my birthday dinner tonight. 👌👌

I'm definitely a fan. I'm not normally a smack-you-in-the-face-with-peat kind of guy, so the balance this gives is perfect. It's sweet, sure, but with enough peat, it sort of cuts it a bit.

Happy birthday .............what did that set you back?

Thanks. It was $30. Not cheap, but it was the best scotch I've had yet.

AJ Green (14 oz strip) with the Collinsworth topping at The Precinct.

Talisker has been my #1 for about 5 years.
I finally spent the birthday money my in-laws gave me today.
Nice, you crack it open yet?
Had a bit last night. So good.
It's high on the range of enjoyable peat for me, but damn, it's hard to hate because of the complex salt and kelp undertones.
Great grab.

ooooh, this makes me want to try it. How is it compared to Laphroaig 10 or Ardberg 10?

I tried the whiskey described to me as similar to the Talisker 10....Highland Park 12. It's not even close. HP12 is OK but boring compared to the Talisker 10. I can't wait to go back to it again. I never, ever thought there would come a day when I would start appreciating smokey and peated whiskeys but here we are.

I'd say maybe a skosh less peaty than Laphroaig. Like I've said, I'm not as big a peat fan as some on here (though I do prefer to have some), but it doesn't overwhelm the rest of the Scotch, so I'd put it higher on my list than Laphroaig.
It's been so long since I've had Ardbeg, I'm not even sure how I'd compare them, but hopefully the comparison with Laphroaig helps.

If you're climbing on the smoke/peat train, ask Justin to part with a couple fingers if his Lagavulin.
