1.) Interracial sex

2.) Evil White Man

But I like both of those things...so I should have loved the movie!

A Quiet Place: 5.5/10

Started out great, then took a shit towards the end. Just lost all the tension they spent close to an hour building.

The Greatest Showman - 9/10.  Some parts were definitely lower.

I have a bad feeling Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is going to be this eye-rolling shit show like JP2 and JP3 were. JP3 may be one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen.

You shut your mouth. There has never been a bad Jurassic Park movie. Ever.

FK is pretty much a JP:2 remake, isn't it (by the looks of it)?

Went to see it today.  That's about where I'd rate it.  7-8/10.  The acting, writing, and score were all significantly better than I anticipated.

I'm guessing that the fact that I went in with such low expectations helped, but there were several haymakers to the feelz that really got me.

Agree with this whole post, I would put it at an 8/10, went in not expecting much, but definitely the haymakers to the feelings department will get you.

Oh come on, the T-Rex in LA was one of the worst ideas ever. It was like watching a sci-fi channel show like Sharknado but in the theaters.

I have to say that the JP original book by Michael Crichton is one of my favorite books of all time. And while they changed way too much in the original movie, the original movie was good.

JP2 and JP3 movies were absolutely terrible.

JP:W wasn't terrible, I would say 5 or 6/10.

The T-Rex part in San Diego  was dumb, but I didn’t mind the Lost World portion. I still watch that 80% of movie when it’s on AMC. And I think the one with William H Macy is underrated. Not as good as Original or World, but it’s entertaining and I’ll catch myself up til 1am watching it for the 50th time on TNT or AMC lol.

Of course, I’m an unapologetic sucker for dinosaurs, especially “real life” ones interacting in modern times.

Same. I enjoyed all the JP movies.

And while a T-Rex in San Diego was indeed a plot on the level of a really bad creature feature, the acting itself during those scenes made them palatable.  That, and the fact that since we've already bought into the idea of recreated dinosaurs up to that point in the movie, the creature isn't as over-the-top unbelievable as Sharknado or Sharktopus.

A Quite Place: 7/10

Liked most everything about it. But some questions about their life choices and what they did for almost 500 days “protecting” the property (which they shouldn’t have been living in anyway)

Who the fuck gets pregnant in that situation? I mean come on. I’ve seen pregnancies on teen mom that were more responsible than that shit.

So dumb. The movie is full of holes that don't make sense under any kind of scrutiny.

Come on, it was basically Godzilla at that point. They even made sure they put in a group of Asian people speaking in their language running from the T-Rex to give the Godzilla nastalgia.

This is coming from someone who absolutely loved Crichton's JP books, someone who really  liked JP1 and even liked JW recently.

I will watch JP2 and JP3 just from the standpoint that they had good SFX for that time period, everyone likes a dinosaur flick, etc.

Let's not forget the scene in JP3 where Malcom's daughter, who got cut from the gymnastics team, somehow uses a magical set of uneven bars shows up inside a building (you can even see the bars as she is swinging around, they didn't cover them well). She then is able to swing/kick a velociraptor that weighed about 300 lbs (in the movie only, real velociraptors only weighed about 33 lb and were much shorter/smaller) right out a window. She weighs about 70 lbs, the raptor weighs about 300 lbs, both have momentum (her swinging, the raptor running/jumping) she doesn't win that physics...

You need to just enjoy movies about dinosaurs and not take them so literal.

I love movies about dinosaurs, JP2 and JP3 just weren't good ones at all. I already said JP1 and JW were good movies and I was a huge fan of the original books (honestly one of my favorite books of all time, top 5 for sure).

That doesn't mean I can't see a dinosaur movie and call it what it was...not good at all.

I recall the gymnastics scene.  Yes, it was a dumb, uncharacteristically campy scene for a JP movie.

However, I actually liked the nod to Godzilla.  It was already similar enough that I'd made the connection, so I didn't mind the writers acknowledging it.

I'm not defending that part of the writing.  Like I said, the portion of the plot that has the T-Rex showing up in San Diego is on the level of a bad creature feature (Seriously, watch Sharktopus), but the acting IS better, and it does still make the movie more watchable.

I'm certainly not saying they're on par with the first, but I still thought the second one was pretty good, and I can enjoy the third (even though I'd probably call it a mediocre movie).

I do have to say this, though: If we're going to hold these movies to realism, then Jurassic World DEFINITELY makes no sense.  They could have subtitled it "Jurassic World: Don't worry; Nothing Will Go Wrong This Time."  Come on.

But we suspend reality for movies like this, because they're fun, well-acted, somewhat well-written, and the SFX are dope.

Annihilation, saw it at the cheap theater last night...

2/10-Could have been a good story line with the idea behind it but it just plain fell flat. To be honest it was boring 90% of the movie. Glad I only paid $2 for my ticket.

I should have known with Natalie Portman as the lead...

I have come to realize that Natalie Portman is just a boring actress, I can't really name one good role she played well. She was terrible in Star Wars and terrible in the Thor movies.

Yeah, I saw it was and thought it was fine. Could have been much better.

As for Natalie, come on, I can name a few: the Professional, Closer, V for Vendetta, Black Swan, and I thought she was really good in Jackie.

Last movie I saw: Thor Ragnarok: 8/10. Funny and didn't take itself too seriously. A good watch. Now, I'm all caught up on the marvel movies.

Admittedly I may have been harsh, I originally had 4/10 and changed the 4 to a 2. I went in thinking the movie had a good enough story to be a solid 8 and was disappointed.

I also admit I took her two worst roles (SW and Thor) and used it against her. V for Vendetta was good, Black Swan, etc. I never saw Jackie so can't comment.

I agree with you about Thor:Ragnorok, was the only Thor movie so far that didn't suck, I liked it a lot.
