Denver is a cool city. It just shouldn't be the center of a trip two years in a row. I have a whole list of things to do in other places in the state.

Colorado Springs looks pretty solid. I like the idea of Rocky Mountain National Park as well.

Any minimalist travelers here? I'm deal hunting for a carry on that's to European specs, which are a bit smaller than here in the US. I had no idea about this until last year. I got fucked flying EasyJet and had to check my carry on roller for 40ish euro both ways. I don't want to have to do that again.

10-11 day trip in the summer, so I think I can manage with a backpack and something like this:

Does it have to be hard case? My dad bought me this bc he likes the dude, but it has worked out well and have taken it to Europe a few times. You may have to do laundry one day. We went for 2 weeks a few times, but my mom would also do laundry one of the days.I personally hate anything rolling or that you have to drag in most cities, I much prefer a backpack.

My wife has about 3 weeks in June between her current job finishing and her new job starting, we're planning on taking a trip during that span. She said she'd like to go to Florida or California. Is San Diego a worthwhile destination? I've seen all I ever need to see in the Bay area, but really never been anywhere else in the state.

I'm already bringing a smaller backpack for day hikes, so that's not an option. I'm assuming I'll have to do laundry once, but that's not a huge deal. Gladly I'm going when it will be hot as hell, so I won't have to bring heavy clothes.

Spent a long weekend in San Diego several years ago --- enjoyed it.  Stayed at the San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina; great spot.  LaJolla and Del Mar just north of town are fabulous areas.  Torrey Pines is right there; had a martini in the club house.  Downtown --  Gaslamp district chock full of great places.  Sunday brunch at the renowned Hotel Del Coronado on Coronado Island is well worth it, what a place.  Oh, and a perfect 72 degrees just about every day.

Going to Barbados for work Monday through Thursday. Pretty pumped, especially just to sleep without a damn baby in the same room. Doesn’t hurt that it’ll be 85 degrees everyday.

So far, I have weekend trips planned to Denver, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, NYC, and Louisville in the next 3 months. Mostly visiting friends, and will catch a baseball game in all 4 MLB cities.

Outbound one way, nonstop flight to Barcelona booked. $300. Hell of a deal via Norwegian. Hopper had it for $378, went to directly to the site and got it for less. I'd prefer to do round trip, but this deal was too good to pass up. I'm predicting I get ripped on the return. Probably outrageous and/or 20+ hour trip.

I'm interested to hear how Norwegian Air is.

I've never flown with them but reviews seem ok.

Only downside is that it's from Newark, but its not that bad getting there. Like most airlines these days, they bait you with a low price then charge you extra for practically everything....chose your seat option, checked bag (usually free for transatlantic flights), and food.

If you've ever wanted to visit Kokomo, Adam the Woo is live streaming in the snow today.

Hope this helps.

All inclusive? We stayed at the Grand Palladium adults only part a couple of years ago. Had a good time.

Every time I travel I always wonder how some of these people afford it. I don't dress the greatest on flights all the time but some of these people are straight slobs.  Also, my local airport has the shittiest flights and I was flying to an island, so I was basically in airports/ airplanes for 12 hours on Monday and 14 hours on Thursday. Woof.

Yes, all-inclusive. We'll leave on Monday and get home on Sunday. Direct flights both ways. Looking forward to it.

I will pay obscene amounts of money to fly direct.

Yea sorry, I meant this past week for work in Barbados it was the obscene flight times. I’m never spending my own money to spend fucking 14 hours traveling to the Caribbean. I’ll gladly get paid to sit in an airport though.

You've kind of inspired me.  More of a 4-day weekend thing (because of half a day flying), but can't knock the international weekend trip.

Just booked our honeymoon yesterday for a crazy good deal to Ho Chi Minh and Tokyo.  $640 a ticket and only one leg of the trip is not direct.  Other than Thailand, the cheapest flights to Asia (from DC)  I have seen are around $850 and that is with multiple stops.  Pretty pumped.

Japan seems to be hot destination these days. I had some friends go there for the Cherry Blossom fest a few weeks ago and another going next month.

I researched the hell out of a Euro spec approved carry-on. There are so many out there, it's hard to find one that meets the requirements for all airlines.

Away was highly recommended by a friend, but it's pricey. I also don't really care about the built in charger and already travel with an extra battery. The reviews are great though and it meets all the dimension requirements.

Last yr I went to Portugal and brought a solid suitcase. This yr for my honeymoon we're going to Sweden and Denmark and I'm bringing significantly less stuff. Got some merino and one bag shirts, and some spiffy pants that look like jeans but are stretchy/odor resistance. Goal is to pack less to not have to lug a suitcase around.

Du/er and Pistol Lake are the brands I bought, thinking it will work out quite nicely.

Somewhat random but still applies to my travels. You hike / train run, correct?

I'm going to be doing a few hikes, was thinking of picking up some trail running shoes (Saucony). Thoughts? I usually use some old Asics running shoes but they are currently destroyed and worn on the bottom. Also, nothing I'll be doing will warrant hiking boot and I don't like them anyway. If I find a nice pair of trail runners I can use them on the hikes and other random exploring.

Oh yeah, big into hiking and running (though I haven't been running much in April). I'm a nike/adidas guy but I've heard GREAT things about hooka (https://runrepeat.com/hoka-one-one-constant)

Couple of questions for you to help: you want exclusively trail shoes? Or do you want some shoes that will be good on paved surfaces as well? I dont know anything about Saconys, but also would be helpful to know what you want out of a shoe (Ie if comfort is the only thing I would say go Ultraboosts but don't anticipate them lasting that long). I like these as I usually run 6-10 miles, but they're also durable. The shoes I currently have: https://runrepeat.com/nike-free-rn-distance-2

Something made for the trail with the nubs on the bottom for traction, but I could also use to walk around on pavement for long periods. I only want to bring two pairs of shoes, the trail runners and something casual for "going out."

Saucony Peregrine 7 is what I'm looking at.
