Cleveland Browns 2023 Season Thread

I'm expecting this game tomorrow night to be a dogfight. The Jets rushing attack showed some signs of life with Breece Hall and their defense is tough. They also have a very good special teams unit. That's something to watch with the possibility of a backup punter for the Browns. Plus, it's never easy for the Browns.

Watson is back at the facility. Hopefully he's been watching Flacco and the lightbulb has gone off in his head where he says "gee, maybe if we run play action from under center, instead of shotgun (like I do 90% of the time), like Joe does, maybe it will open up throwing lanes and I can use my legs more to may the offense more explosive/dynamic" But I doubt it since all of these pups have to go from the gun and hamper the running game. Watson needs to morph his game more towards Stefanski's offense than vice versa. Stefanski has proven it works with a 39 year old "washed" QB and a middle of the road QB in Mayfield. It would explode if Watson bought in.

I expect this to be a tough game for Cleveland’s offense. Sauce vs Cooper….Jets should get some pass rush. Yeah the Jets suck but I expect this to be a 20-17 game either way….the Browns are trending nicely towards being a major contender in the end….so maybe they just roll them 30-9

Browns have become very one dimensional. If their tackles were healthy I'd expect a much better rushing attack. Jets have a solid pass rush so I hope Flacco doesn't start throwing it up for grabs.

I do expect the defense to be super amped in that atmosphere and be in the Jets backfield all night.

It will be a "white out" as the Browns will be in all white's, including helmets.

Browns at home I didn’t realize….leaning more towards the 30-7.

They've only lost one at home, and that was the DTR finding out he was starting 30 minutes before the game debacle against the Rats. Hope the home field magic continues. It will definitely be an electric/playoff-like atmosphere.

As a Browns die hard would you prefer Flacco be upright like last game and win easily or Flacco be challenged with many QB hurries from great pass rush and some sacks but adjust and prevail?

Upright. I am not worried about Flacco and his pocket presence and adjusting to the game. He’s done it and is a veteran. Stay healthy. Keep learning the playbook. Make the playoffs.

Each game it seems more and more plays are being incorporated for him, and more and more elaborate no huddle/audibles. Just need that to continue and the offense should be formidable enough to give them a chance if the D travels…

Also, today is the 59th anniversary of the Browns last championship.

(I actually had to use my calculator to make sure I had this right)

I'm with Laley on this one. My nervousness is more due to the Jets defense, specifically their front 4 and secondary, than the Browns losing to them. Browns could lose both games and still have a 99% chance of getting in.

Flacco is a bit more mobile than many thought (play action) but the Browns dodged a bullet against Houston with their top edge rusher getting injured early.

The Jets have 5-6 guys who can get to the passer, both from the interior and on the edge. If their corners hang with Cooper, Moore, etc for any length of time, it's going to allow the pass rush to get home. Browns tackles absolutely suck so KS is going to have to scheme help from TE's, RB's & WR's chipping.

My biggest concern, more than losing, is losing Flacco due to injury. Nobody wants to see PJ Walker again. And the norm is now 40+ drop backs for Flacco every game due to the anemic rushing attack.

I don't expect much from the Jets offense, in this hostile environment, but I've definitely been wrong before. Unless the Browns start gift wrapping them points, it should be tough sledding for their offense. This could be a "get right game" in the DPOY conversation for MG95.

Such an embarrassing sponsor but if anyone's going to the game tomorrow night and want an upgrade on an old jersey. I tried to give a homeless dude a Manziel jersey and he threw it back at me.

Doesn't seem like Thursday night games have been AS BAD this year, but seems almost unfair to subject teams to that late in the season when they are pushing & preparing for the playoffs.

This one could be the ugly Pats vs Steelers game we were expecting, offensively, from a few weeks ago.

I was surprised that neither Cleveland nor the Jets played Saturday last week. Seems like going Sunday-Saturday-Thursday would be a bit preferable as far as giving players rest time for those rare late-season weeks where that is an option. Especially since it is late in the season and everyone's banged up to some degree.

NFL doesn't care.

And it's not even just about sufficient rest time - the short week affects prep and gameplanning, which is counterproductive to rounding your team into form heading into the playoffs.

Not to mention playoff and seeding implications when you don't have a full week to prep for the game.

I think the whole Thursday games are garbage, and it's often on full display with the product.  If the NFL insists on having these games, it should only be teams coming off a bye, and off a Saturday late in the year when there are no more byes.

Imagine if this were BAL vs. MIA with the #1 seed potentially on the line.  Thursday games are always tough on a team, and it's just not an even playing field late in the year.

NFL needs to tweak schedules to accommodate the Thursday games (bye week prior). But Amazon has a 10 year contract, for 17 weeks (the weeks could change). So, it’s not going anywhere

I agree, I'm just saying it's unfair to playoff teams late in the year.  Maybe not a huge disadvantage, but it's less than a level playing field.

The NFL said that there wouldn’t be any games when Christmas is on a Tuesday or Wednesday. But then today it was announced the Raiders - Chiefs game alone had twice as many viewers as all five NBA games combined. So you know when they announce the schedules for next year they’ll figure out how to have Bills - Chiefs at 4pm Christmas Day which happens to be a Wednesday in 2024.

I’m here for it. I was shocked there were football games on Christmas but was happy not kinda watching NBA games
