Ive never had any luck with Cohibas. Every one I tried burned funny. (canoed)

I had my first Cohiba this weekend. It was good, but nothing spectacular. I would smoke one again, for sure.

I did not, however, like the Perdomo Fresco's at all. The first one (natural) made me nauseous, the second (maduro) had a terrible draw. After 45 minutes I was barely a third through the cigar.

I've had a few that did, but I've had a few that burned perfectly, too.

Well hell.  I feel bad for pointing you that way.  I've never had that bad an experience with one, though I've not had a maduro one ever, I don't think.

Every cigar is different. Maybe the way that it was made. Different roller and such. That's why you always try them a second or third time. I've known of a few people that hated a cigar, then liked it on their second try. Kinda like the I hate IPA's, only to realize 6 months later they love IPA's.

I won't give up on the Cohiba and I'll try it again. Honestly I've only had them on 5 occasions. 4 of them canoed. The Sales Rep for General Cigars actually gave me a 3 burner lighter even after I told him about the issues i had with them.

Gonna try out an Ave Maria Immaculata today.  Never had one, but I always see them floating around.

Not your fault, I actually forgot you had recommended them and went off the recommendation from the guy at the cigar shop. But like Curly said, I'll give them another shot.

I thought the Black Market Vandal was an appropriate choice to celebrate the treasonous acts of the inssurectionous, rebellious lot we call "the founders."

Paired it with the GLBC Buckin' Mule, which will be a first for me.

Had another Punch Gran Puro Nicaragua last night. I love that cigar, I will be stocking up on them soon.

Put in a big order at famous smoke last night. I've given up on the Thompson order ever coming in. At this point my card has never been charged and the order listed on my account is marked as canceled with no items in it. If something ends up coming or I get charged I'm just going to dispute it with my CC company.

I plan on having a couple or 3 sticks today. Heading over to a Brother Of The Leaf's house for a grill out. Hopefully the rain will stay away.

I did buy a 20 pack of Vicarias Black Labels on Thursday at the cigar event. I need to put some in my travel humidor. Didn't win anything in the raffle.

I've had those Punch before Justin, they are a good smoke.

Enjoy the day, I need the weather to hold off as well so hopefully we both luck out.

Wow. My order from Famous Smoke has already shipped. I'll probably get it tomorrow or Wednesday. Quite the change from my experience with Thompson.

I may try to work outside today and just enjoy one while I do.
I feel one of the candelas calling my name already.

New order on the way.  I'm going for more of the 4.5"-5" size to maximize capacity and variety in my humidor.  Also, I'm preferring that size either for a quick smoke, or a chance to sample 2 over a time roughly equivalent to smoking one double corona.

5 Punch oscuro

5 Rocky Patel decade cameroon

5 Partagas 1845 extra oscuro (as far as I can tell one of the fullest bodied cigars out there, being equivalent to double/triple maduro)

As for the bovee humidity packs, they seem to be doing the job.  But I had the 69% kind, and it's settled into about 66%.  Apparently they will typically maintain at something like 3-6% below the labeling.  That's what they say despite claiming +/- 1% variance.  Weird.  Anyway, ordered the 72% packs and will see how that goes.

Delivery day from Famous Smoke:

That's a nice haul!  Just had that Romeo over the weekend (the one in the bottom middle bunch, not the top middle bunch).  Solid, solid stick.

Not sure if it would make a ton of sense logistically, but I wanted to throw out the idea of potentially doing a group box purchase. I've been browsing cigarauctioneer.com heavily the last few days and it looks like decent deals can be had. That said, I'm not sure I want/need to buy an entire box of anything. I know shipping wouldn't be too expensive, and in the end we might end up with some decent deals. I think for it to make much sense it would need to be for a pricier box, or finding one with a huge discount. Anyway, just throwing that out there.

Here's a decent example of something that might make sense.

Well-rated cigar. Cheapest 5-pack I'm finding is $44.50 + shipping. Singles are around $9+. Split this box 5 ways (with their shipping is ~$25, not sure if they charge tax to Ohio). Add $5 for split shipping and you're looking at ~$30 for a 5-pack.

CI seems to have a lot of ~90+ rated cigars for <$25 for 5 sticks.  Although the Rocky Patel's I just got were almost $10 a piece.

Not sure I can tell the difference, not yet anyway, between a $5 and $10 cigar.  So the range I'll probably stick with is that $4-$5 in packs of 5.  I'm ultimately just trying to find a range of light-medium-full body cigars to stock my humidor.  It can hold probably about 35-40 sticks, so I'm looking to nail down 8 different sticks I really enjoy.

So do you guys remove the cellos from your cigars or not?  Leaving the cellos on completely ruins the aesthetic - naked definitely enhances the collecting aspect.

Since I'll probably smoke any cigar I buy within a year, probably doesn't matter, but my humidor doesn't really provide for good separation of the cigars.

Considering aging some of my favorites.  Although it doesn't appear to be much benefit from aging, it might be nice to set aside a few of my favorites to try again in 5 & 10 years.  Maybe just get another small humidor and throw two of my favorites in every year to age.  Even if on average there's no improvement, you'd still have the thrill of not knowing what you're going to get, along with the satisfaction puffing away on a stogie you bought 15-20 years ago.

I left the cello on the cigars I just got in, not sure if they'll stay on long term or not. I'm considering picking up a few tupperdor's as my collection grows. One for long-term aging, and one for infused. I'll probably use my wooden humidor for my regular smokes, and remove the cello from any stick in there.

Makes sense. My thought on a box break is that you can potentially try $9-10 sticks (there, I used it for the first time) for $4-6. I'll try to find more folks locally that smoke cigars.
