Jungle Jim's finally has a dedicated cigar room, so no more sitting out in the cold on Thursday Nights. It's called Oscar Station that includes a huge bourbon bar. They have their top brands hanging from an old dry cleaners rack that rotates around the bar. Prices for those range from $16.00 to $120.00 for a 1.5 ounce pour. They do have lots of good bourbon that are lowed priced too. (Buffalo Trace, Woodford, Wellers)

They are having a big event there Saturday November 23rd with multiple cigar vendors. Believe there will be a band and huge deals I'm sure. I think it runs from 4pm until 9pm. Yes you can bring your own cigars.

So anyone tried re-charging their Boveda packs yet?  It seems straightforward, but I wonder how long you let them re-charge.  Seems like what I've seen is 5 days up to 2 weeks.

I haven't yet, but I need to. Two of mine are pretty solid. I'll let you know how it goes.

We've got tickets for the UC/Temple football game that day, hopefully it will be an early game and I can run up for this. Otherwise I'll be there for a Thursday night event at least once before the year ends.

Way ahead of you - started on mine yesterday.  I assume you can kind of tell by touch, and if you take them out too soon that just means they won't last quite as long.  I put them in a smaller tupperware container inside another sealed with distilled water.

I'm going to go with 5 days.  Not a big deal since I threw in some fresh packs (because I have a bunch of extras after starting out with 69%, then 72% and finally settled on 75% - 3 of those for a 50 stick humidor keeps it steady at 71%).  But the 69% I have in there now only get it to about 66%.

I hadn't actually had a cigar in a while, and noticed my humidity had dropped to about 68% so I knew they were pretty crispy.

So, I tried a new stick today.  A Chillin' Moose.

I came in with very low expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised.  Reminded me of a slightly milder Mx2.  For the price, it was definitely worth the smoke.

I haven't been having as many cigars lately.  I still enjoy a good smoke, but I've been getting into my pipes more.  Years back, my wife got something of her estranged grandfather's: a set of old pipes.  Turns out, they're 80+ years old.  She gave them to me as a gift for my birthday that year.  I cleaned them (thanks, Google) and got them ready to smoke again.  They've been really nice.

Since I didn't know much about pipe tobacco at the time, I got advice from a friend who enjoys them.  Glad I did.  It's been a nice change of pace when I don't want to spend an hour or more smoking.

Funny you mentioned Chillin' Moose. I had one last Thursday. Looking at the wrapper I removed from it right now. I've had this one a few times and really enjoy it.

My first attempt at recharging a Boveda pack was successful. I think I had it soak for 5 days. It wasn't fully recharged, there were still a few little hard beads in there, but it was close enough. I've got another full size 72% and a small packet recharging now.

I did the osmosis method....after 5 days, nothing.  I think my tupperware probably wasn't air-tight, so I put some sarran wrap over top.  That doesn't seem to be cutting it, either.  I think it's done a little, but like only about 5%.

Trying to avoid the soak or paper-towel method as that will eventually compromise the packets.

If I can get 2-3 recharges out of a single packet I'll be happy, I think.

Online some people have gotten YEARS out of their packets.

It's mostly about laziness for me.  Maybe the osmosis method was working, but might take more like 2+ weeks.  I put them in a jar which I'm pretty sure is almost air-tight, so we'll see how that goes.

My other thought was to just put a shot glass of distilled water in my humidor to recharge, but I'm not sure if they can actually keep up with that much humidity.  Might be worth the experiment.

Got to meet the Illustrious Potentate Justin tonight at Cigars. Gave him a couple of sticks. Hope he won't be a stranger. It's been about 6 years since I saw him. Next time I'll have a Tre-J's gift pack for you. I did buy a box of The Negotiator tonight from them. Nice 35 minutes smoke. Their is a huge story behind that cigar that only Jay can tell you.

Thank Ms Incredible once again for letting her away from you. I had a great time.

Having an Alec Bradley Gatekeeper tonight. Nice medium body cigar with a light draw. I've liked about every cigar I've had from them. It pairs well with the coffee stout that I'm drinking.

I think I’m going to have that Tabak Especial you gave me tomorrow morning. It smells great, I’m really looking forward to it.

Had a pipe and an Illusione 888 while watching the Buckeyes game on Saturday at my local spot.  Good time.

Currently having a My Father's La Opulencia. Very  nice. I did some research on it a few minutes ago. It was ranked top 5 in a couple of cigar polls. I really like their cigars. Any one in Cincy area they are the feature cigar at the event at Jungle Jim's Eastgate. I won't be there, but thinking I may know someone who is going...

Tonight's feature is Crowned Heads. They have worked with other cigar manufacturers to develop a couple of blends that you can only get in Ohio. Last year it was Buckeye Land. They just released a new one for Ohio only called La Coalition. I'm having that one next.

I was pretty bummed when I realized I couldn't make it tonight, but I'm definitely looking forward to the My Father event next Friday. I'll keep watching the Fairfield events calendar.

Next week it's Tre J's official kick off of The Negotiator. (Which I already bought a box)

And I was wrong about the LA Coalition. It's nationwide, not just exclusive to Ohio. Only the Buckeye Land. Just double checked with Miguel...and it's good smoke

I report no success with the osmosis recharge method.  I got MAYBE 20%.

Trying again doing 1 pack at a time instead of 3.  Can't see how that is going to matter.

I'm not even going to try to recharge a cheap thing to buy. Plus I just have them in my Wynodor because I had them on hand. I have beads and gels in there that do most of the work. I've got at least 5 gel tunes, 3 gel jars, and to big bags of beads. Just checked my humidity packs and they are still soft. I actually am a little on the high side of humidity right now. Waiting for it to calm down hopefully.

Picked up a box of those Illusione 888 candelas and a new can of aromatic pipe tobacco.

I catch a lot of shit for liking aromatics (the mantra among my pipe-smoking brethren is that aromatics are for women and children), but I like them all the same.  More importantly, my wife likes the smell, so I catch less heat for having a pipe during the day.

Ehhh, if they were easy to re-charge it's no hassle.  Otherwise I'd go thru about 18 packs a year...not really in the habit of burning $100 dollar bills if I don't have to.

Have you tried the soak method yet? It's very easy and only takes 5-6 days to recharge a pack fully.
