This shit is getting old.  I'm am of firm stance that guns are not the problem.  Access to guns are not the problem.  Killers will kill just as drug abusers will abuse drugs.  I am unwavering on my stance.  You want to fix shit, then we as a nation need to get to the bottom of why the fuck this problem persists.  These fucks are killing for sport.  They're killing for notoriety.  They're "killing in the name of..."  I have zero answers, and I wouldn't know where to begin.

I completely agree.  Whether because of "white supremacy" or "radical Islam".....these are sick people that are just latching on to an outlet for their hate - if you could take that away, they'd just find another twisted cause.

They seem to do it mainly for the notoriety, and to make other people feel their pain.  So I think the root cause is a mental health issue.  Problem is, for every person you might accurately target you'll have hundreds of false positives.  I think a start would be much much less media coverage to at least take the infamy and notoriety out of it.

One of the victims was his sister.

2019 - Click bait.  Someone will ALWAYS cover the shit that will draw the most attention.  If a media outlet wanted to take the high road and refuse to give coverage, the sheep will flock to other sources and outlets.  Good luck fixing the sheep.

This x1000.  I believe the media and its virtue signaling on division is part of it.

If there can be degrees of insanity in something like this....it's crazy that he killed his own sister, too.  Imagine what the parents are going through.

He was wearing body armor, too, so he was really going for max casualties.

All under 1 minute. Such a sad last couple evenings. Hopefully the streak doesn’t continue tonight.

If we spent as much money on domestic terrorism (more talking El Paso here as I have no clue what Dayton motives were) we do the Middle East, we could have this handled very quickly. Problem is, they are citizens and have rights.

I just know I’m terrified to go to work every week because I’m in giant, people filled stadiums. Hell, I was worried going to the grocery tonight.

Wasn't the whole thing with Snowden that the FBI/CIA are doing basically just that, scraping all forms of internet and phone comms to identify potential targets?  There are hundreds, probably thousands, of people just like the El Paso shooter who are never going to do anything.

I'm not sure how you can stop these people.  People without glaring signs of mental instability and acting alone don't leave many puzzle pieces to put together.  I don't think we ever did (or will) learn of what happened with that Vegas shooting.

I know you can’t. Im saying if they treated it like Middle East terrorism though, those thousands of people would all be arrested, interrogated, then released if need be. But we can’t do that to our own citizens on our own soil. Start getting arrested for stupid shit you post online, might stop people from posting stupid shit online and whittle it down to the true threats.

I don’t know, I’m just sick of being scared for everyone I love. And sick of people claiming (most of) the mass shooting isn’t terrorism. Different road on a similar topic...I’d be throwing all members of the KKK or anyone who participated in marches in jail for the same amount you’d throw a Middle Eastern terrorist in jail who hasn’t committed a murder yet.

Figuring out why this country's depression and suicide rates keep rising would be a good start.  Probably a good mixture of everything, but social media and the media certainly doesn't help.   We are also seeing the effects of any entire generation having SRIs pushed on them.

This is why I tell people to get out more and quit consuming so much of the news/social media.

Not to sound insensitive, but I don't understand how or why.  Mass shooting probably doesn't crack the top-100 causes of premature death, probably on par with death by bus crash.

Probably because my mom works at a school where whites barley make up the majority. My aunt is a campaign consultant for both parties (whichever hires her). My uncle is a federal judge who puts people away for life. My dad is a lawyer. Just jobs where it seems they could be targets. My wife was a teacher for 6 years before quitting and moving on thank god. She had 4 lockdowns at 2 different schools in that time. 3/4 times there was a weapon present, but never made it inside.

And because I go to sporting events weekly and I can see how easy it would be to do heavy damage if one was so inclined. The security at those places is pathetic if someone did any planning. Sure, you try to bring your gun through the ticket line, probably going to be caught. But you do any planning and you can have a gun under whatever seat you want prior.

Twitter was hacked and that pic was planted.

Also....CNN reporting that this kid had a lengthy  juvenile record of threats and had a kill list in HS.  He spent a whole year sent away after being arrested on a school bus.

How so? What does radical Islam have to do with this topic or 98% of mass shootings in the US?
