THey are all breaking the laws of this country equally. We have a legal immigration system. If they want asylum from persecution there are laws that allow them to do that.
None of it involves showing up at a border crossing and expecting 3 hots and a cot.

Our legal system fucking sucks. It can take years, years to even get a hearing, and even then the odds of getting in are slim and none. Oh, an the previous administration cut the number of judges and the number of people that would be accepted into the country. You have heard the stories of Iraqi and Afghan translators that fought for our guys, and yet they have extreme difficulties coming in.
What is needed is a complete overhaul of the immigration system. But, no one in Congress really wants to tackle it because it is complicated.

Social welfare programs that are paid by taxation does not allow for this to happen fairly any more. Illegal immigrants are a drain on the system now unlike before.
100 years ago you had to come and actually succeed to survive. you had to assimilate to America by learning the language and follow the laws of this country.

They didn't just show up. It took many of them years to prove that they had a sponsor in the United States and had employment. Then they had to go through inspection at Ellis Island. Only a small percentage from each country were allowed in yearly.
