And WHO has the biggest influence on the attitude of the players?!?!?!?
Parents and grandparents who talk negatively about other people all the time. Especially bad mouthing coaches who know more and have accomplished more than they could ever dream of doing.

Amen to that. I was at the Bears game with a friend Friday. A grandparent of a player was behind me and was sitting right next to Coach Zuerchers brother, mother and family. On EVERY play she bashed the coach. A kid drops a ball. She complained about the coach. Face mask penalty. She complained about the coach. Kid fumbles the ball. Blamed the coach.
The coaches family, who is filled with great athletes and people never said a word. Just gracefully took it all night long while the Bears destroyed Hillsdale.
I just shook my head and had to feel sorry for someone who is so miserable.
To all those who want to complain about your coaches. Shut your mouth and try building people up for once. You will find you are the one who is much happier in life.

You are preaching to the choir...I have said these exact words on here for years now. Here is a picture that was posted over on the Orrville thread. I think it pretty much sums it all up. I remember our old AD quoting this at a parent meeting one year. I think Bill Parcells said it.

Speaking of heroes...I know that I saw a post on here from Hunter86...didn't I? Where did it go? As soon as someone mentioned our coach he started salivating and couldn't wait to post something.
Norwayne made adjustments at halftime & ended up coming out on top. The Bears came out thinking they had the game won already & played flat in the 2nd half & let it get away. Nothing more to say, it was their game to win or lose.
  • Havin Fun
The Bears didn't come out flat. They lost their #1 back and tackler to an ankle injury in the second half and also a receiver and safety to injury. And they could not bring Miller down. All that and still if the kids hang on and tackle miller on 4th and 2 after he was hit two yards behind the line of scrimmage late in the fourth, the Bears win the game.
Give credit where credit is due. Miller wore down a much smaller Bear line and it showed in the second half.

I am so happy we have you to break it down for us..."it was their game to win or lose"....really? Isn't that the case for every game on our schedule?

P.S. Every player was allowed in the halftime locker room @ Triway.

A couple low percentage deep routes, on 3rd and short, in the second half helped Norwayne a lot. Most coaches wouldn't have played those X's and O's....

Anyways....did you all see Norwayne will be playing Orrville in 2016 and 2017? Kinda cool I guess.

Like I have ALWAYS said on here...it will ALWAYS boil down to the players (Jimmys/Joes) making plays. Yes...coaches get them prepared and can make adjustments during the game...but NONE of that means a thing if the kids can't execute when it matters.
    This guy!

Long time reader. I just don't know how much more of your antics I can handle! You really do go above and beyond to make this site miserable for other posters!

Hey MamaBear...below is a post from Havin Fun (which is another great post). How is his post any different from what I have been saying? It all comes down to execution, doesn't it?

That girl! (I haven't heard from you in a couple years...:RpS_blink:)
Havin Fun;1753279 wrote:First, when working with kids, what is most important? A coach who is a good role model? Or MAYBE a few more wins over ten years?
i do recall a few pass plays in the red zone that were intercepted in the end zone. I get that. What happened Friday night inside the five yard line? Your star back fumbled the ball into the end zone. If the Bears had lost the game, I guarantee somebody would have blamed the coach for not passing in that situation.

Most. of the losses I have seen at Waynedale over the years have been due to dropped passes, fumbles, stupid penalties at the wrong time, etc.

Done with my rant. Have a great day all.

The Bears and Bobcats are both very good teams! Seems like the game could have gone either way because they were equally matched. They could end up seeing each other in the playoffs! The Waynedale/Chippewa game this week will be a dandy! the other games maybe not so exciting. Smithville needs to get healthy before they face Norwayne, Chippewa and Waynedale!!! Still a lot of season left! Looked at the computer rankings and still 6 WCAL teams in the hunt for a playoff spot. Glad to see WCAL on the up swing.

    My Predictions this week...

    Chipp over waynedale by 13
Cats over the dogs by 24
Smithies over the Indians by 35
Falcons over the Huskies by 7

El Choppo speaks the truth. Still thinks the cats will win the league. I think they run the table and a then lose to chipp in the first round of the playoffs

Three of the four games are easy picks this week. Any word on the Bennet kid and his status for Friday after an apparent concussion last week? If he doesn't play, that will affect the Chipps ability to stretch the field. If he had a concussion there is no way he could be cleared in less than a week anymore. Definitely the best league game this week.

Looks like the Smithies will have some players out again this week too. Bears and Chipps game a toss up, who wants it more??? Prayers to the Northwestern player that was injured last week. He will have a long road to recovery. (concussion that lead to a stroke). It is injuries like his that put all of this into perspective!

"TOUCHDOWN FOR TY" has been started by Green Elementary School staff members to assist the family of Ty Carlson, a Northwestern football player who suffered a stroke Saturday, after an injury in the game last Friday between Smithville and Northwestern. There is an article in today's Daily Record. Our students will collect $1 in exchange for a paper football that can be signed with a message to Ty. The money (and footballs) will be delivered to the Carlson family to help defray medical costs. The high school and middle school students will also join the campaign. While we are competitors on the field, we are united in the face of adversity. Please join us in wishing Ty a speedy recovery by supporting this fundraiser! Collection will be through October 9.

How can you say Chippewa would beat Norwayne in the playoffs? No way! I found it hard to believe so many people labeled the Chipps as the most talented team in the league. Outside of Britenstein, and Bennet, they don't have a ton of talent. They are young, and not very physical up front as well. Waynedale is much deeper than the Chipps, and I would be surprised they don't win big Friday.
Norwayne dominated the game last week. They owned Chippewa up front, and forced turnovers with their pressure. Chippewa had no answers for Miller, or the Jet sweep. Norwayne, was just th better team.

Norwayne will lose to Chipp, you heard it here first. Waynedale might be deep in talent but they are waynedale.. I think it's cute you guys have inside jokes on an anonymous forum..

What are you talking about? Norwayne ALREADY beat Chipps. They will again. Jeremy Miller and the Cats line cant be stopped by Chippewa. This weeks game with the Bears should be a burner!

I think the WCAL will definitely get 3, maybe 4 teams and possibly 5 in week 11, Although 5 is probably a long shot.

D5 Waynedale...The Bears are going to the show barring an epic collapse. The math man has them needing only 6 wins to get in (96% w/6). Now at 4-1, they already have played Norwayne. Chippewa this week will be highly entertaining and then it's on to the second tier of the WCAL.

D5 Norwayne...Now sitting at 4-1, Pasteur's math says 7 wins (99%) to play in week 11. Six wins still gives them a 79% chance...with Dalton, Rittman & Northwestern as highly probable wins. The Bobcats will easily make the playoffs.

D6 Hillsdale...Pasteur has them at a 97% playoff chance with 7 wins. They are 4-1 now. They still haven't played Dalton, Rittman & Northwestern, 3 games they should prevail in. Chippewa & Norwayne will be a rougher road. An upset of either of those two basically guarantees a berth. I think Hillsdale makes the playoffs as long as they take care of business.

D5 Chippewa...Right now the magic numbers for Doylestown are 7 (83%) or 8 (99%). they are 4-1 now. They need to finish out at 4-1 or 3-2 at the worst. Waynedale, Smithville, Hillsdale, Northwestern and Dalton are the remaining opponents. I think they will cover the necessary wins to make the playoffs.

D6 Smithville...Here's the team that's probably gonna need to pull off the big upset. Fantastic 50 gives them an 82% chance with 7 wins and 100% with 8. The Smithies are 4-1 now and still need to play this years big 3....6 wins is the bubble. They need to avoid being upset by Rittman and Dalton and hang a loss on Nor, WD or Chipp.
