Good luck to the red devils this year!!

BTrev- How's struthers enrollment? are your graduating classes shrinking or even staying the same.

I heard last year's graduating class for Campbell was only about 60 Kids. Seems like so long ago, but i believe our graduating class had about 100-115 kids in it.

Thanks BTrev. Every Campbell fan would like to see 7-8 wins and a playoff berth. But being realistic, I expect no more than 3-5 wins this year. Like I said, improvement does not always translate to wins. Watching the first scrimmage showed me that the kids have definitely found the door to the weightroom again. They have gotten bigger and stronger, something that was seriously lacking over the past few seasons. Campbell dropping down to D-6 could benefit them in the coming years should this rebuilding project stay on course. Being D-6 however may affect the long standing Struthers-Campbell rivalry. With Struthers having more than 100 boys in grades 10-12 than Campbell, the days of the rivalry could eventually come to an end. I don't see Campbell moving up in division in the coming years. And how much advantage is it for Struthers at D-4 playing a D-6 team? Of course the rivalry has significance because the cities are separated by a river and there is so much history. But it is what it is. Campbell's goal this season is to win a few more games than last season and to be competitive in every game. Good luck to Struthers this season.........except during the Campbell game!!!

I expect to see a shake up with these tiers again. Girard is now up to 200 boys they shouldnt be in the lower tier. That being said I think we have 3 D4 teams on the schedule, I think 4 D5 teams (what is py valley?) and 3 D6 teams. I think the schedule will shake up with either Lakeview, Girard, Struthers coming off the schedule. Girard is in our tier so they stay. Lakeview is the logical choice to go. Id personally like to see JFK back on the schedule. With 127 boys this is just where were headed.

Maybe. But would they shake up the tiers just to appease Campbell? Py Valley is D-5 with 155 boys.

Devils played better against Lakeview this past Friday. Relatively speaking of course. Down 14-0 in 4th driving the ball down into Lakeview, had a real chance to cut the deficit to a TD but stalled out with a bad penalty. Penalties didnt help us, but all in all the Devils have really improved.

Seemed they have. I was really impressed against a real good Lakeview team. The offence needs to get some adjustments. but way better than I expected. we should get a few wins this year. A few bad brakes hurt us. We almost broke a few to the house. and some brakes it would be tied up at the end. The officials didn't call a bad game. they just didn't seem to call the game on both teams equally. but still Campbell made just a few mistakes and cost them at the end. But we ran the ball very well. People will see the score and think another year of the same. But I don't think they understand unless they were there just how much this team has improved. I think we could get a few wins this year we wouldn't have last year. we will see. Rozum is doing his thing and it's starting to show! Rozum is doing a fantastic job getting these kids to believe in them selves Go devils.

Gonna be an interesting year for Campbell.

Looking at what just happened to south range at the hands of jfk, Campbell can be 2-1 heading into the labrae game.

Well, will see. We only have 7 seniors on the team total. And 32 or 31 players out. Have to stay healthy. or it could have a very bad impact. We are a lot stronger than we have been in the past and bigger. just a few brakes our way could have made a difference, but it didn't happen. Lakeview won the game fair and square!

I have to say i was pleasantely surprised in how much physically bigger the red devils are this year. Offensively it's going to take some time, i think the majorty of linemen are sophomores and the qb is a sophomore as well. We moved the ball well between the tackles but really struggled to get anything on the outside.

All things considered, i thought the defense played okay. They got beat on 2 long plays and lakeview missed an additional one as well.

It sucks to get shutout, but from where the team was last year, it looks like there heading in the right direction.

I have to say I agree. The one thing all Campbell teams have been missing for a very long time is the physical strength. And this team is physically bigger and stronger. they hit harder then I seen from a Campbell team in a long time. just need to get the offence going. Which did start to come a little during the 4th here and there! Just got to hope we stay healthy throughout the season. Next week we i think have a good chance at one of those W's

South Range was an ugly one boys. They showed a couple of bright spots but still have a long way to go.

Yeah, it was. But we went from playing in a loss that we could have won to just being completely outplayed and made many mistakes. it was the total opposite from the Lakeview game. I agree seen some impressive stuff. But we should have played better than we did. I think the loss to Lakeview hurt us more then we know as far as our confidence.
  • Devilone
    We got one!!!!!
  • reddevil90
LOL yeah, we did. at first I thought it was just another night. But then we turned it on. A win is a win and we ran the ball and threw very well. Good win Devils.
  • reddevil90
I just don't get it. We can not catch a break. we are playing better than last years team. But we can't just get over the hump. But Hey how is that great studders team doing this year? Heard they are destined for the playoffs. What was it possibly 8-2 and a decent run through playoffs. Well anyways we have to give credit we don't give up and we fight every game. But we just don't have the depth. So close but yet so far. But I'm still hopeful we can get a couple more wins this year. Teams have to battle Campbell's for their wins.

yes this team is much better than last year. yes this team doesn't quit. yes this team is limited with depth, but you still can't lose to this liberty team. that was the smallest liberty team i have ever seen. liberty had scored a total of one 1 offensive td in their first 4 games, and yet they controlled the game. campbell has zero passing game, and until they figure out how, teams will continually load the box. why didn't campbell try and run from the spread last night to try and loosen up liberty's defense? all that being said, have to regroup for girard, which is a very possible win. NOTE: i don't like to blame officials, but when liberty's own police are shaking their heads at the officials, you know how bad it was. BTW, that back judge should never be allowed to officiate a game at any level ever again. Go Devils!

Girard is winless. They are itching for a win. Campbell is still young. The Devils have the potential to win this game. What I am looking for is improvement each week over the last five weeks of the season.
  • reddevil90
Not sure how this game will go. Agree we should have a chance to win. I hope we do. I would like to see us get at least 3 to 4 wins this season.
  • reddevil90
Scary game tonight. A win is in the books. We need more production from the offence side. But we got a W and we beat Girard. Ya.
  • Camp1999
Good luck to the Red devils this week against Struthers!

If we get past Studders I would be happy for the rest of the season. I still think we can get two more wins this season. I would like to see a good run finish off the season and win them all. But I know that more than likely won't happen. But it would be fantastic wouldn't it. But I'll settle for a good old kitty ass whooping. Here are to the devils. Get em boys.

This will be an ugly blowout...
