Wayne County Athletic League Football 2014

O-TrapFrom what I gather, Smithville played a good half of football.

Chipps jumped up 13-0 quickly. Then like so many times they seem to become disinterested, and flat. Smithville had a nice drive to close the gap 13-7. From that point Smithville controlled the remainder of the half, but could not score. The second half was a whole different story. Chippewa came out with a sense of urgency, and dominated the second half. I have been critical of the Chipps defense, BUT tonight they played pretty good. They controlled the second half. The last drive of the game Smithville moved the ball, but Chippewa had subbed quite a bit. Not saying they will, or will not make a run, but I'd take the effort on d tonight every week.O-Trap;1664479 wrote:From what I gather, Smithville played a good half of football. -
scotmichthose last two td came in the 4th, when smithville was in gamble mode..... again u guys have a better team then smithville..... but one and done in the playoffs.... maybe if ur luckly u win the first one........ ur all shocked that we played u so well.... u all thought it was going to be another blow out... and for those that watched the game u know the truth......

TheWizardAnyone who had a realistic idea of the Chippewa/Smithville game knew it was going to be a tight game, and not a blowout. Smithville is a methodical, fundamentally sound football team. Heck, they barely made any mistakes tonight with turnovers and penalties. Chippewa hit some big plays, but the defense really stepped up tonight. Smithville had one great scoring drive, and another quality drive, but the Chipps held. Chippewa was not very crisp on offense tonight as in previous games, but a lot of it had to do with the defense of Smithville playing well. In the end, just a couple more playmakers for the Chipps was the difference.
The Chipps region for playoffs is an absolute meat grinder, especially with the MAC monster Coldwater in it. So saying one and done is a strong possibility. But, it would be nice to be playing week 11 regardless.
The win tonight just sets up the huge matchup between Chippewa and Hillsdale next week. That will be a fun one for sure! -

Gamble mode? Being down 6 puts you in gamble mode? Give credit where it's due. You don't hear anyone saying your lone TD drive was aided by some bs calls and a fluke catch do you? The fact is, Smithville played well for 2 quarters, and was outplayed in the other two. Go back and look at the posts between O Trap and I. Don't think blowout was ever thought of; plenty of respect was shown. Don't overshadow the efforts of your team with some lame comments. Don't think anyone really thinks the Chipps will be going to Columbus, or even beat Coldwater for that matter, but they will play Hillsdale for the WCAL title next week, and have a shot at 10-0. I bet most fans of their respective high school would be happy with that.scotmich;1664483 wrote:those last two td came in the 4th, when smithville was in gamble mode..... again u guys have a better team then smithville..... but one and done in the playoffs.... maybe if ur luckly u win the first one........ ur all shocked that we played u so well.... u all thought it was going to be another blow out... and for those that watched the game u know the truth......
Statically speaking:
Chippewa 413 yards
Smithville: 210 yards
Chippewa : 195 yards rushing
Smithville :175 yards rushing on 45 carries. 3.8 yard average
Chippewa 218 yards passing/ Smithville 35.
I can see where a Smithville fan could question the Chipps defense! WOW
If you watched the Norwayne game, or Waynedale then you had a valid point, but not based on last night. -
1_beastLOL....
Last week Stanley AND Strasbaugh rush for 200+ each,
I have an idea.................lets throw it downfield. -

no ...chipps suck. Bears should'v beat em... but hey...coaching winsHitsRus;1664467 wrote:??? They gave up 7 points. Is your team that bad? -
187xovrI know Waynedale is not a powerhouse by any stretch of the imagination, but this has to be considered Dalton's best win in the last several years. A tough, grind it out win against a team most people thought would beat them. The Dalton-Smithville game next week might actually look like a Dalton-Smithville game should look.

1486wdAgreed.

Buckz#1Adding former Waynedale defense coach to Daltons staff was a nice step in the right direction for Dalton. Having a coaching staff of family and "yes men" is never good for anyone.

The bears played great defense in only allowing Dalton 7 points in regulation.Buckz#1;1664510 wrote:Adding former Waynedale defense coach to Daltons staff was a nice step in the right direction for Dalton. Having a coaching staff of family and "yes men" is never good for anyone.
Compliments go to Wcalfan on his choice of offensive style. Their was definitely lots of misdirection going on in the backfield last night.
Nothing but respect for our players that gave it their all last night in a hard fought game.
We were out coached by Dalton & they got a well deserved win.
Hate to say I told ya so.............but I told ya so !wcalfan;1618725 wrote:5-5 huh? To me that would be a BIG disappointment. 7-3 or 8-2 are very realistic.

I've decided to no longer let your digs on our players/coaches bother me (you did it twice in your post). I just have to realize you are a very insecure person who likes to show weaknesses of others so your weaknesses get overshadowed. However, what most people like you don't understand is this...when you do that it actually magnifies your weaknesses. What a sad life....anyways.
You are actually wrong with your prediction...we will probably end up 4-6 (if we are lucky) which is a GIGANTIC disappointment and yes it starts at the top...which is the nature of the "business". I need to just take Aaron Rodgers advice and just R-E-L-A-X before I say anymore. -

This is probably the only time I will EVER agree with you but you are absolutely right. Ask Michael Jordan how that has worked out for him in the NBA as an owner. He has finally surrounded himself with people who don't always agree with him and it is starting to work for him.Buckz#1;1664510 wrote:Adding former Waynedale defense coach to Daltons staff was a nice step in the right direction for Dalton. Again...I just need to R-E-L-A-X...... -
Wcal observerJust curious what did Waynedale do offensively from a personel stand point ? Honest question, just wondering

I never thought I'd see the day there was a big match up between Hillsdale and Chippewa in any sport besides girls softball. Congrats to both teams. They've had great seasons.HitsRus;1664707 wrote:Hillsdale and Chippewa have, one by one, dispatched the contenders and the pretenders....the BIG matchup is this week. -

I'm leaning toward the Chipps coming out on top in this one.Old Rider;1665173 wrote:So true! Its good to see the teams that took years of pounding turn it around. Good for the entire league!
What say the rest of you ? -
O-TrapYeah, I'm guessing the Chips win by three scores. Hillsdale is a tough team, but ... "dat offense" ...

Who is the home team in this one? Regardless, the Chipps would be my pick. -
was_that_itBig game this week between the chipps n falcons. Should be a good game. Hillsdale needs to cut out the penalties on O or it will be a long night. Look forward to a good game. How's Chippewa's D-line n linebackers? Few weeks ago they gave up a ton rushing to norwayne. Any chipp fans have any insight?
