Wayne County Athletic League Football 2014

Most on-line forums have issues if you show criticism of the students. I am always amazed at the people that will sit and say "Why can't ____ catch that ball" "Why can't ____ make that tackle", when I can watch the same mistakes every Sunday from guys making big bucks. At the end of the day it is just a game played by kids. Yes it is frustrating to lose but losing is just as important in life as winning. If you can learn from losing than it was not a total loss.

“We had to put our guys in position to be successful, and that meant filling the box and putting those DBs out on that island,” Zuercher said. “Those guys have made a lot of plays for us some nights, unfortunately, tonight wasn’t one of them.

“We defended the run well, especially early in the game, and to give up the big pass like that was disappointing,” Zuercher added. “You watch most of them, we’re right there stride for stride, it’s just a matter of making a play on the ball.”

Alum (and anyone else) I am not trying to start #%@$ but PLEASE explain how the coach "throw the DB's under the bus"? How does he not have "their back"? Isn't this the truth? AGAIN...like I have ALWAYS said it comes down to players making plays. I know in my "real world" if I don't get the job done, my boss is going to let me know. He isn't going to rub my back and say "good effort, that's ok...you'll get em next time" and give me a token for a free ice cream cone. He said the DB's were right there and all they have to do is make the play, which is absolutely true for those of us at the game.

I see coaches in the paper say those types of things ALL THE TIME after a loss. Why does Z get singled out ALL THE TIME???? If saying things like this is considered by many as "throwing under the bus", then I hate to say it but....well, forget it...I get in trouble for speaking the truth....

Last night was a disappointing TEAM loss. There should be no finger pointing at one individual, fingers should be pointed at the TEAM.
Last night as a TEAM we did not get the job done!

Those are your quotes from post 359, me personally I would of went with that approach.

And if you are no a politician you missed your calling! as they say what sounds good at the moment an always trying to cover their #$@.

Here are some from Thut after the Hillsdale game.
"I'm really disappointed in our offense," Northwestern coach Mike Thut said. "(Hillsdale) dared us to run the ball and we still couldn't run it. I got on my line at halftime about getting more nasty up front. And as far as executing our passing game, the passes weren't as accurate as they've been and our receivers had a lot of drops tonight."
"You've gotta make plays; this is Ohio football and we know (the weather) is coming," Thut said. "When you've got a pass game, you have to make adjustments and you have to catch the football. We didn't do a good job of that tonight."

But you still feel that he threw the kids under the bus?

So Alum, is Thut throwing his kids under the bus? Seems like he is pretty much saying the same thing...kids have to make plays...

Listen I am not covering my #@% for anything. I apologized because maybe my tact isn't the most politically correct and I can do a better job of conveying my thoughts. However, I stand by each and every word I have said on here and if you REALLY look at when the dust settles on this forum...most of the time it comes down to a couple of things...which I am more or less SPOT ON. I just have a difficult time getting that point across in a peaceful manner and I can admit to that....plain and simple.

    Week 7:
    Dalton @ Chippewa
    Hillsdale @ Rittman
    Northwestern @ Waynedale
    Smithville @ Norwayne

Interesting games this week: Hillsdale gets a W, I like to think Bears jump on Huskies but the other two games are intriguing. I havent got Dalton figured out. Smithville/Norwhat is an interesting matchup also with Miller running wild and Dreher/Zollinger playing well.

I think there will be 4 blowouts, with Chipps, Bears, Falcons and Bobcats all winning big this week.

Okay waclfan, I will play with you sense no I else will. Your on the Orrville tread saying your current program has no football talent? Wow I know a lot of people that would beg to differ. If you are truly the voice of this program, this program is in worst shape then I thought.

Okay, rip me for telling you what you said!

Also the popcorn was great Friday at the game and the lady that severed me was very nice(just seeing if you will argue with me about that)
  • Alum01
Also you have a great lockerroom, restroom building that looks new, when was this built? within the last 6 years while your program is winning 1/4 of their games? Most programs will love to have the parents, booster, community build them something like this or waclfan did you do this all on your own? damn you are a great guy.

Alum, she was sorta of nice, not real nice, but average in terms of nice! Lol:) The popcorn needed more butter, and she was in position to add it, but just couldn't fully press down the pump.

agreed....butter pumps at most local venues have fallen into serious disrepair. If not addressed this could become a serious problem in the future. Bravo Sir!

    This weeks WCAL games...

The 4-2 Bulldogs now get their chance to upend 6-0 Chippewa. Will they do it?...probably not, but stranger things have happened and this is a strange year. This is the game of the week, IMO.

The battle of the 4-2 teams should be fun. I guess I'll go with Norwayne at home, but the Smithies have improved vastly from last year.

In the battle of 2-4 teams, I think Waynedale will roll to victory. Northwestern appears to be spiraling downward.

and finally, Hillsdale will travel to Rittman and take care of business.

As a fan, I'm obviously hoping Smithville up-ends Norwayne. It would bode well for the remainder of the season. I've been happy to see the improvements on the Smithville team this year, and I continue to see them play out, which makes me believe this isn't a fluke. I'm certainly a fan of Besancon, and seeing the year-over-year improvement makes me feel good about it. Still not sure when Smithville got a passing game, but I'll take it.

I think you've pegged the games well for this week. I think Waynedale is better than your average 2-4 team, so I can see them winning by a healthy few scores.

I still don't know what to do with this Dalton team. The only teams to whom they've lost have been 6-0 Garaway (#2 in the Region) and last week's close one to Norwayne. That's nothing to be ashamed of, to be sure. I'm a little surprised at how little scoring they did on Rittman, but that could have just been a bad night. I don't know what games they've played so far can adequately define them as a team. As such, I even agree with their bout with Chippewa being the game of the week. Hopefully it will tell us a little bit about who they are.

It may be in the works. Not by me. I've talked to Aaron Dorkson a few times about it.

May RRN and Wcalfan can pitch in.

Great investigative work! I guess I need to really watch with you around. I have never said we don't have talent THIS year but "soft" society and parents that suck....hmmmmmm...we've had our share.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, that no horses, no talent thing threw me off. Anyway I just wanted to pull you back to this tread, not may WACL boys can hang over, they will turn on you in a second! You will get bitch slapped and your boys will be hanging on the wall at Jerry's. They are the big leagues an play tackle, it's only flag on this thread. Again Sorry.

Can I ask one question without getting blasted by you? Are you really the voice of the program?

    LOL

Riddle me this Batman (Wcalfan): Over the past 3 or so years, How has "soft" parents and society produced 3 League Titles, 3 Sectional titles 3 District titles as well as a STATE TEAM title in wrestling? hmmmmmmm

I think a couple of 'em even play football too. (or did)

    Go Bears !

    Going for popcorn now.

From that rather melancholy lady at the concession stand. (Body like a melon, face like a collie), but she has great popcorn, even the Norwayne fans think our popcorn is the best !
