Still want Orrville then? If the Riders are in your conference you don't just get them when you're good and they're down. And how about the other sports? Orrville would mop up on baseball, volleyball and probably basketball (both boys and girls). The PAC I could see an argument for, but the WCAL is just too far down the ladder as regards competition. And I would challenge any team in the WCAL not named Norwayne (a once in a generation run of athletes) to win more than 2 games in the OCC. Sure it's not the Federal League, but Ashland, West Holmes, Mansfield Sr...you get my drift. Even Wooster with 3 wins had James Preston, Cam Daugherty, Grant Stokes and Darrien Owens last season. Those guys are on another playing field compared to WCAL talent. The WCAL should be content for what it is - a rural county league that will occasionally make some noise and once in a generation produce a D1 athlete. No shame in that.
End of discussion...from a non-Orrville guy to boot. Well said. -

Sorry, but as usual you're wrong....Did you teach history? or do you just rewrite it?BRF;1474174 wrote:Drknowitall: you came on here with the sole purpose of knocking Orrville. Plain and simple.
This little dust up started with RR1 and post #535..... "Talked to the OCC commish recently & he said the WCAL folks would never let us in. Guessing the Rittman's & Dalton's of the world wouldn't be too crazy about it.
Those greenies over in Smithville would probably wuss out too."
DrKno & Otrap came to defend and disagree, it escalated from there....plain & simple.
^^This is name calling, you have a history of turning in people for that....but I see that it's okay for you to do it.BRF;1474174 wrote:Then it wasn't long until O-"why don't you shut your"- Trap chimed in with his historic diatribes and wisdom.
I don't know why you would suggest that, Series62 has been verbally female dog smacking you guys (and keeping a cool head while he does it) for over a year now. It's like the Leonard-Duran "No mas" fight.BRF;1474174 wrote:You should pm series62 to help you two out with your arguments. -

I don't blame you,RedRider1;1474224 wrote:End of discussion...from a non-Orrville guy to boot. Well said.
and I'll list the reasons..
1. you went 1-9 last year
2. still haven't won on your own turf field
3. resorted to scheduling a patsy to get that win
4. have a low player turnout this year
and to make yourself feel better you start in on the WCAL.
I would want to end that discussion too, especially since you can always revisit the good ole' days. -
RedRider1Turn him in for it then.
Didn't know things got so "serious bizness" all of a sudden. Since when is this site the bastion of model behavior & respectable discussion? Especially when the county & Orrville guys get together.
The WCL thread is one dickish comment & inside joke after another....so lets not throw too many stones over here.
And the Smithille comment was in jest...sorry I didn't use the correct emoticon to express my playful comment. You can unbunch your panties now. -

I guess when it's a chance to knock the Red Riders, the sophomoric humor & bad jokes stop & the insightful debate begins.
Refreshing actually. -
Red RumI'm not turning anyone in for anything, busting up BRF is just so much fun. (especially since he hates me:laugh
I'm not mad either, we have had this argument (or some form of it) going years back to JJ. It's always the same.
I try not to troll you guys too bad, but after the season you just had, and your rippin' on the county schools.... I gotta defend the WCAL because I'm not a wimp like Beast & Miyagi.
best of luck to you guys this season, I'm headin' back under the bridge. -
BRFStay under the bridge, too.
Just for everybody's "history"..... I never turned anyone in for name calling. It was "bloodytoothbrush's" filthy comment about OQB's mother that prompted him (from my advice after he asked me what to do) to turn it in.....but turns out that YOU and MIYAGI happened to be posing as the fake bloodytoothbrush to Catfish and get a rise out of people on here.
And that's your history lesson for today.
Me and O-trap have a little understanding about some things that you actually don't know about.
For the Rider posters, I have some number figures by class that are interesting, but I hesitate to post them because of the outsider remarks that might follow. -

Orrville: 22 appearances, 29 wins, 9 final four appearances, 3 runner up, 1 title.
It would be neat to see everyone's playoff history. OHSAA has it, just need someone to put it all together. -

No problem! I think we can ALL agree about one thing....we play some pretty darn good football in Wayne County and have represented the area well over the years! I appologize for not including Triway and Wooster, but I guess the prior discussion didn't warrant including them. Plus, being a Red Rider....I dont care for either school. Old Rider, This is the best news I have heard about this years’ team to date. I am SO excited for these young men to get on the field and speak to their frustration with some physicality. I am sure they are as well! As far as the linemen are concerned, are they an athletic 220-230? If I am not mistaken we have kind of gone to a zone blocking scheme in recent years. Do we have the hogs to do some pulling, trapping for some of the running backs? From what everyone has witnessed and said this could be a good thing. The other question is that with numbers being what they are I can only assume most if not ALL of these guys are going to have to play both ways? How many guys do you “in the know” think will be in the O line rotation? That’s going to be a lot of plays on the field against some SERIOUS competition. I guess that will be a test of grit we won’t define until game day. Do we have a 7 on 7 that is home or a little closer coming up? Wouldn’t mind seeing how the receiver’s and QB’s are doing with timing and communication. One thing this group of seniors has going for them is that there are A LOT of doubters out there right now. Nobody is expecting us to be worth a hoot! If I am a senior, I take that as a direct slap in the face, get pissed off, and prove the doubters wrong. One thing we won't have on this team this year will be guys with egos who think they are better than the team. These kids are all friends and hang out together and we haven't had a class like that in several years.
With my RELEVANT post completed let me say this, The WCAL has had some REALLY good teams that I think could easily give the Ville a run. The problem with these arguments is when Orrville is down and many of the other local schools as well (no taking into account Norwayne), the argument is over who is the “best worst team” in the area? Much more fun when we debate this in years when we are all playing well. Times like now it just seems dirty and petty. Eventually EVERY public athletic program is going to go through some difficult times; no avoiding it (we at Orrville have just avoided it longer than most). I also thought we were all in a league years ago.... The AOL? Well, most of the WCAL teams anyways. That conference was a little before my time but I wonder what the records were back then for the teams in the conference and how many conference titles each school won? Everyone in Wayne County has this argument all the time during their morning coffee and breakfast. Always have and always will. We at Orrville should just be proud we are always in the argument. At least with the record we had last year we are still relevant to someone! -
Dr. KnOiTaLLFigured I'd finish up the area!

Old RiderSanitizer...The old AOL included Orrville, Fairless, West Holmes, Triway, Coventry, Manchester, and Northwest.

5knotsOrrville was the measuring stick in that league.... to the point that one year in particular I believe Orrville's Defense shut out the entire league. I also believe the league dissolved after that and Orrville was blackballed from joining similar size schools in a conference. I think the biggest sourpuss was Manchester who wanted no part of us in another league with them.
-
Old Rider
And that same sourpuss is still in charge over there in Panther country, thus Orrville will never get a vote from Mr. France! So...forget joining the PAC until he departs!5knots;1474717 wrote:Orrville was the measuring stick in that league.... to the point that one year in particular I believe Orrville's Defense shut out the entire league. BRFNow that the dust has settled from last night's onslaught, I will post the figures that I got from talking to a Junior on the team. Here is the current breakdown by class:
