He meant to write "them", referring to Norwayne. But....,he could not be more wrong. To even suggest the Cats kept starters in the game to score more is just....absurd. Norwayne has scored a total of @28 4th qtr. points.....,all yr. Coach Harbour & the Cats do not play that "run it up" game. They a r e ...,above that. They've had a target on their backs, and a spotlight on them all yr & they have conducted themselves like the defending State Champions. Only thing harder than winning State is to successfully defend it. How ignorant would it be to get a stud starter hurt in the 4th qtr of a blowout ? Stupid they are not. Wait...,maybe you're saying Liberty, & all the others defenses, just rose up in the 4th qtr and ....., shut down the Cats' offense. Talk about absurd.
As for Brookfield..., they can win, but if they turn it over..., they're dead. The Cats' defense can, and will, take it to the house in a snap. Those DBs are the wide-outs who can score from anywhere. I know how i would exploit their Def, if i were Brookfield. I'm really surprised no1 else has tried it, especially the teams w/a talented QB & a stud RB....., like the Warriors have. We'll see if they have the ...,vision to see it. If they run the same offense they've been so successful w/all yr....., i don't see them having their way w/the Cats' fast, battle tested defense. Hope it's a good 1. Best be in your seat early. Go Cats ! Like your run last yr., just......"REFUSE to lose." -

no, i was referring to what the announcers on myytv said during the game that was televised on tv because i never saw them play this year. they where saying how absurd it was keeping the starters in the 4th quarter and still throwing the ball deep into the 4th quarter and how that type of play ruins a coaches reputation regardless of the success you have. you can go watch it on myvalleysports.com its on the game of the week section.oldcatQB;1318816 wrote:He meant to write "them", referring to Norwayne. thePITmanWatching Norwayne's game vs Liberty online. Pretty cool. From what I've seen so far through 1 1/2 quarters, these announcers are a bit extreme. Haha. One of the announcers just asked if the other guy was surprised Norwayne was trying to score at the end of the 2nd quarter. I guess they need to find something to talk about. Haha.
-
thePITmanI'll tell you one thing - Brookfield will NOT fall apart like this Liberty team is doing.

Spread All DaySoooo randy Clark learned how to run the score up way back in 2005 vs conneaut because of the 2012 norwayne playoff game vs liberty?
Makes a whole bunch of sense. -

After watching the replay....,I agree. He turned a big win into....an embarrassing 12min of football that only reduces the players efforts. This is the playoffs. Norwayne has been pulling their starters all year. IMO They need to get a full game or two under their belts because they will need the stamina in the next three. If you can not keep up in the the second game of the playoffs too bad for you.Old Rider;1319878 wrote:Harbour runs the score up and that will come back to bite him in the @ss! -
AllOhioI'm a Rider fan but I'm gonna have to defend Harbour on this one. Typical example of how tough it is to be the head coach... if you keep pounding the opponent, outsiders complain (which I'm sure doesn't bother Harbour - and it shouldn't) and if you take it easy on the opponent your fanbase isn't happy. When you sign up to compete you gotta take the good with the bad...nothing is handed to you. OSU Buckeye fans are lovin' it that Urban is their coach...he too has a reputation of running up the score but seems to be well respected in the college football world. Hanging 50 or so on the opponent week in and week out isn't gonna hurt Coach Harbours future as a Head Coach that's for certain. Good luck 'Cats..represent Wayne County.

I didn't say it was a bad thing or that I disrespect Harbour for doing so...I just simply said that it will eventually catch up to him at some point. AllOhioI agree...he will be on the other end of the spectrum eventually. I honestly believe that will not happen while he as at Norwayne, however. I see Harbour coaching the Cats for another 4 years at the max. He has no roots there as far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong) and if he has the same success over the next 4 years it would only be fair to him and his career to move on to bigger things. You don't achieve the success he has at his age and not get bigger and better ($$$$) opportunities. That said...enjoy him while you have him Cat fans.

I'm not sure what more people want Coach Harbour to do. He only scored 13 points in the 2nd half against Liberty. What is wrong with that? I've never seen any coach, player, or fan think that a team should slow down before halftime. What decision(s) are people second-guessing? Norwayne's starters have barely played in the 2nd half all season. You can't fault him for wanting to get them a little extra conditioning in the 2nd half.
Brookfield did the same thing - just over 7 minutes to go in the 4th quarter, and their starters are in, they're passing, calling timeouts, and angrily arguing with refs.
Both coaches are getting their players ready for this week's big test. -
oldcatQB
The Georgia High School Association mercy rule states if a team is trailing by 30 points or more at halftime, the coach of the trailing team may choose to play the entire second half with a running clock.A running clock is implemented automatically if the margin remains over 30 points heading into the fourth quarter. I'm all for this. What do you teach your kids by continuing to pound on some1 that's already beaten. In a blowout, we all(x-cept 1)just wants it 2b over b4 injuries happen. Conditioning, or....stamina, can be addressed all week on the practice field. Not in the 4th qtr of a blowout. IMO, State Champions should conduct their business like champions. You are looked up to by young & old. Don't do anything to dull the shine on the trophy.oldcatQB;1319833 wrote:After watching the replay....,I agree. BobcatHarbour has done nothing wrong. If you think any differently then you obviously are not paying very close attention. If you have attended all of the games the last 2 years then you would know that he does not run scores up. People that don't know what is going on look at Norwayne's scores and automatically think he's running it up. Most of that damage is done in the first 2 quarters of the games they play. That was the case this past Friday. I'm not sure who oldcatQB is but I bet he's a bandwagon jumper. I dont recall seeing many posts on here until just recently. Form opnions by going to games and supporting your school not by listening to BS that other people (mostly from other schools) make up to make themselves feel better. It's playoff time and players need to play. This , thankfully , will not be a topic from here on out if we make it past Brookfield. Good luck Cats

I disagree with you and the announcers of the replay. You defended them until this replay? They had kids in this game earlier than most games all year. They ran the ball and threw screens. The offense was not aggressive at all. Norwayne doesn't have the depth to get every starter out of the game - especially playing against another playoff team's starters. Look at the scores by quarter all year - including this game... -
oh yeah!!so just a thought but why should the players that put work in all off season be punished??? what i mean is they work jsut as hard to play 4 quarters but yet we are all on hear saying they should be pulled. there is always two sides to every story and people were say what they want but the scores don't lie in the second half! some other schools in the state are putting up bigger numbers than these two schools are

There is still years of emotion barreled up in most Norwayne fans, even after a state title. Teams have been ABLE to run the score on Norwayne for decades, and did. It's just Norwayne turn now these past years.
