Wooster cleans house...

Wow! 8 guys returning from a defense that allowed Jack Snowball to run for 275 yds. and 4 touchdowns in the second half! 8 guys returning from a defense that let Ashland accumulate 325 yds. of offense and 4 touchdowns in 9 plays in the second quarter. Thats scary!:rolleyes:WooGenerals;1065847 wrote:Wooster is returning 8 starters on defense.... No team will be able to run or pass on them enough said -

They're also trying to add a better D-I or II, but you can't just jump in playing all D-I playoff teams in non-conf w/ where they're at. I like the pick for Haas and he has shown the ability to really turn around programs that were way under .500 right before he took over. Not sure he's ever really had great talent to work with, but Wooster could provide him with the best players he's had yet. Any of the five finalists would have been good, but I can see why they went with him. Obviously none of us were in interview room w/ the others, but i was surprised someone else didn't get another interview, especially Durbin or Seder.
When we refer to "area schools" in The Daily Record we're talking about the 18 schools (15 w/ football) in our coverage area, so I wasn't including those you mentioned. I agree those schools would be more coveted to coach at.
Aaron- I was refering to the schedule! Medina,Wadsworth Strongsville and Brunswick would be good non conf games. -

And a defense that gave up 42 to Lexington and 38 to Senior. -

It may be more accurate to say the (ex) defensive coordinator gave up most of those points.RedRider1;1066042 wrote:This.

Old RiderWOW!! A new coach and all of a sudden Wooster Football is now the best in the OCC, has the best defense in years and the kids are coming out of the woodwork to play??? LOL
...its still Wooster Football -

Wooster kids haven't helped out Orrville that much?!? Tell that to the 2010-11 Triway team. Triway would have won that playoff game had it not been for the two 80+ yard touchdowns by Stewart Turner. If Orrville didn't have him...Triway wins.wc expert;1065071 wrote:not sure wooster kids helped Orrville all that much. i think instead of focusing on Orrville, Wooster should be worried about getting their own house in order. do have to laugh at orrville posters here tho, they are always behind their program, win or tie! -

This was posted only 24 hours after the announcement was made at the school board meeting. Haas had only met with his players at Cloverleaf Tuesday morning to tell them his decision. I am pretty sure he told the media he would be meeting with the Wooster players and parents next week. So I'm not sure how anything in the above quote could be accurate.WooGenerals;1065746 wrote:The word around Wooster High School is that Haas made a great first impression on the players. The players like him and are ready for the change to a discipline coach. More players then ever have already started showing up to the workouts. More players then orrville gets out for a team.... -
scarface1most of the kids in the weight room are there with some of the coaches and parents from before. and the kids have not formally met the new coach yet he just stuck his head in the weight room yesterday. So there are kids who have been there everyday but it is only about 6 or 7 kids and they are either sophomores to be or juniors to be. only two or three seniors have been in the majority of the time.(everyone is right lots of talent in classes coming up but really bad attitudes to go with it hope the new coach can reign them in or it could get worse before it gets better).

This is what you get when you have students posting here...a bunch of half-truths and over-exaggerations.jph1589;1066339 wrote:This was posted only 24 hours after the announcement was made at the school board meeting. but they dont have the lineman they had back then seems we all forget about the size up front on those teamsWooGenerals;1065767 wrote:Wooster knows what bad coaching is... It can only go up for the kids. Plus Wooster has many names that are being thrown around in recruiting with MAC and Big East schools. They will have some of the best talent since the 03 and 04 generals if not better and more athletic -

WooGeneralsI am a WHS grad class of 2002 by the way. But with bill out as the D cord and done with his stupid calls the players will be allowed to actually play defense and attack and not watch for a pass or try to out smart the offense. Plus the OCC will be down with orrville losing their players and same with ashland, lex. This is the year wooster has all of their players

Old Rider
So what you are saying is that for Wooster to fair well in the OCC you need Orrville, Lex, and Ashland to have graduated alot and have down years??? So thats why McCreary couldn't win. It wasn't his coaching...it was just a matter of the other teams being too good! LOLWooGenerals;1066732 wrote:I am a WHS grad class of 2002 by the way. CCRollyEight guys back on defense does nothing for me if they don't learn to tackle better. I've never seen so many "ole's" in one season of defensive football. Wooster's biggest losses will be Devonta Anderson at RB and Daugherty at QB (althought he certainly declined some as this past season went on). Here's hoping the two freshman are ready to step into those positions and have 3 huge years. Will be intersted to see who the rest of the coaching staff is and what their philosophies are.

Jake GreyJust a few random observations on the previous posts:
1. If the Woo job is so coveted, why did only the usual suspects (with one possible exception) even apply? Answer: Because it is not coveted. Among coaches it is well known that Wooster is a death valley of know-it-all parents and administrators and maybe (only maybe) a local will survive or put up with it.
2. Woo beat Orrville? Maybe, because apparently Orrville is going to be down next year and Wooster up. Because of Haas? Well, apparently he had 3 chances to do so already and is still trying to figure out how to get the job done.
3. Stu Turner winning games for Orrville? LOL. I didn't see every one that he played in but from what I hear there was at least 3 wins that he should get credit for over his career and at least 5 losses that could be chocked up to his lousy pass defense.

gowooI have to laugh at all the people who refer to Wooster as a program with know-it-all parents and administrators. They are clearly people who know nothing about the program or the community. This is high school football. Name me a program that does not have some of that going on. There will always be someone in the community, parent or other, who thinks they know what is best for the team. I recall reading posts during the season from an Orrville fan complaining that the best players are not always on the field but only the ones who are "favored". Now I know better than that and I know that coach Devault would put his best players on the field. The point is, you cannot believe everything your read on these types of forums.

Exactly....every fan base has moron fans that make accusations to support their agenda.gowoo;1067451 wrote:I have to laugh at all the people who refer to Wooster as a program with know-it-all parents and administrators. It does go on everywhere. It's the programs that let those influences get a foot in the door that see it affect their program. -

Wouldn't go so far as that. Seemed when he had good games, Orrville won...and when he wasn't playing his best, we struggled. Could say the same for Monheim & Brenner too.Jake Grey;1066952 wrote:3.
