According to what you said, it will be because nobody with talent went out for football, not that he doesn't have what it takes? I don't buy that at all. We can just agree to disagree. If this was the choice, it was a bad one.
Exactly, except you missed my point completely. My point was I believe he has more talent here, will tend to stay at a program like Wooster, and build it into more than a perpetual 4-6 team.

I knew Wooster would find a way to screw it up!
I certainly agree with you on this one, Old Rider!

Yeah ok....I got it exactly, but I missed your point completely. You can't really have it both ways. But I am sure you would like to.

This all reminds me of how I feel when the Browns hire a new coach. I always justifiably find many reasons they have made the wrong decision and some salesman type on the radio insists on telling me how it will be so WONDERFUL!!

You never know though, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.

    It's official.. It's haas
  • jph1589
Oh well....the board announced Haas is the coach tonight. So much for hoping it was bad info.
  • WooGenerals
Haas is a good choice for the generals. Plus they have a strong junior class returning for their senior year a few possible D1 prospects
  • WooGenerals
rumor is haas will be announced at the wooster orrville backetball game. orrvills little seven year run is about to be over!
  • thedemoralizer7
Haas beats orrville one year and then packs up and heads for Massillon or some federal league school..

Let's remember these kids have grown up in a loser program with a loser attitude. It may take Haas a more than one season to turn that around.

I am ready for a new direction with the program.

Get some kids in the weight room, get them to buy into the new coach.

Hass should fit just fine. I think he was the only applicant with a losing record.

So his losing record at other programs is an indication that he will have a losing record at Wooster?

Don't mind Jake. he just likes being an ass hole.

    His logic is completely off.

Haas is a horrible choice!!!! Are you kidding me?

Serious...Woo people cannot realistically be happy with that!!!!

    I would be pissed!

According to the paper he's 44-48 overall....that's almost 100 games and he's below .500. That's a pretty big sampling to show what kind of coach he is. I hope this works out, but as one poster said earlier, this feels a lot like a Browns hiring.

Should Woo expect 3 years and out for Haas?
  • CCRolly
I think the results you all see out of Haas are going to be way better than most of you are expecting. Oh, and Doug DeVault may turn into Lloyd Carr real fast. Get ready Orrville...the days of lackadaisical play calling and going through the motions are over in the Wooster program. No more Wooster kids coming over to help you get playoff wins anymore either.

With all due respect, there is just no way that anyone can know or predict that.

I am sure Cloverleaf was hoping for that 3 years ago but they didnt get it. So all we can really do is just wait and see.

not sure wooster kids helped Orrville all that much. i think instead of focusing on Orrville, Wooster should be worried about getting their own house in order. do have to laugh at orrville posters here tho, they are always behind their program, win or tie!

Speaking of which, how is that petition going over in the Village of Smithville?

Back to Haas. He reminds me of Billy Martin. Show up, burn out a program and wear out your welcome while maybe winning a championship along the way. Let's be frank. He's coaching in Wooster for heavens sake. The land of college professors, businessmen, lawyers and other nuclear no-zoners. It's not blue collar like Norwayne, Smithville and Orrville and Haas will grow weary of the parental and administrator politics quick and they of him.

Wooster is the Death Valley of coaches and Haas will be gone within 5 years. Just one azzhole's opinion.

and i read where Dougs wife is from wooster, so he may not be going anywhere if his house is run like most. :)

you described yourself well Jake. Haas has never worn out his welcome anywhere, hes just moved on for better opportunities.
and jake, youre way offbase on Wooster, where half or more of the kids are on free or reduced lunches. like most people, you cite politics but have nothing to back that up. wooster's the death valley of coaches? hmmm mccreary seemed to last quite a while.
  • CCRolly
Haters will be haters. Haas will get the entire program on the same page and moving in the same direction. No one is predicting an OCC Championship in the first year, but we'll definitely be headed in the right direction and the improvement and discipline will be evident. Go Woo!
