2012 Wayne County Athletic League Football

Not sure what your talking about because I was standing right there as the smithies exited the field and nothing was being said or done at that time. Unlike last year when smithie adults were yelling and cursing at the boys as they exited their field.

The one thing that was disappointing was the embarrassment I felt when exiting the stadium. Coach Harbour has established a great football program, but the boys taunting and mocking the other team as they leave the field is inexcusable and classless. I was ashamed as I walked out amongst Norwayne and Smithville fans alike. A great product has certainly been formed on the football field, but these boys should also take pride in the way the handle their success, with grace and with class. Mixed emotions from what I saw last night... :(

I remember that well, catfan. It was sad and distasteful. Regardless of whether or not you saw anything, however, what I saw was disappointing.

well Dr. Knoitall... sorry to hear that. Normally our boys conduct don't conduct themselves that way, can only guess it would be the rivalry thing.

I have one big complain Smithville did not come out before the game for the National Anthem.

It's possible they were not aware that it was going on.

Coming out onto the field before the national anthem is garbage. We never did it in high school or college except for two occasions. The game after 9\11 with norwayne where both sides held hands and the playoffs. Sorry I hated it. I felt it killed my buzz and pre game rhythm. Call me a socialist but I could do without it every game

Apparently you didn't watch them play against Dalton.

How did Rittman score 26 points against Hillsdale?
    I wondered that as well.
I had hoped Smithville would put up more score on the Bobcats, but at the same time it gave me a little hope for our own meeting with them coming up.

The latter statement is true, but taking every chance possible to observe the National Anthem, even when you are not in the immediate presence of it going on, is not necessary to be a patriot, I don't think. You can be a patriot without seeking out the observation of the National Anthem, so I don't think there is a right/wrong position on whether or not the football team decides to come out for the sole purpose of observing the Star-Spangled Banner.

they ripped up a paper that had last years score on it....big deal!!!!! Go back to the hole you crawled out of. Was it "taunting and mocking" that Smithville put last years score on their fund raiser?? Dont tell me that Smithville has never acted that way and is the "Saint" of the WCAL.

Um ... he did say ... on this page ... that several Smithville fans showed poor sportsmanship last year after the game, yelling at the players. Many of us from Smithville said the same when it happened. It was classless of the Smithie fans to act that way after the game last year.

I don't know what all happened after the game, but Dr. K is hardly the kind of homer that puts on emerald-shaded glasses. Feel free to use this thread to educate yourself on that if you'd like. He doesn't tend to make a big deal of things, so if he mentioned it, I'm inclined to believe he's not just blowing something out of proportion. Hardly requiring that he "crawled out of a hole."

Your reply here demonstrates a level of hostility that was completely unprovoked. Settle down, big guy. Try not to overreact so much.

big deal....that doesn't make them anti-american, unpatriotic or whatever term you are planning to use.
maybe they were brainstorming ideas to make your website tolerable.

You clearly have the top prize on "Stupid Post of the Year"^^^^^right here.

thanks, because I think I have the other 2.

agreed....patriotism can't be measured by showing up to listen to a song. Many patriots place no value in any anthem and many non patriots hide behind anthems and flags. Ask the German people of the Nazi era, or the Russians of the Soviet era.....or the Japanese Americans in the 1940s.

Norwayne walked on to the field and ran across the gold line turned toward the flag pole put their helmet at their feet, hand over heart, stood tall and proud while the flag was raised. On the other end of the field Smithville was missing.

And? He who says observes the National Anthem the most wins? Does the Pledge of Allegiance get taken into account? What about whoever has the most patriotic bumper stickers on their car or flags on their home and in their yard?

You're reaching WAY too far to find fault that isn't there. I don't care if it's Dalton, CVCA, or friggin' Kenton. Not taking time to come out for the Pledge doesn't make one school less patriotic than another.

I was at a basketball game a couple seasons ago when the national Anthem recording would not play. One student in student section started singing and slowly all the student section joined in to sing the National Athem. A proud moment at Norwayne.

That's nice. Good for them. Not sure what point you're trying to make.

A sweet moment doesn't make a moral or patriotic obligation.

Ther are a lot of area teams that are not out for the national anthem this is no big deal. Worse are the kids in the stands that dont pay attention while it is being played maybe you should worry about that instead of players who have other things to worry about for the night.

Looks like Smithvilles offense and defense was missing as well. Better turn your attention to week 9 and then how your gunna beat the Huskies on week 10. Can't wait till week 10, we shall see if Jon Z can have 275 on us.....not gunna happen.

It's true. I'll never understand how people think anecdotes validate fact claims. Perhaps I'm over your head, though. ;)
