Week 9: Newton Falls (2-6) at Campbell Memorial (6-2)

  • BigDean1
Newton Falls comes to Campbell in week 9 looking for an upset. Campbell Memorial gets at least a share of the AAC title with a victory. The Red Devils are coming off an emotional win in week 8 vs. Girard. Campbell cannot have a letdown vs. Falls. Newton Falls has beaten LaBrae and Champion and may be better than their record indicates. They have a good quarterback and would like to do nothing more than spoil things for Campbell. The Red Devils need to stay focused and come out ready to play vs. Newton Falls. The Red Devils are in decent shape for a playoff berth after the win over Girard. But the Red Devils need to finish the season strong starting with a win vs. Falls on Friday.

This an interesting game for Campbell, win and you seniors become the first team to win back to back conference championships since the 90 & 91 MVC championship teams.

Don't know what to think about Falls. Their record is deceiving. I believe that this will be a good game. Falls vs Campbell rivalry in basketball over the past few years is pretty intense, so I think that this game to add to each schools dislike for each other.

Campbell cant look at Newton Falls as a win. As it has been said Newton Falls has beat the better teams and lost to lesser teams. It just seems that they are starting to come in to there own as of late. Its a scary game cause we dont know what Team will show up for eather. Campbell has shown they can be the team everyone has talked about. and they have shown they can a be a team that just cant get there act together.

I was extreamly pleased by the seniors last night. they got behind there team and became leaders and that's what has been missing this whole season. If the seniors keep this up Campbell can be a deadly team going into the playoffs. They proved it last night they can strike quickly against anyone. they did this at the beginning of the season also. I want this team to stay up for each game. Win this week first and move on. stay the course and i promise you this team can do damage in the playoffs this year. And for the love of football stop fumbling the damn ball. Last nights game should have been over in the 3rd qt. We allowed Girard to stay in the game. Girard could not stop us. And even though the points dont show it the defence played one hell of a game last night. Girard should thank Campbell's offence for at least 3 of there tds. Cause the Defence kicked ass....

The fans needs to help keep the train rolling. Cant help to think that we helped Campbell stay pumped through the whole game. It got loud more then usual. If they come out like last week it could be a looooong night for newtons falls offence. but if they come out cocky then then it will be the other way around. Newton Falls is a better team then they are credited for.

Mosora ran for 350+ against Falls so i dont see Hughes putting up anything less then 250 with a couple scores.... Falls can throw the ball and can score but i think if campbell has a good offensive gameplan and open it up a little more they secure a spot in the playoffs with this win.

Ohio Campbell just jumped from 8th to 4th last night. if the season was to end Campbell would be hosting next week. And Girard took a bump not a hit in the computer rankings. they are still comfortably in 1st. but Campbell is in 4th by a string. and campbell can still win out and not get a home playoff game. its going to be a interesting 2 weeks.

I dont want to look past Newton Falls. They beat a sound Labrea team that just nic Campbell for a win. By all means we should toy with Newton falls as a tune up for Struthers. But this game scares me cause Campbell is riding a high and we all know that can get to a teams head and that has hurt Campbell big in two L's But i think the coaches did a hell of a job with Damage control before it was to late. I just hope campbell keeps there heads..

I'll go with Campbell 26-13 in this one.

Play like we did against Girard minus at least three of the five or so mistakes....we win. Absolutely have to be looking at Falls as a threat to come into your town and take from you what you have earned. It's simple, Friday night another team is coming to try and take whats yours. Defend Knapick gentlemen, its your job.

Trivia is always fun. But I want to talk about the upcoming game on Friday. Against Girard, Campbell turned the ball over 5 times which really kept the Indians in the game. There was nearly a sixth turnover late in the fourth quarter when Hughes fumbled inside our 15 yard line that might have changed the outcome of the game altogether if we did not recover it. Campbell has to take better care of the ball. There were also two sure interceptions that were dropped by our defensive backs, poor decisions on punt and kickoff returns which led to a couple of turnovers, and too many penalties.

Newton Falls is playing better as of late. And they did beat LaBrae two weeks ago. So Campbell does not need a letdown against an improving team. They have a solid QB and a couple of good receivers. Campbell will be bigger up front and has the edge in team speed. Clean up the mistakes and Campbell could win this game easily. And let's make it clear that Campbell has not clinched a playoff berth and has not clinched a first round home game in the playoffs. In fact, Campbell could very well finish the season 8-2 and be on the road in week 11......SHOULD WE GET TO PLAY IN WEEK 11. Nothing is etched in stone. Stay focused and finish the job. Beat Newton Falls.
  • Struthers Fan
I see NO letdown. Playing at home with the playoffs on the line, they will roll in this one. Good luck to the Devils.
  • omemorialhigh
word is falls is talking alot of smack...which doesnt surprise me. hope the devils are ready.
  • oldschoolreddev
I hope that we don't have a letdown. But like bigdean said we have to clean up a ton of mistakes. Too many penalties and too many turnovers will catch up to you. Falls will come ready to play because they don't have anything to lose so we have to stay poised and under control to come out on top. I hope that we have some good weather Friday.

Falls is known for the trash talk.... got into a scuffle with their entire team in the past on the hoops court!! haha
  • oldschoolreddev
Got into a heated argument with some of their fans at a bball game a few years back. They won't back down. It should be an intense game.
