Week 8: Campbell Memorial (5-2) at Girard (7-0)
-
BigDean1Campbell plays at Girard on Friday night in a huge game for the Red Devils. Girard has a three-headed monster on offense in Graziano, Byrd, and Eggleston. The Indians are averaging nearly 50 points per game and they have not been in a close game this season. Both teams have great athletes, good size, and speed. But the Campbell defense is going to need to step up in a big way for the Red Devils to come out on top in this game. A win for Campbell puts them in good position for the post season berth. A loss and they will need to win out and get some help. Your thoughts on this game?

soup city99Should be a good one... Go devils

BigDean1Campbell will more than likely move up to #8 in region 17 when the official rankings come out early this week. This adds to the importance of the Girard game. Campbell must come out with intensity and play good football for 4 quarters vs. Girard. If they come out flat and make mistakes early giving Girard a lead, it could be a long night. It's time to step up.

omemorialhighProblems for Campbell: 1. Zero intensity 2. Zetts' play calling (why dont we pass the ball more, very predictable) 3. Strength...I dont know if anyone else has noticed, but we dont seem very strong and a lack of a good lifting program is starting to hurt us. Were bigger than all these teams and for some reason we dont look very strong at all.

I agree with you on the lack of intensity and the play calling. I guarantee that Girard wants to kick our a**es. They are going to come out fired up. If Campbell doesn't, and I would be surprised if they do because I have not seen it yet this season, and we fall behind early, it could be a very long night. The coaches will tell the kids how much this game means. Winning it could put Campbell great position for the postseason, and maybe a chance of having a first round home game should certain things happen. Losing it could spell doom to the season. If we don't get more creative with our offense vs. Girard we could get our clocks cleaned. As far as a good lifting program being in place, there is one. The problem is participation.......... not enough of the kids show up. Senior leadership is lacking on the field. And it was lacking during the offseason lifting program. Your seniors are supposed to lead. They are supposed to show up. There are kids on the team, many seniors included, who have the impression that they don't need to lift because they are already strong enough. And they can't be convinced otherwise. I call that being lazy. I am not sure how much more the coaches can do.omemorialhigh;927666 wrote:Problems for Campbell: 1. Zero intensity 2. cmhs_prideYou know what guys.....We should want to beat the living you know what out of this team. I am tired of hearing what they want to do to us. If they said that to me I would tell them straight up....BRING WHATEVER THE HELL YOU THINK YOU HAVE CHUMP.
But thats me. I cant stand that town, i dont like their coach, and its no secret....he does not like us. Lets not sugar coat it. The guy and his family have always been driven to beat us and they make it known. I was a senior the year the stands pretty much cleared in a very unfortunate fight. These towns do not care for each other. I have met some good people from Girard Ohio. I have trained some outstanding kids. And when this week is over, maybe I will say hi to them again. -
cmhs_prideI guess that is the difference between me and this team. Problem is I am 41. I can't help them.
I cannot for the life of me understand the lack of intensity at this point of the season. It is irritating to watch. -
BigDean1
They come onto the field as if they are there to have their wisdom teeth taken out instead of getting ready to play football. The best thing that can happen is we get up on Girard early and stop them on defense in no particular order. Girard is the real deal. We better be well prepared.cmhs_pride;928202 wrote:I guess that is the difference between me and this team. Problem is I am 41. I can't help them.

sonnyblackEVERYONE is picking Girard to whip Campbell by at least 3 td's from what i've been reading/hearing.
-

That should provide some incentive to our kids that Girard is expecting to blow Campbell off the field. But will it? This is a huge game for Campbell and will get them some bigtime computer points if they can pull the upset.sonnyblack;928323 wrote:EVERYONE is picking Girard to whip Campbell by at least 3 td's from what i've been reading/hearing. -

I wish we could bottle your passion and give it to these kids.
Seemed to me like they showed a bit more fire against Champion but its still nowhere near what we wanna see from them.
BTW how about that hit from Michael Smith on that kickoff? Ive been waiting for.one of those all year. -
RIP.Soroka.89
As they should. They've blown out everyone and we lost the only 2 real tests weve had.sonnyblack;928323 wrote:EVERYONE is picking Girard to whip Campbell by at least 3 td's from what i've been reading/hearing.
I hope the kids do see this and it lights a fire under their a$$es. -
BigDean1Watching the Champion game, I was also impressed with #14, Adrian Brown. That kid is going to be a really good player.

oldschoolreddevThe keys to this game are:1. No dumb penalties2. No turnovers3. Contain Graziano, let's face it he is gonna make some plays, we need to make sure that he doesn't go wild.4. Stop the run first. The RB they have is tough and hard nosed need not forget about him5. Be physical. Need a couple of big hits like the one on the kickoff last week.6. Don't be afraid to make a mistake. Play hard until the last whistle.7. Play with Passion and intensity. This is your last best shot to get back into the title race and a playoff spot. 8. Execute your gameplan. The coaching staff feels like they have a few areas that they can exploit.9. Never give up. If you are down, keep fighting. Make a play, forget about the last one.10. Play like a Campbell Memorial Red Devil.Good luck!

soupcitysoldiermost confident ive seen coach in a couple years...very surprised. maybe they see something they like.

cmhs_prideHere is something Girard likes to do alot. Line up three wide on one side and then throw back on a quick screen to the short side. If number 1 or 3 get to the corner they are trouble times 20.
Girard is not big. They have a MLB who is very small but wait until you see him hit.
Graziano is also not a big kid.... But he refuses to go down. We have to try and force this kid to throw. He is more dangerous when he takes off.
You know if nothing else I hope we utilize all of our talent on that field Friday night. We have five guys and a QB that can get them the ball quickly. Please for the love of God don't be one dimensional this week. We can beat this team!!!!!! I am tired of hearing at work from my Hubbard buddies and my buddy from Girard about how much trouble we are in. Screw that. Respect them, respect their ability, and then smack them in their mouth. Who in the hell are they? -
cmhs_prideYes I work midnight. That's why I'm up. Not because I can't sleep through Girard week.
Just to make it clear, I do believe you have to respect the drive and dedication to success that Girard has. However you don't fear that. You fear God. You fear your parents. You fear your coaches out of respect. You simply respect Girard football. Then you demand the same from them. And if they won't give it... Then you better damn well take it. -
OhioCampbell keeps is close but not close enough in my eyes Indians win 35-20

I still say that Campbell will try to establish its running game and work the clock. That does not mean that Campbell will not put the ball in the air. But they will try to establish the running game first and foremost. Girard has not yet been tested this season. Campbell has been tested twice and came out on the wrong end of the score in those two games. I hope that changes this week. I am really looking forward to this game.cmhs_pride;929730 wrote:Here is something Girard likes to do alot. Line up three wide on one side and then throw back on a quick screen to the short side. Spread All DayBased off the numbers, Girard beats Campbell by 21+. But maybe the kids take that as an insult and step it up. Probably not though, 42-21
-
cmhs_prideBigdean, it may not be Hubbards best team, but Girard smacked a much bigger team all over the field. So I think they have had somewhat of a test. Have they played Labrae yet?

Hubbard is a better team then Brookfield and Labrae......BigDean1;929985 wrote:I still say that Campbell will try to establish its running game and work the clock. I should have clarified. I meant that Girard has yet to play in a close game. Yes I suppose one could consider Hubbard a test considering they usually have a solid team and are in the AAC - white tier. But so is Liberty. And Campbell buried Liberty. I also was told Hubbard is slow. I did watch the Hubbard-Girard game on tv and I would say Campbell could beat Hubbard this season. And the weather forecast for Friday night is not looking very good. Girard plays LaBrae next week.cmhs_pride;930368 wrote:Bigdean, it may not be Hubbards best team, but Girard smacked a much bigger team all over the field. So I think they have had somewhat of a test.
