Time for the McCreary's to step aside at Wooster
-
CCRolly
Alright guys, I wouldn't allow myself to comment on this last night on here, because I knew it wouldn't be pretty. First and foremost, I want to congratulate Ashland on playing one heck of a game and really taking it to us. The following comments have nothing to do with your utter dominance of us last night. So congratulations to the Arrows and good luck the rest of the way. With that said, I really don't know if I can take watching the McCreary's run this program into the ground year-after-year, especially when the talent is there. These guys accept mediocrity and have not changed their coaching philosophies one bit over the time they've been there. I also am not aiming this at the Wooster kids....the talent is there, the work is there, they are just not put in the right position to when with this coaching staff.
There were a few Ashland fans sitting around us on the Wooster side last night, and our section had a great chat with them. They were saying exactly the same thing, that we were running the same defense against us that we have for the past 6-7 years! Bill McCreary is an absolutely horrible defensive coordinator, I wouldn't let this guy coach my son's elementary flag football teams defense. The offensive playcalling is lackluster at best, hell most of us in the stands know what plays coming 90% of the time, and if we can tell you know that the opposing team's coaches sure as hell do. We run the same pass plays, to relatively the same kid 90% of the time. It's either a streak, an out, or very rarely a slant. Problem is, you throw to the same kid all game! The fake onside kick before every kickoff is about as retarded as you get, I watched in absolute amazement in Wadsworth as we were doing this and went offside 2-3 times....what in Sam Hell is that?
In today's Daily Record, Mike McCreary is quoted as saying, "Why is our defense struggling? That's a tough question." No it's NOT. Maybe you need a community forum to let you know that your brother's defensive schemes are pathetic on a good night. We win because of our talent and in spite of your coaching philosophies. We made the playoffs two years in a row because Gantz, Hunter, etc's talent willed us there. Not because you are the 2nd coming of Vince Lombardi, or hell, even Coach MacFarland.
The chatter is there in the crowd on the Wooster side. People have seen enough of the same ridiculous game plans and approaches to the same teams and games. When is Wooster going to get wise and bring someone in here that can utilize the talent we have and that is coming up...and looks like they give a damn on the sideline? Another quote in the Daily Record today, "They moved Jones around a bunch, and they didn't do that at all the first three games. They kinda changed some things up that they've done for a long time." Oh my god...are you serious? You mean Ashland has actually adapted to the skill they have this year and made adjustments? That does have to be puzzling considering this regime does none of that.
I can't handle putting up with the McCreary's crappy philosophies and approaches to games anymore. I feel for the kids...I really do. They are the ones that suffer the most because of the ineptness of these guys. They're the ones that know they aren't being put in the right position or have the right strategies to be put in the best position to win games. I'm to the point (and I know I overheard others in the crowd last night saying the same thing) where I don't want to even waste my time or gas traveling to away games anymore. I sure as hell don't go to support the McCreary's, its for the kids and always has been, but this is now past the point of embarassment and ridiculousness. The time has come for Wooster to remove the McCreary's from the sideline. Go get somebody...anybody, that will right the ship and teach and show these kids what it takes to be a winner. Not what it takes to go 6-4 every year and be happy about it.
-

Mr. 300Never, ever, under any circumstances, should Wooster let him go. He is the best possible coach Wooster can have, period.
-
CCRolly300, you and others only want him to stay because his cluelessness gives you and others a solid chance to win most every year. It's almost getting to the point where it got for you guys with Coach Dennis.

Mr. 300
I feel for you brotha. Dennis might be gone after this year at Rittman, so there's your next coach!.CCRolly;901310 wrote:300, you and others only want him to stay because his cluelessness gives you and others a solid chance to win most every year. Old RiderBill McMillan???

RiderwannabeDont get rid of Mccreary,we Love him in ORRVILLE RED RIDER LAND.

THE4RINGZAnother solid thread by my main man CCRolly. Thank you, and reps to you.

Wooster All-SportIf they lose a seven straight to Orrville it will finally prompt the admins (although there all new, so who knows) to make a change IMO. Mike seems like a nice guy but its not wokring for a school that big to not do better with their schedule. If these guys were still in Federal League theyd be winning about one game a year in that league plus their cupcake non leagers.
-
OQBHow does the revolving door at the administration level continue, yet the same coaches on the sidelines year in and year out....If your not winning, move on.
-
CCRollyOQB, great question! The chatter is getting louder over here, even saw a few comments on The Daily Record's website. There is no better time for this than the present...
-
THE4RINGZThe new AD at Wooster will be forever judged by his decision on this situation. I do believe the old AD continued to look the other direction here.
Time to throw the baby out with the bath water. -

And yet you continue to be the sole voice of Wooster football on OhioChatter. Amazing really. Is the fanbase that apathetic? I know it's easy to say yes...but really? Does no one care over there?CCRolly;902907 wrote:OQB, great question! The chatter is getting louder over here, even saw a few comments on The Daily Record's website. barbarianI'm a Wooster transplant, and I can't take going to Wooster games anymore. Sorry but I stopped a couple years ago. You sit in the stands and everybody around you is talking about about who's doing what, or why do they have to tear down some defunct department store building... its so distracting for somebody who actually wants to watch the football game; then when there's a TD they turn around to the game and politely clap before resuming their conversation. You go to an Orrville game and everybody is intense and focused completely on the game and yelling. You can tell they have passion whereas Wooster has none. I just don't think Wooster is a football town. They're a speech and debate and a marching band town. I never witnessed anybody leaving a football game after the band played until I moved to Wooster. From where I come from you'd get lauged at for doing that.

OQBNice post barbarian!
Ringz, their new AD is on a 1 year contract.....I would have to imagine this is the biggest decision in that one year. -
me_myself_iWho is new AD at Wooster?
-
CCRollyBarbarian, great post and 100% accurate. 95% (at least) of Wooster fans are Wine & Cheesers. The die hards (myself included) tend to sit or stand away from the fakers in the stands. Sometimes I think it would be louder on that side if all of us sat in the stands and were allowed to shout and holler, while the fakers watched via video link in the Performing Arts Center. The new AD could make one hell of a decision by ousting this regime....hell they brought in an AD for a month just to get rid of Mike Gallagher and Frank Pilsitz and you see where that's gotten our Girls Basketball program...
-
Old RiderIt seems to me that ever since that new high school was built, wooster sports as a whole has gone down hill!
-
CCRollyAndy Kellar is the new AD at Wooster. He holds the keys to the program in his hands at this point.
-
CCRollyOld Rider, since the new high school was build, Wooster football won a 2-3 OCC Titles and had a couple playoff berths. The boys basketball team was a few Federal League titles and shared an OCC title with Mansfield Sr, and had their first Regional trip in 45 years or so. The baseball team has won a few OCC Titles, and had a State Final Four trip one year. Volleyball and girls basketball were very sucessful up until the past 3-4 years or so. The fan following has defintely taken a heat since we moved north however.

THE4RINGZBeing a Wooster resident, I believe the apathy about the football program comes from the predictablity of the program. We all know how this movie is going to end once it starts in late August. People are hungry for a winning team, not just a team that continues to squander some pretty good talent these past few seasons. The game has changed in the past decade, well unless you play in Wooster.
As far as the drop off in interest once the new school opened, I think there is some merit to that. I think there is a missing connection between the school and the new Follis Field. I think Follis is cold and very univiting, whereas Maurer was Wooster Football. People connected with Death Valley. Going to a game there was more than just a game, it was an event. Sure the parking sucked, the stands were too small, and the lighting was terrible, but it was high school football. Now the General's play in a soccer stadium. WTH?
As far as the "new" AD goes, who knows. They still haven't hired a boy's lacrosse coach. That has been vacant for a couple of months now. -

I'm not from your neck of the woods, but why on earth do they keep the guy?CCRolly;900913 wrote:
Alright guys, I wouldn't allow myself to comment on this last night on here, because I knew it wouldn't be pretty. CCRollyTotally agreed about their being new identity for this football team at Follis. One of the several things they really botched when building the new High School. In my opinion, they should've built a small soccer stadium and made Follis Field a legitimate Football Stadium. Move the stands in about 20 yards closer to the field and give the thing some personality. The "victory" bell they put behind the one end zone was pretty corny, the mascot looks like Col. Sanders from KCF, and dear god the fans treat it like you're watching a golf event. Let's face it, the money they make at Football games make it pretty important to the administration....which makes you wonder why they wouldn't it take it more seriously.
