Only Indian Creek 2011 Thread

MANAZEOk I know that there is already another IC 2011 thread but I'm tired of the battling between Creek and other schools. I would like to keep this all about Indian Creek Football! If anyone mentions another school outside of a school on our schedule I will ask the mods to delete said post. Please lets keep this to Creek Football!
2011 Varsity Football Schedule
Aug. 26 Weirton 7:00
Sep.2 Linsly 7:00
Sep. 9 Oak Glen 7:00
Sep. 16 at St. Clairsville 7:30
Sep. 23 Bellaire 7:00
Sep. 30 at Union Local 7:30
Oct. 7 Martins Ferry 7:00
Oct. 14 at Harrison Central 7:30
Oct. 21 Buckeye Local 7:00
Oct. 28 at Edison 7:30 -
reddevil90I can see a 8-2 or better yet 9-1. St Clairsville and Edison are the ones to beat. And Weirton all depends on how they come out the first game. Should be a solid year for Creek.

sonofsamVery interesting schedule this year. We have the potential to do very well this year and for the next few years to come... The reason this years schedule is interesting is because Weir gets a new coach and could be one of those immediate turnarounds within their program, although I do not see it happening for at least a year or two. Linsly is a scary game. Yes they are a small school, but they have speed and size. They do not play in the post season, so every game is a playoff game to them. Oak Glen gave us a butt-whoopin last year. We did not play that game to our full potential and Oak Glen took advantage of that. Chance Rowland comes back for his senior year and OG could make a run at the WV playoffs. Then there is the B8 schedule... The schedule has changed around a bit from previous years and we square off with St.C. right away. This game could dictate how the rest of the B8 schedule plays out. We are long over due for a win against them. Bellaire came to us last year and their coach put together a great game plan. They took advantage of every opportunity and let with a win. Some payback should be in order. UL is in a bit of a slump as compared to recent years, but they did give us a game last year and hopefully we can beat them again this year. Ferry... We shot ourselves in the foot against them last year. We had them on the ropes and made mistakes. Hopefully this year we can put it away. Harrison Central is in a bit of a decline also, but we need to score early and often to make sure we get a win streak going against them. Buckeye Local should be better this year, but so are we. Hopefully we beat them again this year. And then there is Edison... Finish the regular season strong and beat the cats.
This year's season will be a test from the start, we need to keep the focus the players showed against Edison last year and we will be looking at a very good season. -
MANAZEI would love to see a 9-1 season, it has been to long since we had a strong winning season. It would be nice if they can make a playoff run and then put on the ballot a new levy for a new High School to go with the Jr. High we are building.

The new high school will take some time. Let the new Jr. High get built before we go asking the taxpayers to build another school. The new jr. high will be a very nice facility. -
MANAZEYou have to hit them when they're happy though, remember back in 96 when we were having troubles getting a levy passed and then we made the playoffs? Next vote the levy passed.

steeler43U need to watch HC this year! they only lost 4 or 5 seniors from lastyears team! they have 40 kids in weight room every mourning. They also got a transfer RB! not sure what school he came from, but he was the starting RB on state championship team from lastyear!

IC won't be going into the game thinking it will be easy. -
reddevil90Go Creek. And thank you Mavs.

MrExcitementOak Glen will not be very good. Tony Filberto has put is name into every open Head coach position this offseason. Rowland graduated as well.

Bigred1995How many seniors did IC graduate last year?

Rowland is a Senior this year. I do agree about Filberto though... He went fishing for money and no one wanted him. I wonder how OG feels about him now? -

sonofsamBigred1995;800709 wrote:How many seniors did IC graduate last year?
Not many, but I would LOVE to have the grads back for just one more year. The grad class included
Jordan Spence WR/DB
Bryan Rupert WR/DB (Did not play games 3-10 due to neck injury)
Niko Otto RB/LB
Adam Young QB/DB
Tyler Thomas OL/DL
Isiah Fletcher TE/DE
P.J. Oiler WR/DB
I believe that was all of them. If I missed anyone, forgive me I am a bit tired. We graduated a good handful of our "skilled" players, but I am VERY eager for this year. We return our entire O-Line except for Tyler Thomas. All but one of those returning linemen are going to be only juniors. Many underclassmen rotated in and can fill the O-Line role easily. Our ENTIRE D-Line returns who will all be juniors as well. For once at Creek, we have a stable line on both sides of the ball that is young and very experienced. We also have a great incoming sophmore class (Last year when they were freshmen, they played the entire reserve game against HC and tied) who a lot of them saw plenty of PT at the varsity level on special teams and on offense and defense. On top of that, we have an EXCELLENT incoming freshmen class that will be able to contribute at the Varsity level.
On offense... The line is stable and secure. Mark Ludwig returns as the feature RB. He is shifty and smart. If he works on his speed in the off season, he could very well be a top back in the B8. His younger brother Marik could also share time with him or be seen at FB. Marik got a lot of PT last year as a sophmore. The signal caller will be David Kemp. Kemp was Adam Young's back up the past two years and is a very good QB. He proved his worth during the 2009 season at St.C. when Adam went down and Kemp drove the Skins 80 yards for a score that tied the game late in the 4th qtr. I have seen this kid play, I have seen him in practice... He gave Adam a battle last year for the starting job and his "height" put him at a disadvantage. Well he grew... Up and out. The Skin should not miss a beat at the QB position. Jordan Spence and Bryan Rupert will be missed at the wide out spot, but two EXCELLENT receivers are ready to take those roles and run with them. Alex Young (brother of Adam Young) will be a big target at wideout. Very athletic and only a junior. Frankie Kamarec is the other threat. As a sophmore he caught the only TD in the game vs. John Hay on a great grab. Frankie is Mr. Reliable and he is also very tall. Frankie could post big number this year... Don't forget about a young man by the name of Furda either. Michael Furda returns for his senior campaign as a TE/DE. Very smart, game proven, and a leader. Furda was injured a good bit of last year and he could not wait to get back on the field. Look for him to be a leader on this years team.
Defensively, the line is solid. Linebackers are a bit of a mystery... Both Ludwigs will get time, Anthony Davis will get time, Shane Winland (who returned an INT last year as a sophmore from the LB spot) will surely have a place for himself, but there are other Redskins who could also fight for or see time at the LB position. On name that keeps coming to mind is Blake Roar who got a good amount of time in last year as a freshmen. Kamarec and Young will hold down the corners, and Kemp could see time at his Safety position as he has for the past two years. I wouldn't count out Roar at this spot either.
We have a solid team this year. We have a young, experienced team. We also have depth. I have personally seen that the weight room is doing what it should, and we are a lot bigger than IC teams of the past few years. As long as the player keep that hunger they found last year, it very well could be an interesting and fun year for the Skins... -

The team that scares the heck out me more than anyone on our schedule is Linsly... Laugh all you want, but they are big, fast, and well coached. We can beat them but its gonna come down to us wanting to win. Oak Glen will not get us two years in a row... I just do not believe it. ST.C. has the upper hand on us, but if we fight like we did in 2009, we can beat them. Ferry is going to have a tougher time than you think. We beat ourselves last year and almost ALL of these kids kicked themselves for what happened... They all played and they all remember. Ferry could be in trouble. I do not see your Buckeye prediction at all... They are a struggling and I do not think they can get it back together in one year. -

I think the Bellaire game could be a loss, only because you know that they will attempt 20+ passing plays, without constant pressure from the defense they could score often. Linsly will be a win for creek. Buckeye should also be a win, they always play each other tough and I believe having the game at creek this year should be enough to give creek the advantage and the win. The rest of your predictions look about right for the rest of the year but anything can happen during the year. Creeks weakness will be Defense with the loss of some key players. The Offense should be OK with Kemp at QB as he did a good job last year when he was in the game and could have started last year. -

I think Bellaire owed us one last year. IC 42-7 in '09. We score at will against them early and often. However, I do not see them getting away with it again. We have a better team and last year was a shootout 38-31. Neither team's defense could stop the other. This year our defense should grow into a much better "team defense". I do not think that the loss of key players will affect the defense as much as you think... We have young players that have developed into leaders and plenty of depth. One or two people do not make a defense. They can make a defense better, but they do not make the entire defense. I have to believe from what I have seen that this year's defense will be better than last years. Experience has not substitute.
I am curious about Oak Glen and Ferry too... Bot of those could quite possibly be wins for Creek. Linsly and St.C. bother me. I already said what i think about Linsly and I will take a 7-6 victory there any day, but St.C. just seems to always have our number. They bother me because the players haven't found it within themselves to go out on the field and kick the living snot out of them for 48 minutes. It was mentioned somewhere before that St.C. is soft... BEAT them for 48 minutes and you win the game. Hopefully we come out for this game fired up and knocking heads.
By the way... Think the "all gold" will be used again this year? -

If the defense is improved, things will be good for Creek. Last year it seemed that a lot was put on Otto and the other kids tried to feed off of him and I wonder if you will have that type of player to take his place, not just talent wise but the leadership he showed at times. I do think you may be giving Linsly a little too much credit, Indian creek may not be a powerhouse school but the are not some little prep school that Linsly likes to schedule. Ferry will always be a tough game because of their coaches, even when they are thin on talent they win games because of the coaching staff so that could go either way depending on who they return. You are right about St.C, they are a well rounded team and seem to always figure out a way to win. Oak Glen is still a team that surprises me after the down years they had over there but I am not a big Filberto fan and wonder if he may have just got lucky last year and things may fall apart for them this year but regardless of some of the teams on your schedule being down, If Creek doesn't show up and take charge for the entire game it could be a long year. The bright side is that I do believe Creek will be in good shape with Kemp under center as long as they can establish a running game to help him out, the kid has a nice arm and played well last year but just had to wait his turn as Young did a good job last year when he was healthy. The one thing I like about Creek is they have established some very nice rivalry's with Ferry, Buckeye, Harrison and Edison and that is 4 games that can go either way every year just because of the atmosphere of being a big rivalry, not many teams have that many big games on the schedule every year. -
icredskinsI've been told that the passing scrimmage against CCHS this Friday, June 17 is closed to the public. It is scheduled for 10 or 10:30 at the Central practice field.

I would have to believe it is a closed practice also, I just saw Coach Connor... I should have asked him. -

Your right on the money. I do believe that the defense will be better this year, it will be more of a team effort rather than build around the few seniors and lean on them for help. Everyone on defense saw plenty of time last year and a lot of kids stepped later in the year. I do not believe finding a leader on D will be hard, and it will be interesting to see how new D-Coordinator Grinch does with them.
Btw, Linsly still scares me, mostly because of the speed. If we come out ready to play though, we should handle them. I cannot wait for football... -

How long has Grinch been coaching football out at Creek? He was one heck of an athlete at shadyside, football and wrestling. -
