Ok, so let me say this... A. Connor is head coach... The ONLY member of this current staff that was there when he took over is Joe Hammack. You forget that Coach Kucz retired along with Coach Barrett... Coach Kessel took a hike (Details fuzzy, but have my assumptions) and now the staff is completely Connor approved... Hammack, Grinch, Karas, D. Connor, Serafini, Voltz, Pompa, and all the other staff of middle school and freshman teams, equipment managers, trainers, doctors, and all of it. This is a Connor approved staff so where is your gripe?password;883543 wrote:I wish I had the one answer that would fix everything at creek, but it more complex than that. I do think it is time for a coaching change and let the new coach hire his own staff, not be required to keep certain people on board because they are friends with the board or are close to retirement, which has been the case in the past. The are some on the board who are only concerned with sports when one of their family members is involved and they can use their authority to try and dictate to a coach. You ask who would I hire for the head coaching job, I really don't have an answer for that because they would need to advertise and see who is interested. -

Barrett was a big loss for program, he was tired of politics.
Kessel tried to buck the system and refused to play politics.
Grinch and Hammack are good guys for the program.
I never really heard of any of the other names on staff, except for maybe Karas, was he a junior high coach at creek? I am pretty sure that the trainer is assigned to the team from Riverside Medical. I know that Connors was also paid as the equipment manager along with another guy. I could go on with more truth about the program but I am not going to do it. I will continue to root for Creek every week just like I do for the other local teams but I don't have to agree with their ways. -

I have a soft spot in my heart for both Coach Kucz and Coach Barrett. Two excellent coaches and absolute great guys. I am happy to see them both enjoying the family time they are getting now.
As for Hammack and Grinch, I agree they are also excellent coaches. Two young guys that have very big futures ahead of them and I hope those futures include them staying at Creek.
Coach Karas is the QB coach. Until he came along, the definition of an IC QB was to put our best athlete at the spot and hope he can adjust. With Karas, he can help groom and polish a QB, evidence of this is Adam Young who was a very good QB at Creek who worked with Karas and now owns all but one QB record.
I left out Coach Leas in my last post... He, Coach Voltz, Coach Serafini, Coach Connor, and Coach Pompa all do multiple duties with the team.
As far as Equipment management goes, Connor's father and Mr. Bell take care of it.
I have no gripe about the current staff. A lot of factors play into a football team and they have continued to move forward every year. -
I Am Ahabsonofsam;883515 wrote:Your post above has not correlation to what you quoted... If we cannot beat Linsly (who is a better team than just about EVERYONE in the B8 this year) at home then we are sub-par?
What does it mean when you get your arse handed to you by a D5 school? Thats unacceptable by Big Red standards and if your happy with sub par performances, I'm sure Ursuline would love to schedule you again next year so you can be THEIR homecoming doormat.
While Ursuline is off playing talent of their level (red lion) Big Red soaks in the sun continuing to buy Maryland and New York teams that win in their out of state conferences and bring those out of state points right to Big Red on a plate. Who wins in this game? The team coming for the paycheck or the team that just wants to sit back and eat the point cow and brags about no one wanting to play them because they are so good? LOL NOW THAT IS A JOKE. The reason no one wants to play you is because you have to look outside the box, find a GAME, not an automatic win.
You claim we do the same thing over and over expecting a different result, look in the mirror... Ya barrowed enough athletes (then disowned them) to win you 2 state championships back to back... You play the same teams every year and you have been getting worse every year with no end in site to how badly you will finish this year... Play some competition, get better, GO to that LEVEL you speak of and PROVE IT!
Hey Ahab the Arab, go put on your 1962 Ray Stevens album and come back when you want to talk about IC instead of degrading them. Until then, go back to Big Red...
You fail to mention the fact that SHS is a perennial playoff team who has state titles. Every team loses games. Big Red loses games and goes to the playoffs and is recognized as a powerhouse around the state. IC loses games, and loses, and loses. Never goes to the playoffs and rarely beats anyone of playoff caliber.
Your post almost makes sense though. Ursuline loses, Massillon loses, Mooney loses, Big Red loses, Coldwater loses. They go to the playoffs yearly and are recognized as powerhouse teams to be reckoned with. IC loses and goes nowhere. Starting to understand yet?
Out of curiosity, how many years of no playoffs is Redskin Nation willing to live with? B/c they are not close. We see teams come from nowhere and start winning. Marlington, Salem for example. IC is not heading in that direction. You can't just repeat the same crap and hope for a miracle. There is a method and IC is not there.
Keep posting and maybe one of them will make sense though Sam. It's the infinite monkey theorem. -

I have nothing but respect for coach Barrett, he is a stand up guy and always cared about the kids. He was never one for the politics, that is why everyone loved him. I think Kucz was more concerned with getting by and keeping the parents happy. -

So basically you are saying that no one should support IC because we do not qualify for the playoffs every year? What about Cleveland browns fans? Should they dump their team to? Pirate fans? I support my team because I played there and thats where my heart is. If we NEVER make another playoff game or win a state championship, my support will never go away.I Am Ahab;884180 wrote:You fail to mention the fact that SHS is a perennial playoff team who has state titles. As for Marlington and Salem, they have a rather large area to pull kids from, this area has upwards of 8 school districts within a 30 mile radius. I won't get into the specifics of why things are the way they are because you know why. Quit digging and enjoy your success... All good things come to and end sooner or later and I will keep supporting my Redskins. Sorry I can't please you by jumping on the band wagon like so many in our town have done. -
I Am AhabYou either can't read or you are trying to dodge the issue or you are simply in denial. I believe denial. Where did I ever say or even imply that you shouldn't support your team. Go for it. Paint your chest and wear a headdress if thats what you want.
I'm saying if you don't realize that this coaching staff ain't the answer you need therapy. You keep telling us this staff is moving things in the right direction. Sooner or later that has to translate into W's or you have to face the fact that it's not true.
If everyone has your inability to recognize a failure then it will be forever and a day until we see IC play in another postseason game, or even win 7 or 8 games for that matter. Every year it's high expectations and they can't get through a few weeks without a loss.
Also, I am not from Steubenville nor am I a member of Big Red Nation. I stopped by the game the other night and caught the fourth qtr after work. Most nights if I can catch part of a game I go for SHS because they know how to play football. But I've been to a few intriguing IC games in the past few years. I just think your blind hatred and bashing of SHS are ridiculous considering what IC has been unable to do with some real talented teams. -

The problem is you do not see the big picture or you are looking to open up a can of worms... I will not go back there, Have been warned to many times. Open up your eyes and you will see the big picture. I can read fine so what does that tell you? It has NOTHING to do with Creek, we are fine.I Am Ahab;884605 wrote:You either can't read or you are trying to dodge the issue or you are simply in denial. I believe denial. How do you know they have had talented teams in the past and not been able to win?I Am Ahab;884605 wrote:You either can't read or you are trying to dodge the issue or you are simply in denial. We know they have not been able to win much in the years Connors has been coach, are you saying that it was because of the kids having no talent?eyenomorethanu;884726 wrote:How do you know they have had talented teams in the past and not been able to win? -
sonofsamI cannot believe after ONE loss these comments start again... I'm sure when we were down 4 starters late in the game, Connor would have put on pads and helped if he could have along with the rest of us.

passwordConnors has been there about 9 years, how many seasons have they had 7 or more wins?

Because I saw them play, saw those same kids win and win at other sports (beating the Ohio valley all stars that Big Red collects), because I follow area HS football, knew a few kids personally, saw them play in all-star games.eyenomorethanu;884726 wrote:How do you know they have had talented teams in the past and not been able to win? -

One major difference b/t a powerhouse like SHS and a run of the mill team like IC is that when SHS has starters out they have kids ready to step in and play up to the same level. That is bc of good/ great coaching and offseason work.sonofsam;884985 wrote:I cannot believe after ONE loss these comments start again... SHS fans don't have to come up w the we had starters out excuse that Sam keeps in his back pocket ready to use any week. Injuries are part of the game and it's such a lame excuse. I think you would be embarrassed to keep using it over and over. Does anyone care if you had a few starters out. You weren't playing the Green Bay Packers. You should have four kids who can fill in and get a home win. -
I Am Ahab*and if you don't, it's on the coaches.

In 9 years IC has one season with more than 6 wins under the leadership of Connors, why do you think that everyone looks at Creek as a win on their schedule. I have a serious question... if Connors can't win more than 6 games this year, should he be fired or forced to resign?sonofsam;885042 wrote:2004 7-3
So would we be correct to assume that 2004 was the only year they had any talent on the football team? -

SOS could you pease name the coaches in the picture and give us a little background on their quaifications and why they are important to the team? I already know about Connors and Kucz but not the others. -

I Am AhabTell us why it's fine. If it's so fine shouldn't that bring success. The inability to win >6 games w Creeks sched isn't success.

MANAZEGood game tonight Creek beating Oak Glen 34-7. 2-1 is a good start and we can still have a good season. Let's hope the kids continue to play strong and are able to always bounce back from a loss like that.
We got St.C next week at St.C and that will be the true proving ground, if we can beat them we can make the playoffs. -
Struthers FanGreat job Indian Creek.
