Here we go again. A county school wins a few games and they WANT to play Orrville! Just be careful what you wish for!

Just wanted to say a few final words on Rittman......Coach Dennis actually....

    A. To Coach Dennis......Mapleton just snapped a 16 game losing streak by spanking you 41-0. Your offensive scheme doesn't work. You have some talented players.....they deserve a coach with some talent.......you don't have any.

    B. Mapletons band could sniff out that poor excuse for what I can only guess was some pathetic version of a screen pass in the 3rd quarter. If you don't remember, it was the one where 6 Mapleton defenders were waiting for your receiver when he caught the ball and this is not counting the 1 who tried for a pick 6 and misjudged it.

    C. You should try to get your hands on some old Northwestern & Hillsdale 1990's game tapes. Watching them could actually IMPROVE your chances.

    D. When you finally get fired, it should be a requirement for getting your last paycheck that you stop at every house in Rittman and apologize for destroying the program all over again.

Why am I so upset about this? I lost pride and money to some Mapleton dudes talking up the WCAL. Not to mention a very controversial & questionable cornhole tournament defeat to the arch villian Miyagi and his degenerate gambler flunky Red Scum.

LOL thats good stuff right there!!!
  • OQB
The funny thing is, the article written in the daily record when he was hired he was quoted saying I have built 2 programs up and will do the same with rittman. Haha!

One of the funniest things I witnessed at a football game was when Orrville played west Holmes back in 2003. Dennis called that same screen pass you talked about we picked it off and ran it in for six. We kickoff to them and the very first play is that same screen pass and we pick six it again! Lol he is a terrible coach!

How about he tears down that house he's building and leaves town now....Never been so hard to watch Rittman in my life, and that includes the Teague years

last night will be the last rittman game i go to all year.. it absolutely kills me and all the other rittman fans at the game to watch this especially after rittman had a pretty decent year last year and thought we turned the corner for good. For one guy to come in and bring down the program so fast is outragious! The kids on the team have worked hard in the offseason and they dont deserve this! i actually had the chance to talk to some rittman fans last night and they said they would love to have teague back! also that they dont think they can come to 7 more games and watch it anymore! i also overheard a few parents have already went to the schoolboard about the coach and they are only 3 games into the season!!
  • Mr Miyagi
Miyagi doesn't think Rittman will beat Doylestown this year. Mapleton is a very poor team and look what they did to Rittman
  • OQB
I feel bad for the rittman players and parents as long as Dennis is there.

Winning and looking bad is still better than losing and looking good.

Nothing wrong with an ugly win. Ask any of the teams that have had "dynasty-type" eras in the past. They'll tell you that some of their wins were UGLY. From my own Alma Mater, the 2000 Rd. 2 playoff game against Ashland Crestview comes readily to mind, as does the 2001 Dalton game, and the 2002 Delphos St. Johns game.

Ugly wins get you just as many Harbin points as pretty ones. The ugly ones are better, though, because they show you more of what you need to improve.

A Mapleton team who, before tonight, had been outscored 96-7 by its first two opponents (lost 55-0 and 41-7 in weeks 1 and 2).

I hate to see any WCAL school do this poorly. I think I will definitely skip the Smithville-Rittman game this year.
1_beast;889794 wrote:Has anyone ran the table and went 10-0 since the Bears did it in the late 90's? 2 maybe 3 years in a row...I know Smithville was close but always seemed to slip up. I know Rittman did it in 1986...10-0 seasons arent too common in the WCAL.....just a thought.
Smithville's 9-1 (or better) regular season streak:

    1998: 9-1
    1999: 9-1
    2000: 9-1
    2001: 9-1
    2002: 10-0
    2003: 9-1
    2004: 9-1
    2005: 9-1
    2006: 9-1

They flirted with it for a flipping decade. As of 2006, they had never had a regular season record under 7-3 since 1992, when they went 4-6. They hit 10-0 for the regular season the same year they went to the State Championship, in the fall of 2002.
1_beast;889794 wrote:Smithville is TEARING UP THE TURF.
They're back to doing what made them so good for so long: kick-ass, smashmouth WCAL football with tough, workhorse offensive linemen and runners who are willing to punish tacklers.

They had some decent passing teams for a few years, but the bread-n-butter of the creme de la creme Smithville teams was almost ALWAYS that 3-back stable of hard runners running that archaic Wing-T.

Coach Keith's favorite play out of that is my namesake. :D

Ah, good call! I remember that! Week 9, it was a showdown of the 9-0 teams left in the WCAL.

I haven't seen a Rittman game, but seeing that they were decent last year, would it be accurate to say that he came in and tried to fix something that wasn't broken?

I do have to say that I hate when parents try to get involved like that, and in this case, they shouldn't even need to. The Rittman football program reminds me of the New London program of the early 2000s: on life support.

About the same time I heard that Timken scored 50 points in a game for the first time in 10 years. Sigh.....:(

Can you explain this to me?!?!? Norwayne 10-0... means Hdale,Wdale,Sville all have one loss.... Hdale only loses to Norwayne.... so................... Wdale,Sville now have two loses..... How does this work out as a tie with 2 league losses?!?!?!
  • Jmar25
On the subject of Rittman... Who hired Dennis? The A.D. or Super? Also, is the A.D./Super the same people as Orrville's? They are doing that combining deal still right???
  • 107eagles
I definitely feel for the Rittman Indian players, fans, and coaches. But to say that they turned the corner for good after a
5-5 season is a little bit of a stretch to me, especially with how valuable Bauman and Turb were. With that being said, I though Hooser was a heck of a J.V. quarterback last season. Probably the best in the league. I don't know what extent he has been used in the offense to date, but he should be. Unless something changed. Hopefully that injury last night isn't too serious.

As a Smithville fan, this is a great week. Smithville v Dalton.

Atta boy...lol use your Waynedale math to make fun of another Waynedale guys math ;)

He didnt specify that Hillsdale would only have 1 loss :)

I'm guessing Milo (former AD) hired him. Now Dennis is the football coach AND AD.....gonna be tough to get him outta here

Thanks beast for defending me! I meant a toss up between smithville and Waynedale with at least two league losses each.
As much as it hurts to admit it, Norwayne is the real deal this year. The fact they are bigger and stronger than Orrville this year leads me to beleive they would be more than the red riders can handle. Has nothing to do with the Bobcats being a WCAL team.

Bigger and stonger than the riders, but no where near as fast, and that is what would make the game interesting.
