2011 Wayne County Athletic League Football

  • Go Falcons
Miyagi: got your note! LOL! You should have come over. I'm not that hard to find.

Tonight was the typical example of great Ohio football. Being an Orrville fan I didnt really care who won but both teams played hard. I really feel bad for those kids from Hillsdale. For 9 games and 46 minutes this football team was perfect and their season came down to 2 minutes and now its over! Thats a tough way to go out. Keep your head up boys you made your town very proud. Congrats to Norwayne on a hard fought game!

I only wish my Falcons could be joining them. Best of luck to all the local teams next week. It'll be interesting to see how far the Bobcats and Smithies go....wishing them both the best!!!
Are you sure about Smithville getting in????

Congrats to Norwayne, Hillsdale & Smithville on the shared title.

Final Bloody Crawl didn't occur. Big Mouth on internet=testicles in purse Ahahhaaaahaa!!!!

Saw a great game down in Lexington tonight w/ the family:( since it's not WCAL I won't get into commenting on it.

Nice to hear Miyagi made it to Creston, he peeled out of my driveway yelling something about a solo "Miyagi Crawl" at the Creston Moose. He's probably still there.

Why am I not surprised Beast won the 50/50....Oh yeah, I'm guessing it's the 5th time this year a hardcore Waynedale fan won the drawing at.....you guessed it...Waynedale. Congrats anyway

Did Smithville make it to week 11? anybody know?

1_beast;948215 wrote:Well folks.....It has once again flew by us quicker than ever. Another season of WCAL football, with yet more history for the books. It has been a roller coaster season for some, a disppointment for others, a THRILL ride for some....and the RIDE isnt quite over yet for others!
We have had a great season with a trend that has put traditional power houses struggling and others leading the championship drive...new blood tasting success.
We have had injuries, hurt, pain, anger, laughter, high fives, success, failure...tears of sadness, tears of happiness, prayers, celebrations....horn blowing, bells ringing (Waynedales Victory Bell not that silly stolen Amish Schoolhouse bell Falcon carries);)

We have had happy fans, mad fans....great coaching, poor coaching....great officiating, poor officiating....Overtime and blowouts...
    We got the traditional "upset"...
For some...this is week 10....the last warm-up for the playoffs.....For others...this is week 10....The LAST Game some of these young men will ever play. Tonight will be tears shed by parents, athletes, coaches, cheerleaders and band members.....We, as fans embrace this sport we LOVE.
Passion takes over, we thump our chests....we spew hatred, we congratulate, we instigate...Tonight my friends....as you walk into the stadiums....buy those 50/50 tickets, grab your hotdog and a coke and EMBRACE the FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS!! Cheer these young men on and when the last second ticks off that clock...KNOW that a new beginning is coming for the Seniors who will never play again...The Juniors can look forward to their senior season. If you have the chance...grab a kid shake his hand and Thank him for the thrills he has contributed too....be it a Senior that sees little playing time or a Captain...a lineman or a quarterback.
It seems as we start these boys and hope for success...some at the innocent age of 7-8....some not until their Senior year.....but when the last whistle sounds...I can only hope that every young man...win or lose...walks off that field PROUD....Head held high, knowing he represented his school, community, Family and Faith.

Good Luck to area TEAMS tonight and leave it all on the field.

Beast is one fan...that cannot express his appreciation enough for the love of the game, the atmosphere and most importantly the kids!!!
    Most definitely REPS!!!!!
  • distantsmithie
Earlier in the season I did not expect the Smithies to finish this strong... but I will definitely admit it is a very pleasant surprise!! GO SMITHIES!!
  • distantsmithie
It is looking good for Smithville in week 11, but nothing official yet. The right teams lost tonight to give them a great chance!
  • Falcon
Congratulations to the Norwayne Bobcats, those boys played good hard nosed football. Don't mind sharing the title with two superb teams. Want to also express to my Hillsdale Falcon team, great season boys. Hold your heads high young men and go forth knowing that you gave it your all and left it all on the field. And, in response to the post last night about cockiness and stuck up fans at Norwayne. I did not see any signs of this, everyone I had contact with were very nice. Most of them even "sincerely" said good luck tonight. As for the players being cocky, I say not. I would also like to thank all my fellow posters for another great season of football and comradeship. Now it is time to switch into playoff mode, and I extend best wishes to both the Norwayne Bobcats and Smithville Smithies in your hunt for the championship.

Smithville is in, all the teams behind them lost.... that had points to jump ahead of them. Centerburg is a non factor. See riders 1 post. IMO, its a joke that Ridgewood is in ahead of Hillsdale.

Glad to hear. Perhaps the loss last week opened their eyes and they settled down. They seemed pretty full of themselves against Smithville. If so, it is a good lesson to learn before hitting the play-offs.

Completely different atmosphere at Creston tonight. They earned my respect back tonight...see my post earlier about the courage the bobcat fans had to stand up and make a difference.

Hillsdale's nonleague schedule burned them. Nine wins, 5 from Loudonville and a surprising 3 from Mapleton, only 1 from Bucyrus.
Ridgewood meanwhile had 7 and maybe 8 from Martins Ferry, 6 from da Bears and 1 from Buckeye Trail.

Yea, that has been a thorn in our side for awhile. I mean this year we added Bucyrus and dropped Lucas, but didn't help us much. Now next year we have to replace Mapleton because they decided that they don't want to play us anymore. Not trying to upset anyone, but we really can't slide down much. almost anyone would be an upgrade in points.

It's hard scheduling teams that are consistently playoff contenders....it is difficult to judge how the teams will be when you sign a contract 2-3 years in advance.... Last year they schedule Delphos who is in contention for the state championship every single year, and gave the falcons the experience to make that deep playoff run. It is what it is and I hope the Falcon players know they have nothing to be ashamed of and have really been a part of something special in Jeromesville. They have put Hillsdale football on the map and have have many things to be proud about.
