1486wddefinitely respect your opinion on here - your one of the good ones, but I do have some info that says one way or the other and that info comes from my own 2 eyes.O-Trap;942303 wrote:I just don't think there's enough out there to say it's a down year. Is an 0-3 Chippewa team against 3 10-0 teams better than a Smithie team that goes 3-0 against 3 teams that were 0-10? You can't say until they play each other, because there isn't enough info.
Now, since entire conferences from different years can't play each other, you're left with numbers. A conference with more wins doesn't mean it's better necessarily. Winning in an easier schedule is expected, even with identical talent.
My who point, I guess, is that nobody has enough info to say one way or the other. -
1486wdi never understand why anyone ever suggests something like this - no team, in their right mind would ever give up their home field advantage - that's just stupid. I realize home field doesn't mean as much as in hoops, but when it comes down to it, every little bit helps. A playoff game is another story, if its at a nuetral field and demand is high, then by all means move the game.OQB;942885 wrote:I still think Norwayne should move that game to Wooster so their is more room for everyone in attendance....but doubt it will happen since they cancelled or moved all of the remaining games that were suppose to be played on it this week.

Thing is, Wheelersburg doesn't look to be very good either, as every team they've beaten has a losing record. They were not just beaten, but destroyed, by a 5-4 Ironton team back in Week 1 (I'm sure they've gotten better, but that wasn't a close loss ... it was a drubbing.). They've only beaten one team with 4 wins. Portsmouth West at least beat Chesapeake. It seems like neither team is as good as advertised, though.Mr. Russell;942891 wrote:OTrap, I agree with you but I would flip flop Wheelersburg and Liberty Union. Either way, if Hillsdale loses and Smithville wins they still definitely need more help. I just have heard that Portsmouth West really is not that tough and also it stinks because Liberty Union is playing their best ball of the year right now.
All I know about Liberty Union is what I can see on paper. I do see they got annihilated by Amanda-Clearcreek, but Clearcreek looks GOOD this year.
That leaves Hillsdale. They've beat everyone they've played. Some of those teams have been good. They seem like a Jekyll-Hyde team. Not sure how they only beat Loudonville by 7 and Bucyrus by 16.
However, I have a feeling that the good team is going to be up for Friday night. I'm pulling for Norwayne, but I've got my doubts. Maybe if they can catch some of the passes they dropped against Smithville and SHOW SOME DISCIPLINE!
I have eyes as well, but I also know that memories can be deceptive, and we often remember things as being better than they were. I still say it's a hard comparison.1486wd;942896 wrote:definitely respect your opinion on here - your one of the good ones, but I do have some info that says one way or the other and that info comes from my own 2 eyes.
I could see the bottom three being below average, maybe, but not across the board. -

Good point, and I did say I doubt it will happen....I just have to wonder how Norwayne is going to hold a big crowd like what will be at the game on Friday. It doesn't matter lol, but would make it nicer for us fans to have some room to breathe -
footballnutI was away after Friday night and missed all of the action. I'm shocked to hear that Smithville pulled off the big upset. Congratulations to them. It sounds like everyhthing fell into place for them. Norwayne only had the ball for 7 plays in the second half?....crazy! I guess they cant beat you if they dont have the ball.
I certainly dont want to stir anything back up but i'm puzzeled as to why everyone on this thread is taking the actions of 1 player and making the whole team out to be a bunch of derilicts. I'm not from Norwayne but I know alot of Norwayne people and have met several of their players. All of those kids seemed like fine young men when I spoke with them. I didnt hear anything cocky from any of them in the conversations I've been involved in.....and they know I'm from Orrville. Up until now almost nothing negative except for the fact that their coaches are clueless ( that didnt come from the players...adults). I've seen 2 of their games and was impressed with the way the carried themselves. The odd thing about all of this being said is something I heard about the postgame. I have a friend from Smithville that I called to congratulate. He was embarrassed about it but he told me that most off their student fans and many of the adults were taunting not only #22 but all of the Norwayne players as they left the field. He told me that those actions were no better than #22's and that he is seriously considering approaching Smithvilles administration about it this week. He also stated that he wasn't alone in his disappointment. -

Your Jekyll-Hyde comparision is pretty accurate. IMO Hillsdale hasn't played with the urgency it has needed to in some games this season. The seniors at Hillsdale have played in a bunch of big games these last few years. A handful started as sophmores and they expect to win each time on the field....But you have to play a full four quarters to win a game. Loudonville had a nice team, I am glad we got them early in the year. If the Hillsdale team that played Bucyrus shows up at Norwayne, Norwayne will name the score. I however think it will be a great game. Should be a fun week reading on the OC.O-Trap;942917 wrote: That leaves Hillsdale. They've beat everyone they've played. Some of those teams have been good. When designing the new building for the High School, I'm not sure they remembered parking. I think they are planning a large parking lot just north of the softball field but it has not been started. They may have to open up parking at the Elementary school and possibly the sale barn thats about another 1/4 mile north. Good Luck folks and try to be patient with Creston's less then intelligent police department.....:thumbdown:bogey;943031 wrote:Seating wouldn't be my biggest concern.....after watching the Dawgs up there with a modest crowd, my question is....where are they gonna park everybody??? -

believe it or not conotton valley actually has 2 wins this year.THE4RINGZ;942677 wrote:Me and the Yuengling don't feel like scrolling back to find the post where someone mentioned that Chippewa is the worst football program in the state of Ohio, but I suggest you look at the program at Conotton Valley, you'll feel better about the Chipps. -

However, overall, they could be the worst program in the state.thedemoralizer7;943105 wrote:believe it or not conotton valley actually has 2 wins this year. -

Parking will be awful for sure. They must've forgotten that need when they built.dontcare;943028 wrote:2300 at the very most, the parking will be a disaster. -

chipps do have some talent but the one game i did see it looked like they didnt know how to finish the game or know how to win. It sucks for those chippewa seniors who will go winless as a junior and now their last season as seniors. However, us rittman folks do like the big cheif in rittmanchippblue;941749 wrote:To the demorilizer7 yes he is that bad just look at the stats. Out of 121 div 4 teams in ohio we are ranked 121. He is 0-19 so far and we have only scorscoreded 6 offensive TD's vs other teams varsity squads in those games. Since he never takes his varsity out of the game most of our points come against other teams jv squads in the 4th. The play calling is terrible and there are NO fundamentals at all. We have kids fighting with each other a kid caught undage drinking etc., and they are still on the team. No discipline at all or organization in the program. If in two years you see Zero improvement it is time to go. -
THE4RINGZIts nice they started a solid youth program in Doylestown, now they need to get the pieces at the next few levels in place or when they do get some talent it will just transfer out.
-
OQBI think an important thing for Chippewa is to not have a revolving door at head coach....if they could find someone that could help build this program to respectibility and stay longer than 2-3 years, that would do wonders for the program.

Just a quick look at some of the worst in Ohio and points scored and points allowed.THE4RINGZ;943113 wrote:However, overall, they could be the worst program in the state.
Chippewa 63 ( 7.0 avg) 322 ( 35.8 avg)
Rittman 55 (6.1) 346 ( 38.4)
Belpre 44 (4.9) 312 (34.7)
Northmor 50 (5.6) 455 (50.6)
Collinwood 42 (4.7) 437 (48.6)
Toledo Woodward 38 (4.2) 475 (52.8)
Some real long nights watching any of those teams in person.
And a couple really poor teams this decade in 2002 , Lima Perry scored 20 points total and were shutout 8 times, while Riverdale scored 28 while giving up 535 points, avg of 2.8 to 53.5 scores. -
FalconfirstdownInteresting predictions last week.
