thePITmanAny update on Moyer from Dalton? I heard he was lost on the first offensive play. I hope he's alright! If it's serious, is it serious enough to take him out for basketball, too?

Norwayne asked for it and smithville gave them all they could handle and much more. Smithville came out and showed them how to play football. They outplayed outclassed and outcoached norwayne tonight. I hope the bobcats can get back on track for a W next week. coming from a Norwayne fan that post was perfect. Very well said!
I would give you rep, but I've given out to much today  -

I agree 100%.....i think that is the problem with Norwayne.....young coaches with no discipline......they pick and choose who to point the figures at....heard tonight that the O cordinator for Norwayne said that the O line sucked.....i really didnt think that was the problem.....you know the ol saying...."point a finger at who you want, but remember three are always pointing back at you"... we had no offensive game plan tonight and we made no adjustments on D......Dr. KnOiTaLL;941203 wrote:It looked as tho Smithville came in with a gameplan and stuck to it throughout the game. Their defense is incredibly underrated in my opinion, so congrats Smithies for holding one of the premier offenses in league history to 14 points. Play calling was pretty un-imaginative in the second half, but definitely led to a slugfest and an exciting end of the game. Hopefully coach can redirect the boys for Hillsdale next week. Those personal fouls need to be eliminated as well... Smithville was obviously the more disciplined team. -

OQBIn all honesty I know this game sucked for them....but if you stand back and look at this Norwayne team, this is the game that they needed. A lot of life lessons to learn after tonight...I just hope the coaches know how to teach them those life lessons. After watching the way they handled that player, I wasn't impressed with their disciplinary actions.

I couldn't agree more with this post. I was really looking forward to seeing Norwayne in person in the playoffs to see if they are the "real deal", and maybe this loss will light a fire under their rear end and make them even more hungry to prove something in the post-season. But they still have a big game next week for a share of the WCAL.OQB;941223 wrote:In all honesty I know this game sucked for them....but if you stand back and look at this Norwayne team, this is the game that they needed. Liked what I saw tonight. Would never want to play without our qb, but good for the team to know they can turn it around without him. Bodes well for the next few years.OQB;941098 wrote:Great to see the young pups pull out win #2 and work to finish the year on a high note! Congrats bulldogs!
And reps to everyone this week who mentioned the possibility of an upset this week. WCAL is the home of the upset! -

beatobamaWallace was not the same player after Hilty put a big hit on him. Great athlete though.

apparently you've been penciled in as a restroom cleanup specialist.
And, apparently, I decline the "penciled in" job.
Can't I just relish in my Trifecta tonight without being dogged out? -

I heard, and am hoping, that it's a sprain. They wrapped him up good and he tried to go back in, but came out again pretty quickly.thePITman;941213 wrote:Any update on Moyer from Dalton? It was said earlier that it's sad we so excited to win by two over Chippewa. I just don't think people realize how young the Bulldogs out there are. We have 7 sidelined with injuries. Most of them started out playing at least some varsity. We have freshmen out there. The boy who returned the kickoff to score is a freshman. The qb who came in for Moyer is a freshman. They have had to take up a big job with little varsity experience and tonight they helped to get the win. We had a great blend tonight of senior leadership and youngsters stepping up. To me that is definitely something to be cheering about. -
OQBThe experience those young guys are getting this year will be invaluable to them the next 3-4 years.
-
Old RiderWell...it was obvious that the "shut down corner" and the "X factor" and the "big 10 qb" that was hyped up in a video didn't get it done! Great win Smithies!
...all that talk and what I saw on the field was a team with a coaching staff that has been there in done that (Smithville) and another that seemed out of sorts (Norwayne) because they actually had to COACH and PLAY 4 quarters! -
OQBAfter seeing them tonight in person, the way they run their offense does absolutely nothing for the QB. They line up, wait to see what the defense is in and then look to the coaches to tell them what to do and where to go with the ball instead of calling a play having your qb read the defense and knowing where to go with the ball based on the coverage. We see this in both high school and college and those qb's don't really excel at the next level.
-
OQBThe way that offense is run will set Wallace back in his development as a college qb...never was a fan of the line up, see what the defense is in and then look to your coaches to see what play to run and where to go with the ball. Just call a play and let your QB read the defense to throw the ball to the right guy.

We saw tonight what a team can look like when they fight for their lives.
To the Norwayne Bobcats, in the words of Gene Hackman, "Up until now [Hillsdale] hasn't been afraid of you, and they should be, because you have a powerful weapon working for you. There is no tomorrow for you, and that makes you all very dangerous people!"
Here's my assessment of the game tonight:
First, it was very obvious which of the teams demonstrated discipline tonight. #22 popping off, Wallace's shot, and the lead-with-the-head were all signs of a team that played with passion ... but without discipline. That was definitely a key to this game.
Second, Wallace got hit tonight ... a LOT! You could tell he hadn't been battered like that this year.
Third, the Smithville coaching staff wasn't without its questionable calls. Going for two when you're down 14-13 early in the game? Why?
Fourth, the Smithville CBs were playing a MILE off the line of scrimmage, and with two safeties, they seemed to compensate well. STILL, they got beat a couple times.
Fifth, Wallace's accuracy throwing the ball was a little overrated coming in. Seems like the pass offense consisted of Wallace just chucking it down field and letting the WRs go get it. He's still quite an athlete, but he's not as much of a passer as he is a guy who can throw the ball down field.
Sixth, the Norwayne defense was pretty slow to read the play. Seems like that quick hand-off was able to get through the D-line before the defense seemed to know what was happening.
Seventh, the Smithville defense is still a Jekyll/Hyde. One week, they give up 39 to Northwestern. Another week, they allow just 14 to a team that averages like 50 a game. That would worry me if they were to make the playoffs.
Finally, I was shocked to see that Smithville ran the same gameplan they've run all year. I was expecting some trickery or something.
Can't wait to see the box scores on this game. Seems like neither team had that many yards. -

I agree. Wallace does have a cannon, but he's not really being taught how to read a defense and go thru his progressions. A majority of the offense is "everybody go deep!" like can be seen on the average playground. I hope this is a wake up call, though, bc while this game stings, there's another big one next week. Time for everyone in that locker room to do some soul-searching and find a way to get a W next week... And preferably, not talk and chirp about it.OQB;941248 wrote:The way that offense is run will set Wallace back in his development as a college qb...never was a fan of the line up, see what the defense is in and then look to your coaches to see what play to run and where to go with the ball. OQBnice summary O-Trap.
Smithville had that 2pt conversion if the kid just put some more air on the throw to get it over the defender....the guy was all alone in the back corner. -

absolutely....Their is a difference between a passer and a thrower. Wallace can throw the ball, but his mechanics and throwing motion need improvement to make him a good passer. Then you add in how to read a defense, who knows maybe he does know how, but the offense really isn't allowing him to develop as a true qb. -

In all seriousness, the Norwayne team out there had a lot of talent.
I had the misfortune of standing behind a fellow Smithville fan who was yapping at the Norwayne team as they headed to the locker room. I detest when a jerk ruins the reputation of others (much like our favorite NHS corner).
Agreed. Reading the defense will be more of a challenge once the coaching staff is no longer going to do it for you.OQB;941248 wrote:The way that offense is run will set Wallace back in his development as a college qb...never was a fan of the line up, see what the defense is in and then look to your coaches to see what play to run and where to go with the ball. OQBHmmm.....interesting theory I just thought about. Paul stopped posting earlier this week, and hasn't posted since. last activity was tonight at 12:29.....
Paul = #22??? -
Dr. KnOiTaLLThe Zimmerly's are big boys. #22 didn't do them any favors tho... Anyone know how Zimmerly is health wise? He definitely took a hard shot and got up limping pretty good. Just a little banged up, hopefully. There's a big one next week!
-
OQBI actually thought Wallace was limping around before the game even started...not sure if he just has a goofy jog or if it really was a limp. Pretty sure that was the most physical team they have played yet and they will be sore tomorrow.
