Your statement that we dont need money we need to get to week 11 I disagree with totally ...first of all everybody needs a few good cash games .. this game would be the best for both schools or close to it ...secondly I am sure that IC and another confrence team could play in an opener and then you would have say a week 7 open for Central .. It just takes a little doing and may take a year or two .. thirdly yes Big Red game was a big gate but IC was not ready for that game yet so it wasnt competitive .. I think the Central game would be competitive definitly .. The Central game would also be a TV game which is something to covet ...I myself as a fan would go see this game from time to time .. I just like watching good rival games ,dont care who is playing and I know there are others like me .. If we disagree on this matter so be it .. I am trying to give you my case for the renewal of this rivalry .. I think it is a great opportunity for both schools to showcase your teams ..Its a win win win deal in my books ... Sore feelings about a few knucklehead kids from years ago shouldnt stop this from happening again.... Unfortunatly the people who decide these things hold grudges far longer than young people and I think these kings and queens of the power grid are cheating the kids at both these schools ..... Does IC and Central play each other at other sports? If so than this is just another ego thing with higher ups .. I believe that .The schools could take a more proactive approach so the vadalising doesnt happen on a larg scale again .. Simple steps can be taken .

Cash games are nice, but if it means altering your goals then it must be overlooked. You are correct about the IC/BR match ups of recent years, we were outmatched... But now that there isn't a Zach Collaros or a Dwight Macon leading this team, it would be a tolerable game for people to watch. Big Red has significantly lost a great deal of their talent and as everyone would expect new players to step up, they will not be able to produce the numbers they did from 2005-2009 in the next few years unless "certain" things happen. Its a shame we are not going to play in the regular season because Creek has a very strong nucleus coming back while Big Red is in the middle of a reloading status. This is why week 11 becomes so important... The goal is Big Red, not CCHS.

    2004 CCHS-21 IC-7

0-5 all time against CCHS. The time to hang one on them is long over due, but under the circumstances I would rather stay 0-5 against them and make the playoffs with a shot at Big Red rather than erase a goose egg against a struggling team out of spite...

They're 0 for Steubenville in football password.

My bad I didn't see SOS address this.

Why do people send their kids to Big Red or better yet to Steubenville City schools ??? Because of the education, just that simple. I live in the I.C. school district ,my wife is a Mingo grad., & all of our kids are in I.C. schools, but if one of them would like to attend any of the city school then I would be more then happy to make it happen. My wife works at Trinty West & has friends who all live out here in the Bantam Ridge area who drive their kids to school everyday because they say the education is better. I live next to a guy who coaches Wintersville Pony League Baseball & his son was top dog in his class,he his now at Ohio St..

Also I don't disagree that at the High School level that some area players leave their schools to attend Big Red !! But what does that say about the programs they are leaving?? I don't think Reno is just going to give anyone a starting job just because they have decided one day to attend his warm heart 2-a days in the hot summer months. Come on people it gets old talking about this kids like BR's lunches better then I.C.,back to the topic.

I knew they were winless against Big Red but was shocked when SOS said 0-5 against Central.I would have thought with the difference in school size and some of the athletes that have played at Creek they would have won a couple of games. They should renew the series and get a couple of wins for the program and kids to build on.I don't see the reasoning of SOS saying that they would not gain any points if they beat Central,so it is not worth playing but you would gain some points for the win and some secondary points.Going 6-4 or 7-3 is not getting you in the playoffs and that is having a good year at creek so why not get the extra win.I have heard that the team is young and will surprise alot of people next year but that has been the saying for many years out there,How can you always be a young team year after year,Do all the older kids quit each year before the season starts?

I was being serious with my reply and did not mean anything degrading towards the Creek as I would love to see them do well.

Fact is kids transfer all the time from both school districts and its mostly at the younger age .. Steubenville has some very good programs ..Its a parental thing nothing more ... We have three high schools within a 5 mile radius not including the Weirton schools and Brooke .. Heck alot of school districst are as large as the threee we have close by

I think dropping Oak Glen and playing Central makes sense .. Central will get better and they will garner some wins ,I think IC would stand a better chane at winning against Central these days and a win is better than a lose .. Big Red plays a small school in Tonowanda NY,It hasnt hurt our playoff goals ... I just think on every level IC and Central makes such good sense ...... It would be competitive ...It would be a TV game .. It would be a cash game .. It would be a good game for other valley fans to go see ...It would generate outside interest in both schools ...It just makes such good sense to me .. I dont think it will happen..but it should ...Central will always be a tough little school and them and IC is neghbor vs neighbor .. You guys could be the rival that Big Red and Central were once ...Those were great times ... I think this matchup is good for the fans

Putting a bullet in your head is better than living... You gonna do that too? Im gonna go jump off a bridge, wanna join me? That statement was absolutely dumb. The teachers at IC are great teachers... Its what you make of your education. I guess IC just sent a student to Annapolis Naval Academy because their academics stink... I did get a flyer for Steub. City Schools in the mail the other day though... Ripped it up and threw it away.

Congrats to that kid and hope they make the best of the opportunity.Every school school sends kids to great colleges and to the armed forces academy, such as the kid from CCHS this past week that was on the news.Every school has kids that are brilliant and would excel no matter what high school they would have attended. The real indicator should be what the school can do for the average student and help him get on the right road to a success so that they can make a good life for their family in the future and be productive in society.

We had a girl graduate this past year with a perfect ACT score. Less than .04 percent of the people that took the test this past year accomplished that feat!

Isnt putting bullet in your head your jumping off the bridge a little overly dramatic .. It was just that guys opinion ..that Steubenville has a better education .. You can toot IC's horn and think otherwise but just because you differ opinions doent make him dumb .. I think he is being a little open minded ...The education you get is your upbringing more than anything its your parents and how you conduct yourself ... I agree with him .. I wouldnt have a problem sending my kid to IC if he wanted to go there or Central if I could afford it .. Big Red has alot of pluses like those others schools do ..Kids are kinda the same around the valley ..they just wear different jackets

    1. if your kids are transferring, or "being recruited", that's a you problem. fix yourself. (99.99% bs anyway)

    2. if a kid and his or her parents think one school offers more than the other, and their is open enrollment, why not do what you think is best for your family?

    3. I live in Indian Creek school district and tried to get my daughters to transfer from Steubenville 3 years ago when we moved, but they didn't want to and I didn't feel any need to make them. Does that make me an idiot, or does that mean Steubenville has an unfair advantage?

    4. Take care of yourselves and you will be fine. I have great respect for IC, from what little that I know about them. my only issue is the poor poor football team who can't keep any talent because Reno steals them blah blah blah. All that is, is a slap in the face of the good student athletes at IC.

Guess what, maybe all the IC folks should worry about why anyone would want to leave their district and fix that instead of crying about reality.

1st step is commitment and scheduling, in my opinion

But you knock IC every chance you get... You PERSONALLY made fun of the portables (trailers as you called them) and said that IC teachers and its school are jokes... You too your Big Red horn EVERY chance you get and you put IC down just the same. Bi-polar issues? All I am saying is that IC has a great school district just as Big Red does... There is no reason academics cannot be achieved at either school as long as the student applies themselves... To say that on is better than the other is like saying apples taste better than oranges because I like the taste of an apple better and that apple has a good football team. Its kinda funny watching these people post that have bandwagon fever... They lack pride and dedication... If you want to send you kid to Big Red, go for it. Hopefully they feel the same way you do and think that just because you say your associated with the school you are a better person for it. Kinda makes me laugh.

@ SOS Show me where I called your teachers jokes .......I dont make fun of teachers ...
If I said something over a year ago about portables or whatever Id have to read the whole page as to what comments of yours I was replying to... Dont take things out of context ..far too many people do that on this site ...Its an old politically trick .... "You said bi polar" No dude I aint bipolar I am trying to be more mature than I have been .. You want to hang on to your grudges or whatever it is go ahead .. I can mix it up ,but Im just trying to talk valley football ..... Sure I tooted Steubenville horn plenty as you Creek ..We can both continue ... You seem to take it very personnal if a kid transfers to Steubenville out of IC and you attack there pride ... I myself could really care less if a Steubenville kid transferred to IC .. Its up to them ....Would you be mad if a good football player transferrred to IC junior high from Steubenville ??.... If you say you wouldnt want the kid ..that would be dumb and if you said heck yes join us .. thats a double standard ...You attack a 17 year old kid on here practically calling him by name .. and thats kind of babyfied and he didnt even transfer from your school ... Do I want all kids to transfer to Steubenville ... Yes I do I want our school system to still be strong and running while some of the other school systems fall by the way side ... I fear a unification like you and Mingo had ..Under no circumstances in this world would I want to change the Big Red name or the colors like your schools did ... It tore Mingo Junction apart .. They still are hurting because they lost there identity .... Go ahead and fight for your schools .. I would and do .. Now if you want to turn over a new leaf and tslk to me like an adult without personnal insults I will do the same .. I wont refer to you as bipor..If not thats ok too ..

You have already done to much talking for me to even remotely consider you an adult or even have an adult conversation... But getting back to the topic at hand about playing Catholic Central, if you must know they were contacted about a game and they said no... Not exactly a shocker and respectable if you ask me. Second, ask Edison how it fared out for them... they went 8-2 and missed the playoffs. their out of conference teams (weir, cchs, and tyler consolidated) had a total of 3 wins... Again, not exactly the route we are looking for.

Catholic Central didn't play Edison in 2010.

SOS, I think that is alittle too much with talks of bullets to the head & jumping off a bridge just because of someone's opinion !! I agree with you & ThinThickBigRed that it is up to you to make the most of your education no matter where you attend.
All I asked was why are so many parents sending their kids into Steubenville schools. I did not at any time put down I.C. or any of their teachers or would I ever do so. IMO, they are so under paided & have to make do with what they are given. I'am vary happy with all my kids teachers . On a side note: Breaking news, I.C. took back 2 students from Big Red this week!! My daughter just texted me that the young man(football, baseball) & his sister(cheerleader) are now living back in the I.C. school district. LOL.

Oh well life aint fair ....If it were your arms wouldnt be longer than your legs.......You saying IC passed on a Central game? Heck Big Red went 8-2 and even got a home playoff game ..Maybe you guys ought to follow our suit play the schedule we played ...since you like to rip it all the time ...

In any case you other IC fans I think would want a Central matchup ..Its good business ..all the way around ... ...I have to look over Edison's schedule again to see why they didnt make it ..that confrence the Buckeye 8 seems pretty even.

Yes I am aware of those kids that IC got back... They were IC all of their life until their mother decided to ship them off to Big Red against their decision as well as their fathers... They never wanted to be there and are happy to be back.

Its still a free country and kids usually want to be with the friends that they grew up with .....Who cares what school somebody else sends there kids ..I know a lady that could have sent her child to IC or Steub school district she decided on IC because of a peanut allergy her child has and she thopught the girl would be better protected in the IC district .. its cool whatever ... my grandmother played basketball for Mingo my father and uncle graduated from Wintersville my mother from Big Red .. Ive had several other nephews go to Toronto .. My friends growing up went to Central .....Ill try and make a case for kids coming to Steubenville because I dont want that district to ever fail ..Like Edison will in a few years and probably IC in the next 20 ...As long as Big Red doesnt get caught on any recruitment violations I dont want to hear about tranfers cause 99% of the transfers I know about from all the school districts are younger kids ..
