I dont consider people that choose to go to Big Red ditching pride, but I do consider the pride of many big Red players has carried them to achieve the best ........ so again allow me to retort which one are you ? -
cannoli137I hope I.C. can pull it together at the start of the season and pull out maybe 6-4 or 7-3. IMO, they have the coaches to get it done & have had the players to get it done but it just seems they just don't start jelling until after mid-season. I asked a former coach at a fall baseball game why drop Big Red for Weir & he said that "It is better for the kids to start off 1-0 then have them start off 0-1". I still would love this game to be played every year, maybe a week# 10 game .

outdoorsmanCreek starts out strong pretty much every year. When they get to the meat of the schedule they slip.

Id like to see IC and Central get back together .. that was a good fit .... dont let a few vandals from keeping that rivalry from regenerating .. It makes perfect sense that those two schools meet .. It is also a moneymaker ....down the road IC and Big Red will get together it probably will first happen in the playoffs ,when IC has a good team ,and then that will generate alot of interest depending on how that game comes out -
Riderwannabeis andrew conner still the head coach

What pride did the Harrison transfer display? Not only that he could manipulate the system with help, but also to loose first round in the playoffs then lose the OVAC championship in wresting... So close, but not quite what was supposed to happen when you ditch your pride in attempt to be something your not. Again, stupid question... You know where my heart is and where it will stay. Sorry to spoil your notion that everyone can be swallowed by Big Red... It just aint happening and I think it scares you that more and more people feel the same way. Keep talking about your championships, you wont see one in the near future. -

IC-Central makes no sense... It does not benefit IC in any way at this point with the division/record difference. -

I know a kid came in from Harrison but evidently you know more about why he came to Big Red than me cause I dont know anything about the kid .. Maybe you should talk to his dad. My question to you wasnt stupid but your answer is .. You imply that a kid choosing to go to Big Red has less pride than one who chooses to stay at another school .. heck that is the only starting transfer that I am aware of at Big Red this past season .How do you know how much pride a young guy has ... maybe a kid transfers for another reason i dont even know and if he transferred for football guess what he still has to earn a spot on the team and if he did that then believe me he has pride or he wouldnt suit up for the Big Red ....BTW most school around these parts would consider making the playoffs a huge success . playing in great places like WH and PBTS aint bad either being in a national spotlight event two to be exact aint bad either .. I guess staying at HC would have been real fun .. I bet the kid had fun and he got a better football education as well as class room .... All I ever heard about the kid was he was well liked and a nice kid ... you show your style I dont know how you know so much just keep patting yourself on your back but leave others alone if he had wanted to go to IC I wouldnt give 2 cents why do you care ? stupid -

makes no sense?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I would think that you of all people would want this matchup.... Even though I cant stand you I actually did think you had just a little bit of football knowledge .... Central dominated the series with IC in the past but it was usually a very tight game .. I think IC might have gotten them a few times of late .. Just because they are D-6 doesnt mean anything .. Most years they would give you a bunch of points for playoffs ... You havent even been to the playoffs yet so why are you against this ..... It would fill the stadiums and bring back some old days that alot of us liked ...IC and Central a good matchup on the field for every reason ... Niether would dominate I think ....It would be a cash game for both schools ,... and the winner would most times be awarded good playoof points .....SOS you are really off the boat .. I gave you way way too much credit .... i think you are disingenuious but i always thought that to some degree in other words you are full of it and yourself. -

I love the defensive approach... Of course I know more about the situation than you do because "my alumni" is part of the Buckeye 8 conference who joined HC in protesting the transfer. No kid that lives 20+ miles away from Big Red just wakes up and says "Mom, Dad... I want to go to Big Red because I will make the playoffs and thats a huge accomplishment for me. We will have to move but this is my decision you have to make this happen for me no matter what the cost to the family is." And then his parents saying "sure Johnny, we will up and change our lives completely so that you can be part of Big Red high school... Whatever my little Johnny wants!" LOL don't make me gag!!!! Which address was assigned? the one in country club? How about the one back in alexander manor? Or were they forced to use the one in Labelle or PH? Sorry, but you won't get a shoulder to cry on here...

You don't think I would love to hang one on CCHS? I would LOVE it... Only problem is that Creek is looking for a playoff berth, not redemption. I just as much as every other Creek supporter would love to beat CCHS but its just not in the cards and not the direction we want to go. I'm not off the boat and learn how to spell... It will make you look that much "less" uneducated. -
MANAZEI agree with SoS for once I would love to see Creek crush CCHS.
-
Thinthickbigred@SOS Even if you do know more about a particular student .. That is cheap of you to point a kid out like this .. I dont care for whatever reason he came to the Red .. If Reno thought he was good enough to play and he got along with his teammates more power to him ....To talk of somebodies pride that you dont know isnt very educated .. It is just grandstanding , If he had come from IC then maynbe I could see your disapointment ,but dont over due it . It comes down to parenting ,and besides lets remember these guys are like 17 and 18 . Back when I was in school many moons ago ,we had a girl drive in all the way from tappan lake to go to Big Red ..It had nothing to do with sports ... People like you just want to keep as many kids away from our schools as possible ... I know for a fact that IC gets a load of kids that would normally go to Steubenville city schools .. You have double standards.. Or you would be nuts if a very good football player from our school transferred to your school ,and you said nope cant join the team ... It would be illegal in the first place to discriminate against him .

You agree that he would love Creek to hang one on Central ,but he still doesnt want the game to happen is that your stance? -
ThinthickbigredAgain about the Central game SOS is implying that Central would be a bad pickup because they would not garner enough points .... Here is my case for IC playing this game .. #1 I think IC of late would win this game and a win generates confidence...,momentem..and it puts points in your colum for playoffs ..A loss to a superior school garners none of those things.... #2 This would be a cash game obviously and that would be good for both schools. #3 It is a true and old riv;ry that would actually still be a very good one .. its nostaligic and it brings back memories from the old days before half the populas left the area...
Another point Id add is that IC needs to start slow and not play over there heads to get into the playoffs .. 6-4 and 7-3 hasnt worked lately Give yourself a good chance to win all your non confrence games first ..8-2 would be easier to achieve and a better recordd even if its not to the playoffs ,garners more interest winning is contagious ...Only positives happen .. I dont think a loss is good for any reason ...............
Also on a side note SOS Ill let you be my editor ,then you can proof read me and learn something .... I know it would hurt you to agreee with me on these points ,but tell me your version of getting IC to where it needs to be .... Nothing sly man just tell me what you wou
ld impliment .... Tell me who you would like to get on schedule as non
confrence foes....... Or maybe you can re read what Ive laid out
and .actually agree with me ... lol ... I am sure that aint gonna
happen ... and there in lies how being too proud can fail you ...... -

Honestly do they? I mean for real I got a nephew and he has a few other friends that live in Toronto and they went to Harding last year and went to Big Red this year . I think it goes both ways ,but i really dont know -

I don't thin that anyone disagrees with you that we would be favorites in this game, however we have a conference that fills weeks 4-10 every year. These games are mandatory for conference participation. That leaves weeks 1-3... Dating back to 2008 we have lost ONE out of these 3 out of conference games every year, twice to Big Red (2008 & 2009) and once to Oak Glen (2010) Big Red has been replaced by Weir who struggled a lot last year, we didn't get many points from them but eventually this game will become more competitive and Weir is likely to continue the game with us for years to come. We have had Cleve. John Hay on the schedule the last 2 years and we liked that game because John Hay was willing to play us at home and they also showed promise in 2009 giving us a good amount of points. That game is over now because one of their assistant coaches got a little to upset about the last meeting and took it out on a few of our players. Our AD reached out to a lot of schools with the request that this be a one year deal as a home game for us seeing how we start a home and home series with East Liverpool next year... Linsly was the only school to fulfill that request or we would have had an open date there. Had CCHS had the opening that week and wanted to play, the game you wish for would have happened. Oak Glen has been on our schedule for YEARS and will most likely stay there because of that reason. There is nowhere to fit CCHS on the schedule, and I don't see how beating a team like CCHS in their current state would have a positive effect on the players heading into the B8 schedule when they already have that confidence builder in Weir who has the potential to give us more computer points?Thinthickbigred;664428 wrote:Here is my case for IC playing this game .. #1 I think IC of late would win this game and a win generates confidence...,momentem..and it puts points in your colum for playoffs ..A loss to a superior school garners none of those things....
We are not looking to play for money... We are looking to play week 11.Thinthickbigred;664428 wrote:#2 This would be a cash game obviously and that would be good for both schools.
So is the IC/BR game... That game brought a few of the biggest gates in recent history, so why not skip a pretty much meaningless money game with CCHS and work towards seeing BR in the playoffs where the stadium will be packed, both teams will make money, both teams will be satisfied with their current season progress, and the winner will move on?Thinthickbigred;664428 wrote:#3 It is a true and old riv;ry that would actually still be a very good one .. its nostaligic and it brings back memories from the old days before half the populas left the area...
How slow can we start? Weir was a win, Cleve. John Hay was a win, and Oak Glen got the upper hand on us for the first time since 2003. Our all time record against them is 10-5 with 2 of their wins coming from our first 2 years of existence... We do start off slowly and work our way into our B8 schedule, next year we will add East Liverpool into that mix who I believe is a good fit. Potential of points is there for both teams, same division, and we have been scrimmaging each other for the past few years in the preseason with IC coming out on top a majority of the time. The only game out of the first 3 that I "could" see changing in the near future would be Weir if things do not turn around over there, but for now I am happy with the first 3 non-conference games.Thinthickbigred;664428 wrote:Another point Id add is that IC needs to start slow and not play over there heads to get into the playoffs .. 6-4 and 7-3 hasnt worked lately Give yourself a good chance to win all your non confrence games first ..
As for going 6-4 or 7-3, you are right that is NOT where we want to be... we need to go 8-2 or better. That is a confidence boost in itself being the first team since the late 90's to post that kind of record. We had that kind of potential last year, but a few games slipped away from us. Oak Glen was a stunner... We didn't show up to play and they took full advantage. That was a game we could have won. St.C. exploited our weakest points all game and I d feel that the better team won that match up. We let Ferry beat us. We had them on the ropes and we made mistakes. Ferry could have been the better team, but that night our mistakes beat us. Bellaire's coaching allowed them to beat us, they were 100% on the money every play... It was a game we should have won and did not adjust properly to their game plan. Roll the dice slightly different and we were 8-2 or 9-1. We had a VERY young team last year and we get it all back for 2 more years. This year the hardest part will be replacing some very key players at IC, but heading into the year with a O-line and D-line full of Juniors who pretty much played every down as Sophmores last year will make a difference. The line of scrimmage is where the game is played and we have good experience there. Hopefully the line play will allow other players to become the skilled players we need to complete the full package and get that playoff berth. -
ThinthickbigredOk now were talking football... Lets see how long we can keep it civil ... Note I did say "WE"...
Your statement that we dont need money we need to get to week 11 I disagree with totally ...first of all everybody needs a few good cash games .. this game would be the best for both schools or close to it ...secondly I am sure that IC and another confrence team could play in an opener and then you would have say a week 7 open for Central .. It just takes a little doing and may take a year or two .. thirdly yes Big Red game was a big gate but IC was not ready for that game yet so it wasnt competitive .. I think the Central game would be competitive definitly .. The Central game would also be a TV game which is something to covet ...I myself as a fan would go see this game from time to time .. I just like watching good rival games ,dont care who is playing and I know there are others like me .. If we disagree on this matter so be it .. I am trying to give you my case for the renewal of this rivalry .. I think it is a great opportunity for both schools to showcase your teams ..Its a win win win deal in my books ... Sore feelings about a few knucklehead kids from years ago shouldnt stop this from happening again.... Unfortunatly the people who decide these things hold grudges far longer than young people and I think these kings and queens of the power grid are cheating the kids at both these schools ..... Does IC and Central play each other at other sports? If so than this is just another ego thing with higher ups .. I believe that .The schools could take a more proactive approach so the vadalising doesnt happen on a larg scale again .. Simple steps can be taken . -
