Same with all catholic schools that recruit the best kids in their area. it is a joke that you are even allowed to do it. The only reason the OHSAA wont put you in your own division is because the attendane is driven by public schools. Private schools have no following. The games of 2 catholic schools would consist of 500 fans and not enough money to support that. That is it. You should be ashamed of yourselves!

Don't be proud of a state title?
Yeah i'm just going to forget you said that.

Massillons titles of the pre playoff era hold more value than your slanted playing field titles.

You have no clue what you're talking about. Once again, someone talks about Ursuline, and has no clue what they're saying.

Because you were bigger and faster than any other team. Yes Coldwater did beat you but that was lucky lets face it. Nobody in Youngstown is excited about either one of your programs because at the end of the day they are players that you took from Austin town, Warren harding, and Fitch and you know it. You will not win that argument with me. Do you know who we have to pull talent from in Orrville? Just Orrville. We do things the right way and that is why I am proud of our program. We won a state title in 98 and they may be the only one we will ever win but we did it the right way. You cant tell me in the State title gamesa where the 2 best teams from each division come together, that there are teams losing by 70 points. Thats ridiculous and I dont give a crap what anyone says. Pjut yourself in our shoes. If we graduate a lot of seniors, we rebuild next year. If you graduate a lot of seniors, you offer scholorships to good players to fill their spot.

    Austin Town . . . . really?

You're vastly misinformed and uneducated on this subject, which is obvious from your posts.

Oh, and you have a friend on the OHSAA Board who knows more than everyone here . . . . gee, do you also have some gay friends . . . and black ones too?

    Three claps for you.

Why is everyone hating on Ursuline. Coach Reardon used to be my coach back at WGH and was pretty darn good then, and it seems like he is now. Can someone inform me of these "recruit" allegations please.?
  • Red Rider Nation
OK if you want to believe that case closed for now - all public schools have kids that play both ways from D4 doen and in many cased D3. Delphos and Ursuline recruit skilled players for every position avoiding this. You are not gonna win this argument with me so stop trying. Nobody in D5 can compete with you because it is not a level playing field. You cant argue that. 5 of the 6 divisions were won by private schools because the system is messed up.

After Canton Central Catholic won in 2000, they had teams of around 60-70 kids. They're now back to the 30 kid range. Did CCC recruit after they won their state championship and no longer do? ..... no... everyone just wants to play for a winner. That's why Ursuline is getting so many kids right now. The recruiting allegations are bogus.. people just want to play for winners. Public schools with good traditions reap the same benefits.
  • Red Rider Nation
I wouldnt forget it. Play the Ohio St buckeyes next time because your O-Line is almost their size. Then if you beat them be proud. Thats about what it is like for these public schools to play you. You win D5 every year becasue nobody can compete with you period.
  • Red Rider Nation
I have a clue. Where is the post game celebration at in Youngstown? Oh wait thats right nobody there cares either because they agree with everyone else in Ohio. Outside of your school and Mooney people in Y-town are just as disgusted with your programs as we are. You should not be proud of what I saw yesterday. Expect to win yes because nobody will compete with you. If you are proud of that you have personal issues above and beyond football

You are correct about so many kids going because Ursuline is winning. The other that has also happened over the last few years is that Youngstown City Schools have become very dangerous places. Many kids in Youngstown are choosing to go to private schools or open enroll at public schools in the area.

Who have we recruited. Like I said in another thread, the ONLY Austintown Public School player on Ursuline's team is Asst. Coach Cylar's son. I bring up Austintown because I live there and have to hear their fans bitching about Ursuline taking their kids all the time... They are WRONG!

As I pointed out to you before...the entire city of Youngstown will not ever celebrate a Mooney or Ursuline championship because there are more teams to support in the area. Just like if Glenville (a public school) was to win, the entire city of Cleveland would not celebrate. And when Winton Woods (a public school) won last year, the entire city of Cincinnati did not celebrate.

    So again I'll say...perhaps your beef isn't with private/public...perhaps its with urban/rural.

Just heard this on 570 WKBN, Ursuline and Lakewood St. Edward's are working on a deal to play in Week 1 of next season..

I'm assuming you felt the same way about Ursuline circa 2000-2006 when they were a .500 team?

Or Mooney from 2000-2003 when they went 5-5, 0-10, 5-5, 8-3 during that stretch.

    Wait...let me guess...they just didn't have a good recruiting class those years...right?

mvred...your post to me is about as juvenile as they come. Grow up, son.

Is that not what a coach is supposed to do in high school, build a program to the point that everyone wants to come to. I sure would, so that does not mean people are recruiting. As a parent, wouldn't you do the same, to put your son in the best position possible to be successful? For those who are mad about yesterdays score, give me a break. Ursuline could not help it that Coldwater could not tackle. Coldwater is a very good school that was outmatched. Did you want Ursuline to take a knee every play? Cry me a river!

False, not all public schools can reap those benefits. Some have a limited open enrollement, some dont even have it yet. Kids should not be able to go from school to school just cause one is winning. Thats why the playing field is not level and thats why change needs to happen.

No thats not what a coach is supposed to do. He is supposed to build a program from the youth levels of the students already in their system. Not bring in oher kids to fill whatever holes, or bring in other kids because they might be better. The fact that people can use that logic that players should openly move to better schools, just illustrates how messed up the system is.

Cards.......lol....you are funny. Must of been directly affected by another kid coming over to play at Ursuline? If I am a HC, I want to build a program that garners that type of respect. If you are a good athlete in Cleveland, more than likely you will want to play at either Glenville, Ed's or Iggy for example. What's wrong with that?
